Heather, I make yogurt with my goats milk. Heat the milk to 180 degrees Farenheit. Then let milk cool to 120. Add culture, mix well and pour in desired container. Keep in oven with light for 24 hours. Instead of the oven, you can use your dehydrator, set temperature to 110 for 7-9 hours. Refrigerate when done. Hope it works for you!

oooh coyotes. Glad you found those babies before they were coyote snacks! I'm having a milk day too; I don't have a seperator but if my girls milk sits about 4-5 days without moving it does seperate somewhat. And I skim it with a spoon before I dump it into the cheese pot. This morning I got a bout 1 1/4 pints of thick cream from about 4 gallons of milk. It's getting chilly now so I won't make more ice cream; I'm going to save it up in the freezer and make butter. I have been making a fairly thick yogurt by putting a couple tablespoons of chobani brand low fat greek yogurt (which doesn't have anything but milk and cultures) into pint jars. (I couldn't get the No fat one to work as well) Then pour warm from the goat milk in. I set them in my instant pot and add 105-110F water about halfway up the jars. I do put lids on the jars but just set on there, not fastened down. Set the instantpot yogurt button for 24 hours. It's been coming out pretty thick; not quite as thick as the commercial and it does get a little bit runny if I stir it a lot but the flavor is where I like it and it's thick enough for me. I don't eat as much yogurt when it's cold so haven't checked what's in the fridge. I have done several batches using home made once I got it started.

Just have to figure it out so it is repeatable. Goatie goats are great, thank you for including a little bit of them too. That was a big fat mess but cleaning behind the stove was very needed so it worked out lol!!! What an awesome bunch of dairy products! And when you opened that whopper of a cheese - WOW! The yogurt result did make me giggle just a little - and I wonder if the resulting stuff under the whey has a consistency of mozzarella? Cheers for the parmesan-style - I didn't know it was not made from cow's milk for the original stuff, so that's another reason for me to try dairy sheep maybe. Who knows? LOL But I think it's awesome for you to have pulled out that cream separator to deal with your burden of abundance of goat milk and been able to make so many products from that session! This is largely going to come down to personal preference. I would only consume raw milk from disease-free animals as some diseases are zoonotic and do come out in the milk. I will put the video idea on the list, it's a great topic! Here is a great video on the subject too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hE29trztGDQ.htmlsi=MQvGW-Idb7FWURRn

Jess’s channel gave you a shout out today. That was very cool. Can you tell me more of how to make The Kefir? Do you keep it out? How often can you drink it how much? Can I use fair-life milk

In the description of this video I put our dairy playlist and the whole kefir video is in there. It's much easier to see the process vs read it :)

Hey there very quick question! I have five goats, two ND’s (one weather), one saanen, and two lamancha mixes all under a year old and intended to breed when they are ready! I feel as though I may have been misguided by the individual I was getting info from! What is the BEST combination of things to give and feed? What should they eat daily and what supplements should be free fed? I am so confused by the abundant info

Hey!!! I do milk testing (my YT channel is Ourfunnyfarm!) and I’ve learned so much about BF and protein and how to raise it, here’s my tips: - Add beet pulp to their diet! It can help a lot with weight/butterfat with its high fiber content - cut DOWN on protein - add a stemier hay to the mix, the long stemmed forage can also help raise BF - rice bran and oats are another great thing to help raise BF! Hope this helps!

How much protein is in your feed?
@madzzz1659
@madzzz1659 4 часа назад
@@SageandStoneHomestead I feed a 16% protein year round to the does, but if I’m seeing a protein inversion (more protein then BF) I will add more fiber to their feed or give a senior horse feed instead.

Hey! Have you ever froze your goats milk, then thawed it and been able to separate the cream from it? I only have 1 goat in milk right now, so I was gonna store it in the freezer. Until I had a few gallons and can order a cream separator. Also what Cream separator do yall have? Or would suggest getting?
@SageandStoneHomestead
@SageandStoneHomestead 6 часов назад
Hi there! I have never tried that but it seems like it would work just fine to thaw and then heat to 100 and separate! We have the Slavic Beauty cream separator from Caprine Supply :)

I have heard the milk can get more fats later on in the animals lactation. I think (not sure) I heard that from blue cactus YT about a year or so ago. Do you think that is a possibility for your larger cheese or am I mistaken?
@SageandStoneHomestead
@SageandStoneHomestead День назад
That is possible! Maybe something about their pregnancies is making the milk fattier.

I've been stalking your channel for a while now. We will be moving to SE Indiana in the spring to 18 acres. I want to get dairy goats instead of a milk cow. Then I joined some fb groups for goats. There seems like gots get sick and die quickly. Are they really that hard to raise and care for? I realize fb has a lot of people who post for attention, comments, clicks etc. I try to weed through that. But your goats don't seem to be sick often. I just don't want to get stuck in a money pit with sick animals, vet bills medicine costs on top of feed costs. Enlighten me please!
@SageandStoneHomestead
@SageandStoneHomestead День назад
They can be sick if they are not cared for properly. It's common to think that goats can eat anything and thrive and that is just not the case. They need quality feed and minerals to thrive, and a good long-stemmed forage. Some animals are more sensitive than others and I do have 1 or 2 die despite my efforts each year. This year one passed but I didn't talk about it here, it was one that was supposed to be a meat goat and I think he succumbed to worm pressure.

Does the neighbor not know how to keep his cows in? It just seems like they get out often and become a problem for others. Just curious...
@SageandStoneHomestead
@SageandStoneHomestead День назад
I don't know how they get out really The fence is great but there are a lot of gates. Maybe there is a cow that likes to play with the latches? Not sure! The neighbors put up a fence between us and them this spring so when the cows get out they are really a non-issue here anymore and they walked back where they belong when led with a bucket. :)
@RaysMiniMenagerie
@RaysMiniMenagerie День назад
@SageandStoneHomestead well, I'm glad they at least know how to get them back in without issues, lol. Its probably a cow unlocking a gate. I've seen them do that, lol.
