This is a nice house in Downey, California. We asked our friend Matt to do a small tour around his house. Hope you like it! Subscribe to my channel and watch more videos of the series "Exploring California".
+MrChofee Not really.. The average American house has 4br, 2 or 4 baths, kitchen, living room, family room kitchen, dining room and two car garage...around 2500 square feet. The house show is a typical college student or someone very young. Not the sort pf house a normal family lives in.
Yes most of us in the USA are or have been strippers. That's why a stripper pole comes standard in most USA homes. It's coincided a very tasteful feature.
This is so not a typical American house. Well, maybe its typical for California but where I am on the other side of the country in Virginia I think people value a large yard and a front porch swing way more than a lounge and a swimming pool.where I live most people live in old farm houses with at least 10 acres of land. I guess its all in where you live in the country and it is a very large country.
I can’t believe people are willing to live like this, for that amount of money. I’ve lived in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Connecticut, New York, Georgia, Toronto and Ottawa Canada , Pennsylvania, Chicago, and Utah. Most housing is far superior to this. There are different standards. Utah housing is more expensive than most and everything is fake. $800,000 and none of the crown molding, baseboards or doors are wood. They are all pressed particulate. NONE of the Utah cupboards or closets have wood inside
+Ashley Reinhardt Well, it's not considered to be rich really. They normally don't but if it's raining or there are babies in the house, then yes. It all depends on a particular house/apt
Fairly average house. They seem to have a lot of fancy amenities. Where I'm from pools are quite uncommon and a luxury. But 2 bed 2 bath good size kitchen and living room seems averageish. Houses are usually cheaply constructed so size isn't too much of a factor compared to typical western European houses.
Thank you for this video! It helped me a lot! My English teacher advised me to watch it! By the way, I'm Russian! And I live in Moscow! So, Moscow saw you, so to speak :)
I live in the city next to Downey called Norwalk. These are the typical homes in the area that were built in the 1940's through 1950's. A lot of these homes were expanded by adding an additional rooms mostly 2nd floor rooms since these homes were only one story. The great housing boom started in the 1970's in the southern area heading towards San Diego california. Cities like Mission Viejo, Irvine, Tustin, El Toro...etc. BTW, the dancing pole is not part of the building plan of an American house. If your young and throw alot of parties in your house then you can have a dancing pole for all the drunk ladies who want to show their talent. Also Richard Carpenter of the singing duos of the 70's "The Carpenters" lives in Downey.
I live in America. This isn't typical at all. Average is three bedrooms, maybe four, if there is a larger family, and two or three bathroom. There is a living room, maybe a "den" or "family room" one of those will most likely have a tv both of these will have couches, coffee tables, and maybe a chair or two, and some homes have fireplaces, but not all do. Older homes are more likely. There is a kitchen with a stove top and oven, a sink, full sized refrigerator, most likely a dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. There maybe a separate dining room, but if there isn't, there is still a dining room table, and chairs, usually four or more. Bathrooms have a toilet, sink, and either a shower, or a bath/shower combo. There maybe an office with a desk and computer, or just a desk somewhere with a computer. Bedrooms each have a bed with a nightstand or two, a dresser, and usually, for adults or teens, a TV. Sometimes even for older children. About half of homes, if not more have a garage.
+Sara Lockhart almost everything you've listed above is in this house. But it's more about family house. This one belongs to a young single man, so there can be differences.
+Dina Mild typical is defined as what is the most common. I just don't like the stereotype that people from some other countries have about Americans, and one's home can be very telling. A small percentage of American homes have a bar, or a stripper pole. Pools are also rare. I just don't want to perpetuate a bad stereotype of any group if it can be helped.
I love the outside structure of the house, it looks very beautiful with the green space and the trees, but I’m not sure about the inside. It might be because I grow up in Saudi Arabia where houses are bigger and that and the average distance is 400m2. But unfortunately about 40% of the house distance is dedicated for sitting rooms for guests and they’re not used regularly.
@@jabroski9096 Like what? A sofa? A TV? A shelf? A toilet? Well congratulations, most people have those too. But the reality is, that the US-middle class can't afford houses like this. Face the reality.
This really isn't a typical American home at all. The dead giveaway was the first shot of the yard Americans typically take care of their yards. Also I think most Americans decorate their homes. This house seems more like a mishmash of stuff. I do think there are some Regional differences I live on Cape Cod and people do a lot of white and blue beige most of our houses are clapboard. I lived in Virginia recently for a short while and there are a lot more brick houses there and many of them were mid-century Style. Inside people's homes they were more Antiques etc.. and re-used things.
yea i live in new jersey and my mom is CRAZY about taking care of the yard and the houses are usually yellow beige and blue (the modern houses are made out of brick and other stuff)
What i love about american houses is that they have soil all around the house! I mean, they are not hoises that are built wall to wall. I dont know how to word this 😅.
If you want to see what a typical house looks like go to zillowdotcom and pick any area and price range and look at the houses for sale. most listings will show pictures. My opinion is we live very well in the US and get a lot more living area for less than most other countries.
Unseen smxxth I commented this when I was 15 years old, now I’m 18. Nowadays I can go to California and make my dream come true, but while this Corona Virus pandemic shit, I’m not able to. I hope I’ll be there, soon..
@@stn7172 Hey, thanks for asking :)) I started studying on American Studies Faculty in university, next summer I will be able to make my dream come true and go to the USA!
*A well decorated with very nice amenities and a stripper pole American house. "yeah, my roommate was on this TV show where they decorated his room and stuff" The outside is a typical American house though.
FIRST OF ALL a ACTUAL TYPICAL house would be one that has at least 2 bedrooms ,a bathroom, kitchen, living room, dining room(Optional),basement, maybe upstairs I have no upstairs, and a porch and a driveway and yard
American here, this house is a good example of a "regular American home". Some people may say this is low class but it's not, it's right in the middle class. A teacher, police officer, software developer would buy a house like this. Although the teacher or cop might have a tight budget to afford the payments. So yes, this is the average American house.
Hi Dina, I really liked the house the perfect small house I am thinking of buying unfortunately in my country, buying a house with the pool will cost a lot, actually in my city we have more apartments than houses. Saludos desde Colombia!
Hi Dina! How's it going? I hope you're ok! I foud out your channel and it's veery usufull for me because I've been studing english by myself. I'd like to know more American routine and if you wanna do post more video like that I'll be your audience. I'm from Brazil! Take Care! Good Job!
Hi Camilo, it's nice e-meeting you! I've been on a break from my vlog but there are more videos coming soon. Stay tuned! And good luck with your English. 💪
I live in a small house with 3 bedrooms 1bathroom and horrible scratched up flooring because my dad hasn't replaced it 😢 good thing we might be building a house for my mom.... she's in a wheelchair
@@Wolfways I’m sorry. I always thought living in the UK would be easier but then I saw that the cost of living is higher and the salaries are on average $20,000 less. It’s not your fault, it’s the island driving up prices.
I have had some experience with remodeling an old California rental and this one looks like it needed way more than a steam shower. If it is a rental your deposit is gone. If it’s yours you need to make better improvements that will bring you more money on resale and a steam shower is not it son.
All right I'm an American and that's not really a typical American house if you replace the steam shower with a regular shower replace a toilet with a regular toilet get rid of our lounge and turn it back into the garage cuz I think that's what it used to be then you would have a regular American house you can tell this is a bachelor pad it's a bunch of guys that live there it's pretty much a party house with all that liquor in that house if that's what they do they work and they entertain women and drink that's pretty much their life
New York and San Francisco most expensive cities. Renting the one room flat in San Francisco about $2500.00 per month. A house in new York city $ 5,000.00-$7,000.00 or more per month. A house in rural new York state, far from city is about $3,000.00 or more per month. Much cheaper to rent out of city. Other states much cheaper. I have house 10 minutes from ocean in Florida. 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, big garage, big front and back grass yard with no crime. It's a big house near the beach and I pay $1000 per month. This house would cost $6000 -$8000 in new York per month. Also a cheapest house in San Francisco is over one million us dollars!
