i like the way they(writers) treat himmel as fake hero, because real heroes die early. he doesn't want to acknowledge to himself that he's a real hero until he prove that he accomplished what a real hero does.
Stark thought he never received birthday gifts before, not realizing that both his brother and his master gave him the steaks which is considered a warriors gift of appreciation .
The main point of this episode was to show us that true hero is defined by the person's action and who they are, not just the chosen ones. Same goes for the warrior everyone who works hard are warrior. I have seen so many reactor saying that Stark should pull the sword and they completely missed what the episode actually trying to convey.
You guys missed the meaning behind the Steak a little bit. It wasn't just a nice gesture from Stolz to cook Stark the Steak. He told him "don't tell the rest of the family" meaning they never thought that Stark deserved a steak, however Stolz did. And Stark only realizes that when Frieren tells him the meaning behind the Steak.
I've never gotten emotional over 1kg of ground beef before this episode. I wept for Stark with the reveal of Stolz and their relationship. The steak was a symbol of Eisen and Stolz's love for Stark. And speaking of love, I think the resolve of Himmel after he failed the test of the sword may be when emotions the elf is still working through began to manefest.
You see, co-Kaguya sama enjoyer, the cute village chief was voiced by Chika's VA and idk what to do with this information. The minor cast are full of top grade VAs .... This is such a top tier episode
Fun fact the reason demons only started popping up now is because Himmel during the 50 years frieren was adventuring alone he was exterminating demons that ever popped up around him... Which is why Aura the Guillotine only got her power back the exact year when Himmel died. Also during this time Frieren was doing the same but with less coverage.
Ecchi = how to pronounce the letter "H". The first letter for hentai, which generally means perverted in Japanese. It has a significantly dirtier meaning when used by English speakers, however. (So, this show does a good job of translating it as just 'perv' imo. if she said "hentai" instead, they probably would have translated it as "pervert"
What i like about the swords is the fact that while the "real" sword was rusty and attracted monster and only brought chaos, the "fake" sword Himmel held until his bed kept shining and only brought joy and safety to people. Like Himmel did.
Fern is projecting because who was the one that looked at Stark's junk and said that he's small? 😂 If you want to insult Angelo then you have to question his knowledge about dbz 😅 The legend of the sword talked about an upcoming calamity so the real calamity still has to happen and Stark is the hero of legend?
Fern calling Stark is a display of the ship going on, not that she thinks he;s a perv, she didnt wanted to give Frieren to Stark cuz she likes him herself.🌟🌟🌟
Something that EVERYONE over looks about Eisen making Stark the Hamburg steaks for his birthdays is what Stark thought his master (Eisen) thought of him- "He never praised me." He didn't do it in words- he did it in actions; through a regional custom that they both shared. I get the strong feeling that Eisen in his stoicism (or "awkward [nature]" as Frieren put it) deemed the action of giving a gift to "a warrior who works hard" would speak more volumes than mere words could ever convey. After all, words can't always convey the message properly.
Stoltz wanted Stark to live and survive that he accidentally put a curse on him. In that moment, Stark had it emprinted in him that the best way to survive and live is to run away. And that’s why he’s a brave coward.
Honestly I feel like Stolz liked that his cloak got dirty around his brother. Like all day he has to be the hypervigilant perfect unblemished warrior and example for the whole village but around his brother he's so chill and unguarded he gets dirt on him within seconds. He's able to just relax and be himself around his younger brother unlike everyone else in the village so of course he treasured that.
My personal interpretation is that Fern just secretly wants to be the one to be carried by Stark and not any other girl. No one can convince me otherwise!!!
From how I see this episode (specifically the Part-B section), it's less about the gift and more about the memory that comes from it, whether it's new or old.
Honesty Ange, I completely agree, Gohan truly deserved to be the hero, such a shame all that training ended up being pointless It's kinda strange because I'm pretty sure nobody had problems with Gohan being the hero against Cell His child appearance against Cell is the coolest Sayan ever though, so perhaps that's why
On rewatch, I realized that there is a much bigger threat than the demon king. It is likely a demon that has learned to suppress his mana. I'm gonna call this yet unknown enemy the demon emperor. The hero sword will be for killing him.
When your own father says that you are a failure, then that is how you think about yourself. Stark faced down a Dragon, and killed it on his own strength alone. Yet he continues to see himself as a coward, and a weakling, a failure.
Not being the fated hero could help Himmel go all out - he'll do as much damage to the demon lord & his forces to help out the fated hero on their journey. Then becoming so strong that he does end up defeating the demon lord; echoed with Stark not realizing he killed the dragon on his own.
I swear Frieren didnt come back before the old lady died because she never forgot that she called Himmel a fake to his face!, and Frieren didn't liked that. I dont have proof, but I dont have doubts either.
I haven't read all the way through what's been released of the manga yet, but I sincerely hope that Himmel used that same replica sword all the way through the defeat of the Demon King. It would be only fitting.
I'm sorry, but if what I think is true, then fern is wrong: would armor be considered clothes? Because if it is, then you have a potion that can melt it. Imagine swinging a weapon that, in contact with armor, actually destroys it. That's a good strategy in my opinion
Actually, I thought Stark is genius than brother because he waved the sword and the mud fly at his brother’s gown. And before that their father just said the big brother is strong enough to avoid any dirt on him.
2:15 it’s because all 3 of them are awkward and had bad social ques. Stark’s face kinda made it seem weird instead of being helpful. So Fern thought that he might be a pervert side of him. She was just protecting Frieren. lole
Since Ange was just amused by learning the translation of "ecchi", let's bring more merriment with some interesting transcontinental etymology: H entai is a Japanese word meaning abnormal, change(d), transform(ed), pervert(ed). Can refer to lewd stuff, but not necessarily. In the west it became the name for, well, JP cultured art. Then the Japanese took that romanized word, the first letter, H, approximating the English pronunciation in Japanese kana, turning it into "ecchi", which became their term for shmexy stuff.
i think stark might be the chosen one, he comes from a sword fighting village but uses a n axe instead, his character arc might end with him finally becoming swordsman like his brother and himmel and pulling out the hero's sword
Now that I'm rewatching this episode through your reaction I think there is definitely something behind Fern's fear of "sexual things" / pervs, etc. Probably we'll know later on in her backstory (I didn't read the manga so it's just a theory)
