More movie news dropped on us over the Christmas period - namely from a small unnotable town in England revealing business news of a potentially massive theme park expansion. Universal Pictures, responsible for practically every non-Disney you can think about, have their eyes on Britain a 2nd time and have bought land and plans to create a British version of a Univeral Studios Resort. But where in England is it? How populous will it be? And what are the pitfalls behind making a giant construction project this? I was recently in Universal Orlando for a holiday tour through the park, and our tour guide mentioned the new park in the UK. He didn’t say much about it, but he said the park would probably take a while to make.

On April fools there was an article that said the entire east side of the west edmonton mall (the biggest indoor shopping area till 2004) was gonna be turned into a universal park.

That's is a great thing! 2 hour journey to the newest location of universal in the UK, that would be a new future for many people who lives in the UK!

This is simply just heavy copium coming from a British Pokemon Fan but there was an announcement in 2021 that Universal and Pokemon would have a collaboration. Unfortunately, we haven't heard anything from them even now and if they did announce something, it will likely only be for Japan. But since one of the Pokemon Regions is Galar (based on the UK), could you imagine a Pokemon Area and Pokemon Attraction at Universal Studios Bedford?... Alright, I'll stop now.

Attractions I’d like to see in universal GB -LotR attractions - Peaky Blinders experience - Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts - a Cornetto trilogy attraction And maybe a Paddington or a House of the Dragon attraction would be cool too

Rumor has it that some IPs will be clones but allegedly they want to use British IPs for unique attractions so potentially we could get doctor who, Paddington bear,james bond, peaky blinders ect

So far everything is pointing that the new Universal theme park is to be in Spain, since they already did have it there in the time and there is a big theme park in Spain open to be sold with a lot of space to expand, which was previously co-owned by Universal. Plus usually good weather a cheap man labor

Bout time the UK had something to look forward to for once damn the Americans & the Japanese always getting the better luxury treatment than us Brits yeah I'm not proud to be British but it's like we do exist but people only recognise our stereotypes rather the culture itself.

That's so dumb ... If the goal of Universal is to make a theme park only for Bri'ish, then that's not so dumb. But if their objectif isto create a Universal park for Europe, that the dumbest idea I've ever eard XD I mean UK is no longer part of the EU, which means no espace Shengen for them, in a country that is economicly slowly diying. Their money is not even euro. And you have to cross a sea to go there. Going in the UK for an European was already a pain in the ass when they where part of the EU, but now ? They have the lowest tourist rate in the entire Europe XD There's a reason why almost every theme park in Europe is located in Germany or France (part of the Shengen space, use the same money as every Eu country (euro), thoses 2 country are (almost) in the center of Europe, and no other country. I can understand that they don't want to go in France, because of Disney, but thy have no excuses for not going in Germany. The only thme park that make sens in the UK is the Harry Potter theme park. Clearly this park is an opportunity for England, but not for Universal or the rest of Europe.

It'd be extremely stupid to build such a Theme Park in Britain. Even dumber than building EuroDisney in France. Who on Earth will want to go to a Park where it's constantly bad weather? On top of that, EuroDisney already lives mostly of European tourists. And, well, travelling to Britain has become a nightmare thanks to Brexit so forget getting a constant flow of tourists enough to financially sustain the park. Theme Parks in Europe should all stick to Southern Europe. For the same reason theme parks in America are done in Florida and Southern California, and not in New York or something. Comcast buying the terrain could also be for new studios. Unlike theme parks, filming in Britain is beneficial to film studios. (oh and if Lord of the Rings depended on Amazon's failure of a show, it'd be screwed. Nah. Lord of the Rings lives on thanks to the books and the 3 Peter Jackson films).

Britain is a big market for theme parks in general. Travelling to theme parks abroad is one of the most travelled locations that Britain holidaymakers go to whether it's theme parks in Orlando or Disneyland Paris etc. This proposed theme park if it gets greenlit, it'll take a while but will be massive for the local area and generate bank for the local economy meaning cash strapped Brits go there for a day out instead of spending 100s of pounds for tickets, travel and accommodation for theme parks abroad. The land that Comcast bought could also mean they're also potentially might be building a big film studio nearby that theme park in Bedford.
