April 12th, 2018 -- Part 4/5 of my "Stocked Trout" Series here on the Channel. In the previous videos, we talked a little bit about Gear/Setup for Stocked Trout, the ideology/philosophy behind a catch-and-take fishery, and how to find the Stocked Trout in your local bodies of water. In this video, we talk about the techniques/skills that you will need to catch them!
Included in the video is a "universal tip" when it comes to stocked Trout skills, as well as minor hints/tips throughout the video!
This is a loooooong video, folks. However, I hope you get to watch it in its entirety! And, of course, I hope you learn a lot from it.
Read the full fishing report here: COMING UP SOON.

This one is a *long one,* alright? Hah. 37 minutes long, with 15 minutes of _"teaching."_ Thus, if you are not here to learn, I don't recommend you to watch! :D Nevertheless...this video is filled with knowledge, and it is Part 4 of my *Stocked Trout Series* here on the RU-vid Channel! Enjoy!

Thank you epf! This video helped me gained so much knowledge of stocked trout fishing I've been trying to get one since I was knee high to a grasshopper and once I saw this video I learned so much from it and finally caught my first rainbow trout on a green fire tiger rooster tail spinner with the ugly stick gx2 ultralight and 6 pound trout magnet fluorocarbon line and I surprisingly caught 9 trout on that warm October day last year. But thank you leo (( hope I spelled your name right)) your videos are fun to watch and entertaining keep fishing 🤘

Very nice video worth the extra time to watch. A couple of items/technics I probably would have added are as follows: 1) Try using a spoon type lure my favorites for trout are the Super Duper and the Kastmaster. 2) Try using Berkley Magnum Power Eggs versus the dough bait they are small enough to hide in a very small egg hook, make less of a mess, and are fairly durable. I can usually get 2-3 fish on one before having to replace it. 3) Use a size 14 or smaller baitholder hook on a 2-4lb. Fluoro leader baited with a red worm or maggots and drift it through the pools on a creek without any weight on the line. Otherwise everything you put out there are productive pretty much anywhere there is hatchery trout, and I fish up and down the west coast of the US.

@kiliansimonniedermair-auer7321
It's nice that you said , that Power bait is not for catch and releas 💪👍 If I want to releas the fish afer a foto or something , I use a STREAMER or a weighted FLY with a Splintshot , 3-4 cm before the fly/streamer on the line. Than i jig it in ore just cast it sloy, you can try it if you want , I'm 100% shure that the fish wont inhale it ✊👍. And this rig will olso catch on those days were ni other rig would catch some.

17:08 last week I fish my reservoir area using a Rapala jerkbait trout color. I cast about 30 times in a spot and out of those cast I swear I had at least 10-15 trout chaser. I did slow down my retrieval but dat doesn't seem to trigger them. I had no idea wat I did wrong there, I even faster my retrieval and still no bite... I end up giving up and switched to power bait, finally got my limit in 1.5 hr... My question is what did I do wrong? My guess was the fish was just finicky dat day.

i find that when that happens a shineyer or brighter bait or twitching the bait side to side as if the bait is escapeing the trout usualy triggers 2-4 strikes just before the shore (And never letting the line slack or go too slow ofcourse)

I have a question regarding your rod. I have trouble casting the 1/64th oz jig heads more than a few feet especially in windy conditions with 4 lb test. I know I can reduce down to 2 lb but Looking into a new ultralight rod. You use a daiwa spinmatic 5'6" two piece I think. Do you know how does that compare to the presso? Also for ultralights, is longer better for casting distance? 7ft vs 5.6? I see you toss that 1/64th pretty far even with a short rod. Would the longer rod become more noodly and reduce the springing action thus reduce distance? I have a 6 ft fiberglass that is very noodly and have notice it's great for tossing 1/8th and 1/6th oz spinners, but terrible for light jig heads 1/32 and less. Thx.

The key to catching trout is to make the bait look at natural as possible. If you have the trout magnet, you should try using the float and a flourocarbon leader. That s basically all i use.

X LMFAO LMFAO x I have been catching trout my whole life. Panther Martins work great. This year I am trying jigs only and I have had good luck. I am a fan of the trout magnet and the crappie magnet the glow ones work great. I have been casting them out and letting them sit on the bottom and then just popping them letting them sit popping them letting them sit real and slowly that way. It has worked great sometimes you can let it sit for 30 seconds to a minute and you can feel the fish playing with it. This is because it is in Colorado and the water is just warming up so the fish are lethargic. As it warms up they will become more active and this technique will not work anymore and I will have to change
@mememan3393
@mememan3393 6 лет назад
Stocked trout should eat that stuff up, you have to find the trout and they will eat it, if you found the trout and there not eating it keep changing your presentation and down size you line from whatever it’s at to 2lb test

One thing I've noticed is , trout fishermen are alot friendlier than bass fishermen. When fishing for trout as long as you respect their space trout fishermen will tell you where they are what bait to use and will for the most part help you if you have a problem. Bass fishermen hate it when you fish near them give you the evil eye and wont tell you anything. They will show you the fish they've caught and say what they used but dont give you specifics on location or offer to help at all.

Shakespeare is a lower end but are fine if your starting out. I only use ultra light for trout.
