True! The way the British court system runs, he would have been up for parole in 10 years and the family would have to continually go to court to keep him in jail.
So a convicted murderer was only given 8 years for slaughtering his wife then he’s released from prison and allowed to immigrate to the UK without any parole or anyone monitoring him?? Why was he allowed to immigrate? this never should’ve happened to poor Alice what a horrible destiny for her to cross paths with this monster. All killers should get mandatory life in prison or the death penalty if they take a life they need to give up their life.
@@v.j447 I said western countries. You're smart enough to understand that western countries is in plural, as in USA isn't the only western country in the world? Are you that smart enough to understand that?
41:56 the look on her mothers face when alice’s sister talks about her pain is so heartbreaking 💔 grieving for the lost child but also for the happiness of the other… so tragic
RIP dear Alice. What a horrendous crime. One that could have been prevented if a convicted murderer hadn't been allowed to emigrate. On a happy note I'm glad to see that her parents were still together as many couples cannot face the trauma of losing a child and maintain their relationship through their immense grief.
It saddens me that she had to die for him to be exterminated. He did it himself. But at least he’s gone and not hurting anyone ever again. Rest Easy, Young Lady.
Thank you for covering this case. I’ve been over hundreds of homicide cases but not this one, and I’m glad I now know Alice Gross’ story. So Thank you.
@@Kat.Evangeline Not ridiculous at all. She'd been suffering from depression and had an eating disorder, so it's quite feasible, especially if she'd succumbed to any of the rabbit holes on social media.
The intensity and breadth of the police investigation is stunning for this American - I can't begin to imagine the same level of persistent clue-hunting ever happening here - nowhere near it! And then slowly putting the thousands of pieces of the puzzle together! Awed congratulations to all involved in solving this devastating crime - without each one of you doing your absolute best, there would certainly have been more murdered girls.
I would never ever let my daughter go walking in her own down by the canals and woods anywhere in Greater London! Way too risky in this day and age. London is full of nutters
Nothing can bring their lovely daughter back but at least they know he will never be up for parole or filing appeal after appeal for years just bringing up the family’s loss and pain again and again.
Why was he allowed in? Serious question. Who decided it was a good idea to allow a convicted killer to get citizenship? Or did they even care to check?
@@OzA-gv4eu The UK doesn't have the death penalty. The word justice is not synonymous with death. Cowards that commit this type of crime do not like to be out of the position of power and control. That is exactly what happens when they go to prison.
This is the result of negligence in vetting people entering the country. There are now tens of thousands of them being rewarded with free accommodation and cash to encourage them to cross the channel in a rubber boat without care of the risk they pose to people like poor Alice.
The selfishness of this killer is maddening. I will never understand how anyone can just take the life of a person and go about their way never giving a thought to the lives they have destroyed
That's the way humans are. Mostly normal, but each of us carries the potential to create wonderful or do terrible things. But it's not like evil-born psychopaths cycle around droolingly, stalking their next pray. There is always a backstory behind what led up to this. Former good boys and girls due to the experiences and baggage of their lives can turn into weird persons, believe it or not. The question here is, what made this man eventually snap. Now, he killed his wife in Latvia before. Childhood and adolescence will already have formed him accordingly, then she may have cheated on him. It certainly wouldn't be the world's first crime of passion. That's when he developed anger against women in general. Then, as he was cycling in this park in London, maybe this girl unknowingly blocked his way while wearing headphones, which made him furious. Or maybe he drove recklessly too close and she yelled something at him that set him off, who knows.
1. Is it normal to leave a 14 year old girl with clinical depression to walk around the city by herself? 2. Why did the search not use cadaver dogs from the start?
Someone must pay ultimate price first before the laws are tighten. If that man who was a convicted murderer wasn't allowed to enter UK this crime wouldn't have happened in the first place. I feel really sad for the family, they were robbed twice.
My son was murdered at age 14 so I know what it feels like. You know you have to keep moving forward but you do so with a big empty place in your heart. It never goes away. Big hugs to the whole family.
Was fighting back tears at the end, RIP child, you're now the newest light in the next realm of existence, prayers to her family, may they find the wisdom they need to get through this horrific experience, death only exists in this realm, our consciousness is eternal!
I was so lucky to have been born in the b post war era when we all had similar outlooks goals and beliefs about raising children … safer gentler times … older siblings and cousins to play with … safe neighborhoods.
Poor, poor child. Poor, poor family. Horrid vicious man ended up a coward, as he’d always been . congratulations to the dedication of the police force to get this monster. 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺
I remember very well Alice case as i was living in Ealing Broadway at that time close to that canal; i shared her picture on socials just hoping she was safe somewhere. When the police found her my heart just broke.
We can’t know what was in the murder’s mind before he offed himself, but I DOUBT he felt like a VICTIM! He did one last arrogant, defiant “F#%k you all; I’m outa here.”
The monster had completed Latvia’s ridiculous six-year imprisonment, but why England let him in-unless he came illegally as many still do-is unanswered in this documentary.
@@leannemo7382 Lativa is a member of the EU, so it's as if there are no borders between the member countries. Of course, with Brexit, that has now changed as far as the UK is concerned.
It’s so wrong for the media and community to start criticizing the police! Police work hard… doing everything possible. (sometimes missing people can’t be found!)
If no one critiqued them, how could they grow and learn? Where would the standard be built? I think they can be too harsh sometimes, but I also think they need some level of healthy criticism. Just my opinion. 😊
That’s not always the case though. I’ve seen far too many true crime cases where the police were completely ignorant and lazy. I will never blindly believe that the police are doing their jobs.
Agree. They work hard , and resources is an issue. plus more and more immediate crimes takeover every single day. Literally more crime than the people they have. And yes sometimes people can not be found.
23:01 Who walks like that?!?! Alice certainly didn't (based on the CCTV footage anyway). Why choose a person who walks like a total freak to perform a reenactment of someone who walked like a normal human?
In a way, it's good that the garbage took itself out. No agonizing court proceedings, no cost to the taxpayers for keeping him locked up, and no risk of him getting let out someday.
Im so saddened for Alisons family, what a devastating end to her being missing. What a pathetic insensitive monster who realised how much Alison was loved and how close police were getting to him. Taking his own life shows what a coward he was. Im sorry you have not seen justice here on earth but am sure he will receive it on the other side, while Alison dances and sings alongside choirs of angels. 💕 And what a steadfast impeccable job by Scotland Yard.
How on earth did a convicted killer get into the UK?! How many more like him are out there? UK citizens are way too vulnerable now. The poor innocent girl and her loved ones who must live with this heartache.
I would never allow my 14 year old to go anywhere alone. Not in the country. Not in a suburban area or a busy village, and in the middle of London, even Ealing, meant to be "safe". Just no. Even two tiny girls like that no it's not safe from the evil disturbed men there seem to be more and more of~especially the ones that have their own own daughters and otherwise seem to be perfectly normal blokes ~who we find out are anything but.
What a beautiful young lady. May she rest in peace in God's loving arms. My heartfelt condolences to her mom and dad and sister. I hope that Interpol will do a complete workup on this deceased suspect. Chances are strong that he killed others. I don't believe his wife and Alice were his only victims.
@@randibgood Well let me see, how bout Laken Riley, or Mollie Tibbets? How bout Kate Steinle? Ruby Garcia who was murdered by an illegal in a "sanctuary" city, so talk about failure. Just to name a few.
This is another tragic reason why you must have strong borders, know who's in your country, and deport the riffraff. I guarantee for every one Alice, these days there are at least 50 more no one knows about who met similar fates. Same here in the States.
Absolutely agree. So many murders by men of Eastern European origin in the UK over the past few years. Also not wise for any woman to go walking on their own, day or evening, more especially young teenage girls. It's just not safe.
@@CLOUDSINTHEKITCHEN ..and your point is? It's counterproductive to allow foreign riffraff to sneak in or otherwise "import" themselves. Society has enough trouble w the homegrown variety.
@@TAROTKATREADINGS my point is that in this case he had murdered someone and was on record , fair to not allow him in, but how about the ones that don't have records. How can you just judge who is 'riffraff' or not just because they are foreigners.
They don't need to know why bc the answer would probably make no sense anyway. He's just evil. They got the best justice he's dead. They never have to worry about this creep again or go through the turmoil of putting him away. God bless this family. 🙏 I'm sorry for your beautiful daughters loss. Your so lucky to know her as long as you did.
Let me get this straight. To get to the UK, i as an immigrant from outside the EU need a security check but this guy didn’t need one to come to the UK from the eu? He should never have been let out of prison!!!!
@@davidcat1455 Native Americans were never going to hold onto America. Someone was going to invade and take them over eventually, and they're probably lucky it was Europeans because nobody else was going to have the guilt to allow them to have reservations, casino's, and they probably would've faced extinction. Welcome to how the world worked, every country everywhere was conquered by someone.
it sounds like from the beginning the police was considering all possibilities - including a runaway case - and still did their absolute most to find Alice. In so many cases when police think someone might ran away, they don't do shit all to find them. But it sounds that these investigators considered it because they had to consider all options - and that didn't diminish their efforts. They did the absolute most to find her from the beginning.
I was born in the UK but spent the majority of my life in the USA. As I live in the USA I will say I don't think in the USA we would have done that much, especially if it was a suicide or suspected suicide. I'm not through with the episode yet but I could see where it's going. I feel for the family you are an innocent girl. But maybe that's just where I live people doing amazing things when they come together.
When British people speak, they try and convey their meaning through their word choice. However, their cadence and emotional tone remains neutral. When Americans speak, we often dispense with any thoughtful word choice, instead conveying our meaning through our emotional tone. For example, an American wouldn’t say “Sooiside was a real possibility” with a same somewhat clinical/formal tenor that the man here had been using up to that point in the conversation. It could be considered rude. Instead, an American might go: “There were questions about her mental state and uh.. we were thinking… we were actually considering that “self-harm” or something more uh… extreme … might have actually been something to worry about.”
I know that it's England.....she was 14, why the heck wasn't an adult with her? No matter how responsible a child is, if they are underage, an adult parent, older sibling, trusted person needs to be with them. The sentence he got for murdering his wife was ridiculous. He definitely should've gotten at least life, but when the justice system is flwed, everything involving it will be too
@calamityjane4331 that's absolutely true. It could have. The fact that such a person committed the crime makes it worse. He would have received life in prison, but not in Latvia.
@@user-jo7kf2bj9s I always think this when children disappear, but even then I understand that different countries have different ideas about safety. However, walking alone during daylight is perfectly normal for a 14-year-old girl, and practically as safe as it is for an adult woman.
@monicanavarro2906 you are absolutely right. I'm not putting any blame on her parents. I'm a mom myself, and I can't imagine their pain. It can happen to anyone, adult or child, male or female. In any part of the world.
That's how you can tell a true suicidal person. People who truly want death will not fight against the water or drowning. They will open their mouth to swallow as much water as possible to drown quickly. People who are trying to escape pain but not die, will fight drowning. It's difficult to explain
@traybern im confused as to what youre saying to me? I didnt mention runaways, i just said any child that cannot be found. Cause if you watch other videos of kids whove gone missing, the cops sometimes just say 'theyve probably runaway, its fine' when the kid is like 14, as if a 14 year old running away is just an ok thing to do.
yes how it is possible that criminals can get into country and not one checked their criminal history, it is heartbreaking for family and beautiful girl
2014- London - A Predator lurks - 16 year old Alice Gross disappeared and was later found murdered. Police wondered whether Alice who suffered some depression actually drowned or it was a case of suicide as police kept on looking for her body. Then a 41 year old man who was also missing became a person of interest to the police following CCTV footage showing him riding a bicycle and on the same path as Alice. This man was from Latvia. Four weeks had now passed since Alice disappeared. Then police found the body of Alice weighed with bricks and logs in the bottom of the river. Then police found the missing man had killed his own wife in lativia. Then police found the body of the missing man hanging from a tree in the forest.
Seeking to punish someone and feeling robbed of it is not justice its just revenge. He faced Eternal Justice and no justice on earth can compare to that.
Mom and dad there will be t a day go by that you didn't think anout your little princess. It's the hardest thing for any father and mother for day to go by without the little girl. But she's in the Almights Hands. Let GOD Almighty give you both strength to get by these horrible days. GOD bless
