Church of the Annunciation was built in 1967 to serve the growing suburb of Finglas on the northside of Dublin. It was one of the largest churches built in Dublin and could accommodate 3,500 people. A decision was made by the parish in 2017 that due to smaller numbers attending mass, it was costing a lot to maintain the church and that it would be demolished and replaced by a smaller church. The last mass at Church of the Annunciation takes place on Sunday 7th October 2018.

Such a nice church inside-but so BIG ! This is probably twice the size,of my local Catholic parish church. I understand they want to knock it down, and build a smaller church in it’s place. A smaller church would be cheaper to heat and maintain, and I note that Finglas has several other Catholic Churches locally,so I can see why this one has been singled out !
