Thank you, Chris, for all of the hard work and passion you put into this project. I can't believe how much time has passed. It seems like yesterday when you first started and at the same time it seems like yesterday. You were really one of the only ones back in the day giving the TG some love on RU-vid and it has always been appreciated in the community. Look forward to more stuff from you! :)
From 2009 to 2021 man how time flies O_o.When you started back in 09 is when i acquire the console again. It mostly came from me missing and playing it's library of games, back in the 90's. As a streamer i follow on twitch said it best you were that weird kid that own a TG16 back then.Given how niche it was for the time. Thanks for the informative reviews over the years and to whatever is next for you're channel.
@@Progearspec I got the Turbo bug again back in 2007, not long before you. The idea of finally being able to play the Japanese games that never got imported really intrigued me. I also never had the CD option as a kid, so that was another thing grabbing me. And you're totally right about being the weird kid with the Turbo. I only knew one other kid with a TG and he was in two grades below me. We even traded games for a while to try out. I forget what game I gave him to try out for a few weeks, but I remember he gave me Ordyne. Two of my best friends had the Genesis and the SNES. They had a secret crush on my Turbo, though. lol They loved Dungeon Explorer and Ninja Spirit.
I can't truly express how much i've enjoyed your channel for the last 10 years. I always got excited to see a new upload from you and i'm very grateful to you for all your hard work and passion that's gone into this channel.
Chris this is amazing , I love what you did here . Please don't stop making these turbo views, a suggestion for new series, could you do a series of read throughs for turbo Play magazines with your amazing insites please ? That would be the best ! Please consider my idea.
What I liked about Turbo Views is how you managed to get me nostalgic for a console and era I have never experienced (European born in 93, so the TG16 completely went past me. And even when I went back to play some retro stuff, the system just wasn’t relevant over here) I think I started watching in 2010.
I love you, Spida1a. I watched all of your Turbo Views as you made them and enjoyed them a lot. Thank you for making them. I think highly of you. Take care.
Thanks Chris - Being a TG owner meant being second class citizen in a word of Nintendo/Sega. As most friends didn't have the system, we never got to socialize our experience until your series came on. Thank you for the memories.
Ever since i saw your game room full of pinball machines, i wanted to do that too someday. Now i have my mancave / arcade and i love it. thanks for the videos i love watching them.
One of the most under rated channels. If I could subscribe twice I would! Would love to see more import reviews. I have collected and played about 56 turbografx games over the years but games got so expensive that I now have more PC Engine games which has been wonderful as there are so many games we didn't get.
I'm not going to lie, I will miss waiting in anticipation for the next episode. But what you created was beautiful. I love that you decided to keep it consistent and eventhough the reviews were your opinion, they were informative and objective enough for anyone to make their own. I'm a bit sad that you are not planning on continuing with the imports, but its very understandable for many reasons. Thanks once again, and as a sidenote; There are many people on youtube with anoying voices... you are not one of them.
I think my first episode I watched was Drop off on this channel. Can't believe how much time has passed! It's been great sticking with the channel, I've enjoyed TurboViews so much and I'm excited to see where you go from here!
Thanks Chris. I recently stumbled across your channel. I had a TG console and TG Express and recently hooked up the console to my TV to play some games which brought back some great memories.
I've been a very big fan from the beginning. 🙂 At the time you started I believe that you were the only channel covering TG16 PCE related content. I still love your channel and watch some of the old stuff over again and highly enjoy the Pinball content too. Best gaming channel on RU-vid hands down!! 🙂
Kudos to you Chris. Turbo Views was an awesome shared journey, and it's impressive, fulfilling, and bittersweet to have reached its conclusion. I was one of those kids back in the 90s who only had a Turbo, and it always felt like I was somewhat alone in that experience at the time. Watching each of your videos and your personal reflections has brought me a sense of overwhelming comradery and nostalgia for that system and era of gaming. Our gaming experiences and passion for the Turbo were so very similar, and many of the things you reflected on, such as the scarcity of Turbo games in stores and the joys of perusing game shops on the occasional trip to the mall, really hit home for me. Thanks again for this passion project to yourself and to your fans. I hope you can continue to revisit the Turbo in future videos in whatever capacity that makes sense.
That's crazy you did all those reviews man, good job. It's fun for me to watch because I was one of the few kids back in the day when the Turbo was new that was actually playing it.
Thank you for the great and insightful video. It is because of you and your channel why I started collecting for the Turbo and PC Engine. The rare times I see a game in the wild, I pop up you review of the game to see whether I should get it. It was heartbreaking hearing the inflection in your voice and pause on the breakup that started Turboviews. I am so happy to see you happy with your current lady! Have you ever thought about doing your Top 10 favorites from the Library since you have played them all now? Or even livestream with you playing one of your favs where we can interact and chat with you while you play?
Thank you for all the amazing content Chris! I've enjoyed all of your videos, I love the Turbografx and Pinball, so you've made a one stop shop for the things I enjoy. I find myself often watching your videos and being happy while I do it. Your content is very special because it comes from passion for the content, and not content for the sake of content. I greatly appreciate that.
I started watching around the beginning of the second half of reviews. These are the best videos on RU-vid to get information about turbografx games. Thanks for the great videos and hope you do a turbo views book!
Thank you so much for the videos, Chris. When I got into arcade and pinball stuff almost 6 years ago, your channel was one of the first I followed. You seem like a very genuine and kind person. I can't wait to see what comes next!
I came in watching these about midway through your journey. I didn't watch all of them but I definitely watched a few of the ones that seemed would be up my alley, and it definitely helped me appreciate this console more. I never owned a TG16 myself but had a cousin who did, and got to try at least a couple games with them. Eventually when the Wii Virtual Console came around it gave me the opportunity to buy and try a few more games, particularly many of the Shmups and Neutopia among others. I literally had the exact same experience you had with Super Star Solider - except it still is my achilles heel and still have yet to finish it! But being able to have this series to help understand the overall library was a great thing, your commitment was appreciated and you did an excellent job with it. Thank you for this retrospective and best of luck to your future endeavours!
Been a subscriber since 09 (one of the first video game related channels I've ever subbed to along with classic game room and happy console gamer.) And I've never even owned a turbografx. Lol
I was late to the channel, thanks RU-vid algorithm🙄. But I caught up over the last 4 years. I love the TG-16 and pinball. Thanks for the edutainment!!!
I don't know exactly when I first came across your channel. I know I wasn't there at the beginning but maybe 3-4 years into it. My first thought watching this was: "HOW DID I NOT KNOW THERE WAS A WEBSITE AND DVDS!!!" Man, that ones on me, sorry. In my own small way I feel you on some of this. I tried my hand for a short time, I think maybe 6 months, at the RU-vid thing. It was a different account than this one I'm using where I made a some videos on Vampire media/history. A hobby of mine. I have no video editing training or skills writing scripts. It was very similar to the style of this video except with the camera on me and I'd put a still image on screen about what I was talking about, maybe a short clip from a movie, but it was by and large very informal and off the cuff save for a few notes. I thought being bare bones would be easy. It was WAY more work than I thought. Shockingly so. Where while fun, at times, pun intended, it sucked! And I, too, work a full time job as a medical janitor, sometimes doing exhausting, very detailed, and extensive work such as cleaning hospital surgery rooms. I can't imagine how draining some of your videos must have been to make after a hard days work. A couple of mine I had to completely redo because watching it back you could visibly tell I was out on my feet and mentally checked out desperately needing sleep or to unwind and relax. Changes to RU-vid and some of their shenanigans like trying to copywrite strike me for a video on Nosferatu where in it I explained 1. Due to a lawsuit by Florence Stoker, Bram's wife, no one is legally allowed to own it and 2. It's so old it's in public domain along with a huge increase in my work schedule made me abandon the project. However before all that there was ONE video where the response from it actually angered me and almost made me quit. I did this video on Varney The Vampire from the Penny Dreadfuls in the mid 1800s. It started off well explain the history and importance of what it brought to the table (such as the first Vampire with the now infamous fang teeth) but when I got into the story proper I had to confess i never finished it or even got close. The writing is beyond horrendous. The author got paid by the WORD so they made it practically unreadable either by writing some of the longest run on sentences in history or repeating what they just said just worded differently sometimes as much as 5-6 times in a row. I expressed my frustration with this as the story is interesting and it's influence is still felt today (heck, Varney made an appearance in the Netflix Castlevania series) but it's impossible to read. It's the ONLY video where I swore, dropping an F-Bomb venting how beyond annoying that is. It was the most viewed video of mine. More than all the others combined. The videos where I was super positive and explaining why I loved something got nearly zero engagement. The one where I trash it people loved and I just was like if people are only going to watch so long as I bash this hobby of mine that I greatly enjoy then I'm not going to continue making content. My long winded way of saying I'm 10,000,000 percent with you about having little patience with the idea of just bashing or wanting someone to bash something they like. I don't see the appeal unless it's truly warranted so long as it's balanced by whatever is good about it or it's deliberately a joke like Angry Video Game Nerd. Anyways going to go back to my game of Militarily Madness I was playing while listening to this. Turbografx forever!
Love this channel! I have been dying to play Gate of Thunder again. But I don’t have the cash to buy a Duo or the game. What’s the best easiest way to access some of these classics? Any help much appreciated!
