I always had the feeling I'm the laziest person on earth. Procrastinated until the latest moment. Having a hard time to even start with something. But it was due to my lack of confidence. When I think about it, everytime I start a project, I'm motivated at the beginning, but sooner or later doubts start to appear in me until I quit. For me it's not about being lazy, but about building up my confidence. Great and informational video as always :)

Rite of Passage I can relate. At the beginning of a big project sometimes I feel like I can’t see the end product... the closer I get to the deadline I find I start getting more motivated and more ideas. My creativity spikes as the stress level increases. Do you experience this?

​@@ThePositivityPrincess I totally understand what you mean. To be honest, I'm not the person who works better with more or less pressure, it doesn't matter to me. For me it's the issue to get over my blockage, which is solely generated by my brain, to even start with a task. The longer I work on a project without any success, the bigger the blockage and self doubts get, which ultimately leads to me give up on the project. This is at least what happened very often in the past. I really try to overcome this attribute of my personality. That's why I have started to document my journey out of depression here on YT.

@@riteofpassage6109 I can completely relate to the issue you're having with blockage... I used to always put everything in time just so I won't have to deal with potential failing so as a result I was rarely ever starting anything and as time passed I learned that I have to be okay with the possibility of failing because it comes with taking any type of risks in life.

@xo_kryptoknight I think that it is helpful to create easier or smaller tasks within your big tasks. That might be the only good approach for those tasks. I think she is trying to emphasize that we may be making those easy tasks equal in value to bigger tasks.

I think it’s a good criticism but not necessarily something we should take off completely. I’d say if possible- add value or priorities to the tasks to ensure their importance.

if it is a compounded 1%, then that would be (1.01)^365.25=37.8775 So, between 37 and 38 times improvement. (compare to 365.25% improvement which would be 3.6525 times improvement).

When I’m feeling unmotivated is because I haven’t prepared myself to tackle the day with the right mindset. First thing in the morning (working or days off ) I make myself a coffee and I read for half an hour the Gospel of J. Christ. I reflect on how to apply what I read during the day. I take another 15 min. to repeat out loud the affirmations that I previously wrote at the beginning of the month. I pray to God and immediately after I take a shower and start my busy day. It works like a charm! I’ve being doing this for years now! My life has improved for the better since I’m renewing and reprogramming my subconscious mind.

i learned that even good helpful things can become a HUGE distractions. For example, i find your videos SO SO helpful and of value, yet as i'm watching one of your video (instead of doing what i need to do) i see on the right other suggested video by you, and there's always one catching my attention and interest. So i watch it, then there's another one etc. (yes it is testament to how great you are). The problem is with me obviously, but it shows that anything, good or bad can be a distraction.

When I feel lazy, I set the lever on my goals much higher than before. I accumulate dopamine, then I feel really excited and this motivates me to do it. Thanks for this video Lana!

I really like your tip about putting your workout clothes within reach the night before. I find that if my gym clothes aren’t out in the morning, I’ll make a big deal out of looking for them and use this as an excuse to talk myself out of exercising. I’ll definitely be putting them out tonight! The covid-19 situation has made me feel very demotivated as I’m not currently working and I’m feeling very down and stressed about the whole situation (for the obvious reasons). I’ve been using the time however to produce one sketch every day and to upload each sketch to Instagram to track my progress. This has been rewarding and it has been quite motivating to see the progression in my drawings even after just a short period of time. It also keeps me inside and keeps me calm; an added bonus! :)

This was such a fantastic video. I started my RU-vid channel and it came to a screeching halt when I lost clarity. The objective has to be clear especially if you are more Type A (and or an overthinker) and need organization with everything.

I don't watch other self-improvement female youtubers (because it might be hard to relate to their female perspective), but you are only one who I am following. Great authentic videos with a lot of good information!

What I usually do before going to bed, is writing down good ideas which I think about during the moments before I go to sleep, because those moments tend to be my most creative moments. This way I'll sleep well and I won't think about the fact that I'll forget anything, because I've written down my thoughts. I usually like to prepare things for the next day in the morning too. Even the simple things like picking my clothing for the next day, so I can just put my clothing on and am ready to go. These things help me sleep well and have a good start in the morning. I rarely work with a checklist or targetlist. Perhaps I'll write a few notes down in my cell phone, in case I think I'll forget, but I usually know the things I need to get done during the day and will just get them done. When it comes to overthinking I think it's better to make a list of pro's and con's and make a decision based on that information (like I mentioned as a comment in one of your earlier videos), that way you don't have to spend too much time overthinking or being in doubt. I usually perform self reflection in the evening before going to bed and I agree that one of the hardest things is being honest with yourself. But once you can and are you can turn that into really useful information and learn to understand how not to do certain things, or how to do them more efficiently. P.S.: If I'm feeling lazy I just keep telling myself what needs to get done. Eventually I start annoying the hell out of myself, because I still didn't peform the task and I eventually just do it. It may be a silly technique, but it works for me.

Hey Lana, I found this video very helpful. As you said, it's pretty simple tips but very helpful. One thing I will definitely try out is defining the intention of whatever I'm doing. Not being aware of the point of your project or whatever, definitely contributes to a lack of motivation. In the last few weeks, I also started practicing the Pomodoro Technique and it works so well for me. I actually get things done, because I actively take time to "procrastinate" for a bit, yet still being productive. Thank you for sharing your tips and acknowledging the fact of how important the night before is!

When this lockdown started 8 weeks ago, I was super motivated and was very productive and was learning new things. I also was the support system for my circle of friends and would call them and check in with them and sometimes just a conversation was needed to make both of us feel better. But as the weeks have turned into months I now have started feeling drained. The calls have gotten fewer. I noticed eating bad foods for 8 weeks are now showing on my body and my brain and energy. It’s a bad path I find myself on now. My frustration with politicians and media who have lied endlessly was turning into anger. So this past week I divorced myself from media and tv which is the best thing I’ve done. I now am craving these types of channels to keep me going forward. I now will start exercising tomorrow as per your video a couple weeks ago. So thank you. I feel I discovered your channel at the right time.

I find it's good to assess your goals time to time and make sure Your goals or targets Excite you. sometimes we do things we think we should but not what genuinely gets Us going.

I take time to rest and evaluate my motivations or reasons to continue what I'm supposed to be doing. A breath of fresh air helps me to gain a new perspective and find a new source of energy to go on. I may not have the same resources and environment to make this happen, but this should not hinder me from instilling discipline in myself and keep up with what I need to accomplish. 🤓 Kudos to you, Lana. 🥰

you are right, when I feel good = productive. Or else lack of focus, distractions and procrastination galore. so I learned from watching this video to PREP the night before ... I usually do my 3 challenge list in the AM and uh, sometimes, ok most of the time don't get to them.

well spoken and so practical for uplifting oneself - my tip would be to count to five or ten and just get up to do what you have to do to avoid procrastination - works for me most of the time and now become a habit - your ideas are similar to preparing yourself for the next day or week and getting to doing most of the tasks done given that circumstances , weather & other events all fall in place - Bravo girl

recently, i felt into the lazy mode and kept playing game hours and hours without my mother knowing that. And when she found out I was playing game through the night, she was very upset and disappointed and wasn't shrink from giving me a piece of her mind. At that time, I was so frustrated and sad, I know I've let my mother down, but when I find something, your channel's always be there in time to calm me down. I have to confess, as much as I felt guilty or frustrated, when watching your video, all of those negative feelings are gone. Thanks for all of your videos, my bad mood doesn't last long, and I can pull myself together and get back on track much more easier 😊

One thing that I do is target list! I call them target list too just like you! I only put the hard task on target list ! Also what I do is put sticky notes on the wall of my room to remind myself about the most important tasks! On the day of the task it gets easier bcoz the sticky notes reminds me and so does target list! I also created “later” task list ! Also you are right some unexpected things could arise on the task day ! And I realize there are lot of times I doubt whether my videos are good enough or whatever I m creating is good enough ! So I just give myself 2 minutes to decide whether to stop the project! Your tips are amazing
