Hey Boneyard! What a cool piece to add to your collection. Love your tenacity. I had to step away from a Poulan 2900 Farmhand for about a week. It was really getting under my skin. I say leave it. Thats my style. ~Dr. C.
That's a pretty cool little unit! I have a very similar engine to yours, mines a 1954 if I remember correctly. You could definitely make a neat little display with that thing! 2 things I'd advise are actually lapping the valves in, I suspect that is where most of your misfire is and also pulling the pan off this thing and checking / cleaning the oil pump. Mine was a horrible greasy mess... Also I think that block is very easily welded or brazed so I'm sure you can get that done. Or you might be able to do one of those compression ring things on it too potentially.
I did pull the pan. I did that off camera because the video was getting long. I am pretty sure the misfire is coming from the valves but I didn’t want to take the head back off because I didn’t have a gasket. There will be another video on that little thing. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
