A Variety of Sound! Reaction to BAND-MAID "Forbidden Tale"

Genre, Category, Stereotypes,,, All of this melts away in front of BAND-MAID. MAIDIT!!!!

Taken from their recently released album 'Epic Narratives'. The band have always been wonderful. But somehow they continue to grow and evolve. After eleven years some bands feel as if they are going through the motions. But this band promises never to stay still. I tend to agree about the genre. They play what we now understand to be the Band Maid genre. Most anything and everything works well and can be performed brilliantly.

I joke that the Who took an entire album to produce a "rock opera" Tommy. Band-Maid did that in four and a half minutes! They used every musical genre known to man in this song!

Band-Maid is their own genre. Makes it easier that way. This song is of the new album and I am so happy I pre-ordered the deluxe edition. Looking forward to it arriving. I like when they just let Kanami go insane with the composition, she has so many cool ideas. We should all be extra thankful to Band-Maid for helping Mrs Coach see the light! First, I hope all is well with you and your loved ones.🙏 That hurricane was no joke. Second, thank you for continuing to support the Maids in their endeavor for World Domination. You're right, this band deserves so much more attention than they are currently receiving. This is an amazing reaction to an amazing song, from a epic brand new album, released on 9/25/24, called "Epic Narratives". And this song is an epic narrative on its own. Love the expressions at 1:37, the first transition catches many off guard.😆 Coach, you're right, this could have easily been 3-4 different songs, but this is Band-Maid. As Mrs. Coach mentioned...."Well it's Band-Maid. What do you expect....?" As for Saiki, you right, her voice is much more powerful and has more depth since her vocal cord polyp surgery in the summer of 2017. Since then, with vocal training to protect her vocal cords her singing technique and sounds has become more "matured". PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘 P.S. Ballads might be your kryptonite, but one of the best songs on this new album, "The One", is amazing. I'm sure Mrs. Coach would definitely love it. Take one for the team Coach. Give it a try. It might change your mind on ballads. Heck, Band-Maid has changed Mrs. Coach's view on Rock, maybe they can work their magic again.😆

My CD of EPIC NARRATIVES is starting to wear out already! This is the 6th MV from the album, as they released 5 more over the past 4 months - SHAMBLES, PROTECT YOU, BESTIE, MEMORABLE and SHOW THEM (with The Warning). They are, obviously, all excellent and MEMORABLE is gorgeous. Lyrics on Forbidden Tale are by Saiki, the lead vocalist, by the way.

The songs already released earlier in the year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. “Well it’s Band Maid what do you expect” is the perfect reaction to Band Maid doing Band Maid things. They are a genre unto themselves and yes they should be mega-stars as Coach so aptly stated. This song is the epitome of Band Maid’s music. Great vocals, great musicianship, catchy hooks, beautiful melodies all brought together in song that is so pleasing to the ears. They are maturing in their craft and we the Maidiacs are reaping the benefits of this great music. Thanks for the reaction Coach and Mrs. Coach.

I'm with you Coach, like that the song took off from the ballad start. I do like ballads, but don't usually go looking for them. This does have a variety of sounds, and yes they made it work , and work very well. Many of the Japanese bands, at least to my American ear, tend to have a variety in their sounds. I don't know if these are on your 'to do' list yet , but a couple you might want to check out are Gacharic Spin and Hanabie. Suggest "Mindset" by Gacharic Spin, and "Pardon Me I Have To Go Now" or "We Love Sweets" by Hanabie.

So many people died in the hurricane. This song is very spiritual. Is it about life and death? Is it about staying connected to loved ones beyond death?

Coach I'm with you 100% with regard to ballads. Ballads ruined REO, ruined Journey, ruined Foreigner, many others.

Hopefully you and Mrs Coach didn't get hit to hard with Helene. I'm assuming because you uploaded this that you are good.. Saiki's voice has matured she had to have vocal surgery several years ago and she learned to care for her self.

I wouldn't say it's a number of genres. It's one which is rock music. I get what you are trying to say. It's starts out soft and is then split into stop starts, and drum fills in-between the stops and starts. I wish the guitarist would ditch the maid outfit. It was fine when they started, but they have been hokng for a while. I'm not sleeping on them as they just don't grab me. The song is very good, though.
