This 1949 Willys Jeepster was purchased by my late grandfather in 1958 and painted in 1959. My father remembers driving it in 1975 and it's been in storage ever since! Let's see if we can get it running and back on the road! This one is NOT FOR SALE!! As always, thanks for watching!

Well there was some snow and some heart touching moments but it's no Hallmark series! The Willys pickup was just the guy who was storing the Jeepster for the last 21 years so we probably won't be seeing that one on the channel anytime soon! Thanks for watching and commenting Glenn!

So cool to finally meet your Dad! He is about my age. I had a 1947 CJ2A Jeep back in the early 1970's that I kind of restored, well, got running and drove around for a while. This video is quite interesting to me. Brings back lots of early Jeep memories! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a great year ahead.

that thing is worth a trip to a good body shop for paint and interior. it's a collectible for sure. Sounds like your dad wants to restore it. You both seem to have a good sentimental reason to keep it in the family and return it to it's former glory.

If the paint is fair it is best to get it running, and clean it up. You would be surprised how well some true restorations can turn out. You don't restore something unless you have to.

Not bad at all, the mention of grandpa brought a tear to my eye I wish I could have spent more time with mine. The kindest loving person who would just smile at me and we did spend time together most summers growing up, taught me how to tie my shoes and shave that covers some years. You certainly have a great family my pops is gone so is mom and I just don't have the same interest in life that I once had, not so many years ago. Been through a grip of life changes I'm 8n my 60's, still got a bucket list and some foals I want to occomplish so haven't given up yet. Glad to find your tube man it's cool.

Hey Mortske & Duff. That was an outstanding video. Really cool to see you and your dad work together. Lost my dad when I was 19. I am a 1955 vintage by the way. Guess that makes me 2 years older than your dad. That's quite a lineage you have when it comes to hotrods and mechanical stuff in general. I met a guy that owned a Conoco station near where I lived. I was around 13. His name was Donovan Crandall. He was an ace when it came to anything automotive and fabricating. I loved shadowing him. He taught me the trade hands on making mistakes as I learned. By age 14 I was rebuilding engines. My first rebuild was a Ford 272 Y-block. Hand cutting ring ridges and grinding valves and seats and knurling the guides. I even learned how to file down knurled pistons to fit. I've probably changed hundreds of points & condenser sets in my career. I still have the AC Delco dwell meter Don gave me in 1970. Merry Christmas to you and Duff. Thanks.

I started selling firewood to make some extra cash during the winter months so my stump was sacrificed for the greater good. Selling firewood is how I plan on buying vehicles like you do. I'm fortunate to live in an area where I can take my modified 1988 Bolens garden tractor behind my house to cut deadfalls. Last year I cleared enough profit to buy my first pro 60cc saw. I bought a Husqvarna 562XP. Now I can cut larger trunks instead of leaving them in the woods. I was going to buy my first project car this winter but my wife got Covid and we had to rely on the extra income from firewood sales to get us through Christmas. I don't mind being patient. I live in Michigan so vehicles here are in a similar condition as the ones you find there. That makes them cheaper 😁 I appreciate all of the work you put into sharing your projects with us. It motives me and I learn a lot. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

We had a '46 4-63, 2-WD station wagon. That passenger front seat back should fold down and the entire seat should fold forward. Starting: mechanical choke and throttle. Pull out your choke, a little pull on the throttle, then your foot on the starter. That electric (?) overdrive is like gold. Enables you to make speed on the Interstate. Yours also has an oil filter, mine did not. We added a Franz filter, which used a roll of toilet tissue as the filter. Narragansett Bay

My 48 Jeepster has a Chevy 350. Turbo 350 trans. Ford 8” rear. Mustang 2 ifs. Yep, got carried away. Had a 50 Willys pickup too. 100% stock. Had a panel delivery for a bit. Kinda rough 48 has flat front fenders. Newer ones have peaked fenders.

Grandfather's are the best. Mom's Dad passed a month before I was born so I didn't know him. Dad's father was who I learned a lot from. Fishing, crabbing and boats were Pop's forte. That and drinking Ortlieb's. He was a Chris-Craft guy. Had two different 24' cruisers. He passed when I was 18. I miss you much Romano.

I’m digging those square sockets!as I too, own those square easy outs and agree with you on which ones are generally better to use. However, I also own round easy outs too and believe they have their place! Use CLR or Limeaway for coolant fire up the engine and allow engine to warm up a little then let it sit long enough to remove the rust clogging the coolant passages. Also marvel’s mystery oil is your friend when Unsticking a engine by filling each cylinders and leaving it for a week or so. Potentially even CLR to remove rust from those Cylinders! You mentioning the importance your grandpa’s had on your life caused some dust to get into my eyes thinking about mine and my Dad as they played an important part of my life!

Actually commenting as Dean-some 60 years ago and beyond I spent quite a few hours with your uncle Jerry and your aunt Deb (who was usually babysitting your uncle Todd) cruising around in the Jeepster so you brought back some great memories for this old timer. Got lots of stories from those days we'll have share over a few beers some time. Glad to see it running again, always thought it was a super cool set of wheels.

Bought mine Jeepster 2013 ... total wreck. Welded and painted my -50 Jeepster. Same colors as yours. Put Chevy V6 with auto under the hood. Original was F-head six and 3 speed overdrive. Had to change rear axle, now there is 64 Mustang axle. Just a little wiring jobs to do... Very rare in Europe and especially here in Finland...

I know this is an older video but I was so happy to see that he got himself a ultrasonic cleaner and was looking forward to when he pulled the parts out and saw how nice a job it did cleaning the carburetor. They are so awesome at cleaning I even use them to clean fuel filters so I can reuse them. 6 L is definitely too small, it is rather misleading I have several and you want to get the largest one you can afford since you can always fill it with water and put the part that you were cleaning inside a jar or a plastic bag with the medium that you want to use to clean it with without having to fill the entire cleaner. You also want to make sure that you fill it more than he did because the heating elements go up farther than you think and can burn out the heating elements in the ultrasonic cleaner ultrasonic cleaner. I have one that I dropped an entire trash pump into to clean used vegetable oil that had petrified itself on to the pump, cleaned it slick as a whistle.

Movie time with morgan or me showing your video as the one to show while having a few bits of tea. Just good old fashion tea. I really enjoyed this rig your showing as I have, had several seems as though cause it just a me thing I enjoy. You are quite talented and Puddin is faking it till he makes it then balls us out when we see something wrong so he gets the doesn't play well with others... that said as to that bold statement... I always give likes out as no one wants to get a low ball from anyone like wall-tube. I don't know why but when I show different videos here, someone will request this one so we just watch it over... of course I like it too

1948 Jeepsters came in only red or yellow lacquer with black above the trim and was common through the end of production. The door latches were redesigned in 1949 but yours still has the early style. The lightweight hub cap is a repro. Oil filters were optional. Most were mounted on the engine and drained back into that fitting you saw on the timing gear cover. My California car was a rust bucket compared to yours, excellent find! I would throw away those steel brake lines but that's just me. Yours had an oil bath air filter mounted on the right fender. The big gap between the radiator and the fan was taken up by a steel shroud. After rebuilding mine my wife and I drove to N.H. and back last fall with few issues. Fun car.
