"...and quickly realized I shouldn't be considering it, I should be doing it." That actually made me snort. Shame about your buttonholes not cooperating.

When I saw pictures of the blouse in your Sewing Through the Decades video, I didn't even realize it had such a whimsical print. Maybe I am just oblivious, but I think the blouse could pass as "normal" at first glance and definitely works as a day to day garment.

I think having the plain black on the back of the blouse helps focus the eye on that fabulous print - happy circumstance!

Angela you are a very talented maker! It’s why we watch. Part of sewing is finding the best way to get the job done, and you are very good at that. I love this outfit, that blouse is gorgeous and I have been trying to get a perfect part of black pants for a couple decades now. BTW I think there is a moment in the process for all of us where we decide whether we like and enjoy what we are doing or not. I’ve been sewing for 50+ years and have hit that place many times. Nice to know I’m not alone.

O.m.G. i have that exact same fabric and had no idea what to do with it!!! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I am going to try and attempt this. Love your channel btw. Also, for anyone who wants to know the fabric she is using for the shirt is J. Wecker Frisch queen of we'en card panel. Happy sewing!!

Yay! The "silly rules" question was mine. Sometimes I am lucky enough to teach others how to sew (mostly 10/11 year olds) and I always tell them that any method that gets the job done is a good method.

Brilliant outfit! Love the fabric, but especially enjoyed the way you chose to film this video. It was informative, but hearing your thought process throughout was especially pleasing. It’s quite easy when locked away in our sewing space to bog ourselves down with doubts an self criticism, but to see we are not the only ones is lovely. The finished result is lovely and I’m especially in love with the blouse. Really enjoy watching you work, you never fail to inspire me.

While I LOVE your elaborate and historical garments, I'm really glad that you've been making clothes from a more modern period - I'm switching over to sewing a lot of my wardrobe and so watching you make shirts and pants and everyday jackets etc has been really really helpful and inspiring.

Emergency long crotch alteration. Turn your trousers inside out. Sew up the entire length of the inseam, up one leg and down the other. Taper to take out as much as needed at the crotch. Re hem the cuffs, as the pants legs will be longer. I realize you probably already know this move , but it was the only way to get my pants legs long enough. I would buy larger pants and do this alteration, I didn't re hem, because I needed longer pants legs. I would put a small dart or two in the waistband if needed.

I love how this came together. The accessories are spot on too! If there's ever a time u need a break or your not finished with a garment, could u possibly do a look book from the decades with pieces you already made? It would refresh the memories of those who have been here for a while and let newbies know how truly talented u are! Just a suggestion. Love your work 🎀💓💓💓🎀

hahaha i love how dark the vegetable question got 😂 PS that blouse is GORGEOUS!! PLEASE can i have it 😜...i recently hand sewed pant hems with a travel sewing kit, and put a button on a cardigan with the ugliest messiest buttonhole u have ever seen, and i was so proud haha 🤷 i especially love how the outline of the card on the print makes a nice border line right beside the buttons, and that gorgeous little curl detail coming down the middle of the front - looks 100% deliberate! ➰👚

I love the high waisted look with that belt. Sometimes accidents are a good thing. Great blouse!!! I also have to tell you how much I enjoy your videos of the whole make. So few youtubers do that. I've been seeing since I was 8 and am about to turn 65. I've worked in construction of backpacks, fish ing vests etc and done alterations. Can you recommend other youtubers who are similar to you and your method of filming? Thanks again, love all your videos.

When I have to re-stitch buttonholes but the fabric weave has weakened, I baste a small square of interfacing within the two fabrics. Between the blouse front and the fabric interfacing. I prefer the lightness of the sewn in interfacing, as opposed to the stiffness of iron on or seam bias tape. Lovely videos. Thank you. 👚
