Hi! I was given my given name when I was a small child by my ancestors . Blue Dawn. I struggle with my two spirit journey because I do not or haven't had any knowledge of who I am since I was a kid, I just know that I am different and I can't find a balance right now in my life between the masculine and feminine, The battle is always conquered by my masculine side, but I want so deeply to step into my feminine side, because it has been neglected. It nice to meet you.

I think it’s amazing how our civilization is evolving in terms of tolerance, acceptance, and compassion. I believe that despite whatever choices you make in life, the most sacred and important thing we ought to do as true humans is to respect each other and never be afraid to show your light, who you truly are. On one hand, we can see that traditional values are always being retroactively renewed through generations, and that is an important aspect mainly for Indigenous communities because it is the main axis that maintains one's cultures and ways of life, saving their original identity and uniqueness. Moreover, that can be an impediment to true progress because if traditional values are segregating and making people’s lives miserable, they must be questioned and/or improved. However, through your example, we can see that these traditional values mean nothing if they don’t have a pinch of love and understanding towards their own people. It is via diversity that the most archaic, old-fashioned, and outdated traditional values have the opportunity to be updated, renewed, and recreated to be more inclusive and accept the patterns that deviate from the normal ways. And it is important to emphasize that difference is not wrong, as it is generally labeled in society nowadays. Furthermore, you are giving voice and inspiration to all the people who can connect and identify with you. I don’t know how flexible is, the most established values in Indigenous communities, but I believe they aren’t easy to break. Even though you may face some challenges along the way and step on a few rocks, you’re also building a collective path for others who are yet to come and that are similar to you. I believe you are helping, with your example, the gay and Indigenous communities combined. Finally, that’s how I believe we can make a difference wherever we live, be it in a community, in a family, or in a society. Being ourselves allows for real world change, as originality creates diversity and makes the world more colorful and new. At first, we may face some difficulties, but the outcome in the long run will be worth it.

I believe you are on to something in this dual spirit idea. I believe the dual spirit idea is a male and a female spirit enclosed in one body. Trouble comes when there is no recognition of one spirit for the other inside the body. It is the reason to be alive. We may have relationships with significant others but the one that counts is the one within. We may marry, but do not realize that we were already married. Hence all the dystonia and dysphoria ensues. Transgendered people are at the forefront of this question.

@richardbedford6657
@richardbedford6657 5 лет назад
@@Ishuuuxix It means that we came from the union of a male spirit with a female spirit. Going back in history you would not even exist with out a male and a female spirit. Both are vital, but one spirit lives in the conscious mind the other is relegated to the subconscious. These spirits may not even be aware of each other. The only way they can communicate is through their mutual child. I think transgendered people may have a greater ability to facilitate this communication.

I myself am native, to me you are a humanbeing, and yes a two spirit. One thing though that word queer, where does it come from?
@alexn.2901
@alexn.2901 5 лет назад
"Queer" was a homophobic Scottish slur that meant "weird" that got reclaimed by the LGBTQ+ community and it now means anyone who isn't heterosexual sometimes it includes people who aren't cisgender.
@BaraJFDA
@BaraJFDA 4 года назад
For most of history, Europeans were vehemently patriarchal and binary. Any one who isn't straight or cis were completely nameless and were subjected to pogroms and tortures. Heterosexual (straight), homosexual, bisexual, and asexual weren't even identified in Western European languages until the 1800s. Likewise, cisgender, transgender, genderqueer, or intersex --- none of these words were coined until the 1900s too. The West only started scientifically recognizing sexual and gender diversity for almost 2 centuries now. But within that short amount of time, underground communities found a new way to communicate, identify themselves, and carve their own spaces. Central Europe in the early 1900s saw an unprecedented change in politics, literature, and medicine for gay and trans people. All thanks to Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld and his Institute of Sexology in Berlin. It was a revolutionary study that recognized gay and trans people in science for the first time in modern history. Sadly it was all destroyed in 1933 when the nazis took power and slaughtered 15,000 to 100,000 LGBT people in the concentration camps, marked with the pink and black triangles. In contrast to all of that, Indigenous communities on Turtle Island already have sexual and gender diversity for millennia, before christianity, before colonization, before the Institute, before the Holocaust, before the Stonewall Riots. In 150 First Nations, they have Two-Spirit cultures for generations, each nation with their own names, spiritual traditions, roles and history. Most of third genders, while several Nations are known to have four gender roles. This is an incredible land full of diverse nations. Once untouched, far from the reach of conservative religions that plagued christianized Europe... Until 1492.

I am not indigenous myself. And yet two spirit. Who knows where he was in the space before he was born? It may be that you have already been here on earth. I have found out that I am two spirit men's like. (It is all in the inside.) And I suffered a lot. I want to say that there are not two minds or two spirits. One spirit transforms into the two forms. Switch between one side and the other side.

I applaud you on your self discovery! I respect your identity as a non-binary individual, however if you are not rooted in Indigenous culture, you are not TwoSpirit. We ask that you respect our sacred term and refrain from misappropriating it. June 14th is International Non-Binary People's day and I do hope you get to celebrate with your loved ones. I am writing all of this with love and compassion, on behalf of all my Ancestors who walked this Earth before me, sincerely a TwoSpirit Chahtah Medicine Person, Tay Looks Through Water

@@ctaylorgh91 I understand that you think or belive I'm not two spirit. But I have getting the confirmation from a Lakta Elder. (He is known as a holy Lakota man and is the only person who can look into the spiritual world to see it. He ecourages me and confirmed me. During the sundance or in ceremonies. I am allowed to stay with the man in Teepee while the woman went to get the water and food. Whenever I feel it I can also go with the woman. He said I can change at any time when I feel it) Through a tree I get also the message confirmation. Through my life I get several personal signs. From wakan Tanka. I am leaned from an indigenous Lakota shaman. Get help from medicine grandmother Ayhoaska and grandfather Peyote. I am not a non binary. The Great Spirit is who guided me. I am responsible for only that source. He decided who I am, not I. I know the role is sacred and it is related to the indigenous understanding of things. The culture which I am surrounded can not understand and see it. (It is cruel for me to live in a culture where two spirits do not exist. Language is a paradigm context. Or a Belivingsystem. The words do not match. We can not translate from one Belivesystem into the other) I have masculinity and femininity inside. I am not using neither sugery nor hormones. I defend my position. All the gender words used in Europe, do not fit. I have a spirit that transforms. (No gender) When I go to the Great Spirit one day... my spirit goes, not my gender. I thank you for your honest opinion. And hope for mutual understanding. my honest statement from Xochitl the man with the secrets of a woman

@@elishafuchs you post saddens me, as you seemed to type a lot in an effort to convince me of something. But maybe you are trying to convince yourself? I hope you find your truth. A truth that you can own and not feel like you have to prove it to strangers on the internet. Be well.

@@ctaylorgh91 It is a complicated subject. The tradition has been interrupted by the european religion people. And now everyone has a different truth from it. Two Spirit is not an Ancient native American term! You know how I know? Because the words "Two" and "Spirit" are ENGLISH words! "Male" "Female" are also ENGLISH words, language that is gendered comes from Indo-European language groups from Europe, West Asia and India (Hindi).
@deborahe8336
@deborahe8336 2 года назад
It's a translation. The terms that are translated that way existed long before contact with Europeans. You do realize people count in languages other than the Indo-European ones? Like we use Arabic numbering ...
