I hate to be that guy but there are a few errors in the italian lyrics. When it says "Hai te con l'Italia che grida "Ti va!" those are wrong lyrics. In reality the proper lyrics are "Hai teco l'Italia che gridati "Va!", which translates in "You have Italy with you that shouts to you "Go!". "Teco" is a latinisim and means "with you" while "gridati" means "shouts to you". But really great content, love it. Keep it up man :)
This song is from the 1911 Italo-Turkish War, and thus predates fascism (although the video footage is from a movie about the fascist pacification of Libya in the 1930s).
@@Aquilaris Did Italian colonialism in Africa play any part in the rise of fascism (much how many Nazis were ex-Freikorps, or the role of the Army of Africa in the Spanish Civil War)?
@@GCarty80 Well, as far as I know, many Italians did want a vendetta on the ethiopians because, after they won the First Italo-ethiopian war, the ethiopians castrated the Italian prisoners of War, just to name one of their atrocities. And also, the Italians found it fair that Italy had its share of Africa, just as liberal-capitalistic world powers, like Great Britain, and France, had theirs - A famous phrase, in Italy, fom the time period, was "Noi abbiamo diritto!" - Meaning that they, also, believed to have the right to a slice of Africa. But such was not the main point that led to the development of the missed Fascist Regime, in Italy, by a long shot.
@@GCarty80 I couldn't affirm that Nationalist Italian Irredentism in Africa, in specific, played a big part in the rise of the Doctrine of the Fascio Littorio, but I can say that the claim for a larger Italian Nation, via the annexation of territories to the north of its borders, and in the Balkans, was a part of the whole Fascist objective to recreate the Roman Empire. We can see that, for example, in the efforts of the protofascist Gabriele D'Annunzio, in regards to the Italian Regency of Carnaro, in the Balkans - That was, purely, putting the Ideal of Nationalist Italian Irredentism in practice, in a post-War scenario, especially considering how Italy was tricked to join the bad side of WWI in exchange for having its Irredentist needs attented to, but never got its end of the deal delivered.
... Grazie ancora per le info
To build my ancestor die for this land. And now the Italian say sorry about it. Like that will change anything. Everyone will have his day One day. Free soil., they says. Ha.. Like we will never Exist there.
The Italian troops were regarded as the weakest Axis forces during WWII with poor leadership, morale and discipline eventhough some units such as Bersaglieri and Folgore fought well.
Sure, then why the germans retreated at el alamein, at the sicily invasion and why didnt 1 milion german troops werent encircled in russia western front?
Giaranib..
BS/They were the 3rd strongest behind Germany, Japan, had an Empire larger than Germany's, the other Axis did virtually nothing. They fought as well or better than the Germans in N. Africa, MADE Rommel, and fought as good in Russia. The "poor morale, discipline" is PURE PROPAGANDA.
@@user-mj2vy1rn4g sorry bro i can't understand what you write because youtube doesn't allow me to translate... could you write it again but in english pls?
Italy's problem in WWII wasn't so much cowardice as bad leadership (like the French only more so) along with the fact that they re-armed too early, meaning that by the time war broke out most of their weapons were already obsolete.
BS/They were the 3rd strongest Army behind Germany, Japan, had an Empire larger than Germany's, the other Axis did virtually nothing. They fought as well or better than the Germans in N. Africa, MADE Rommel, and fought as good in Russia. Without Italy, America would not exist. How's that Dementia patient Prez of yours?
