Strange, I thought the opposite was true. They completly dodged the second question & the third was just a vauge stock answer. The questions weren't great tbh. The third was angeling for something, lol. Robin has a product/service in mind me thinks. Can't blame him for that tho.

Each to their own but where history is concerned it's a really good idea to check all the facts and circumstances of the time before making statements about the background of a company. Back to your video, the tools look great, the company ethos is great and as ever Robin you're 👍

I work in the film industry and we've been using exo-skeleton rigs for years. Check out an Easi Rig.They're made in Sweden, but there are cheaper Chinese versions. Camera operators on dramas and commercials have to carry heavy camera packages to shoot hand held if they're not on a tripod or camera dolly, and the Easi Rig does that. I don't know what the Hilti set up costs, but its exactly the same thing.

When I first started in the building game Hilti was a tool you could only really hire, they made all the 'big' tools their quality cannot be called into question but...as a single/self employed 'contractor' their pricing has always been out of reach to most, I still feel they are for the larger firms especially on 'lease' which is a great idea. From where I sit the rise of Festool in the top end quality tools has made them go into the 'lower' end of 'hand' power tools (Am I right in thinking Hilti were 1st with SDS bits?) (Robin covertly try to sell his roofing square app to Hilti, if only you square has a motor on it and was battery operated :)) Props to Hilti to offer up not only the Owner but the board to ask questions to! How before Festool start offering the 'leasing' deal? or do you think their sales are where they want them to be. very informative video, at the age of 62 I just watch which wonder of what the future hold with the technology involved.
@TheDoosh79
@TheDoosh79 8 месяцев назад
Clearly the fleet management/van lease analogy makes a lot of sense for the bigger firms. I think a lot of one man band traders still buy their van outright and run it until it dies, same with tools. I think there is a massive hurdle in the trades in that there is a very closed mindset to new ideas, the "well that's how we've always done it" brigade is a reason a lot of the workmanship quality seems to be at an all time low.
@peaceranger7215
@peaceranger7215 8 месяцев назад
This is a good point - I have observed that a lot of fellow trades people (probably everyone not watching these videos) are only interested in the easy money rather than the skill and growth of knowledge - you need to love your work and always be striving for the best technical results (even if that means redoing it all again), the latest tools and training are critical .... otherwise you're in the wrong game.

They already have had those crane things for cameramen for absolute years, called the Easyrig. Actually rrally helped with carrying heavy tv cameras all day and allowed you to 'shoot from the hip' more easily. Can see how it would be useful in heavy construction despite all the hate.

Whatever Hilti tools I have ever used. They have been good tools. And as you say the distribution in house. Back in the UK in the late eighties I started leasing my work vehicle. On a three year lease. And yes you can lease Hilti tools. This probably works in a lot of places. But by only doing self distribution they are drastically reducing the access to their tools. In Qld Australia where I now live. I can drive an hour to my closest tool shop. In fact an hour will get me to three of the biggest tool shops we have. The nearest Hilti outlet about a two hour drive. And it isn't very big. I guarantee they would not have loan replacements. I would also bet it would likely be weeks to get the tool back. Not days. And there is no service to get the tool back to me. So would be a four hour round trip to go and collect. The tool monitor system probably would also be useless. As a lot of areas I work have no phone coverage. So in short you may have good tools. But the premium service you are paying for is not available. If I lived in Brisbane a bit more so. But to get the full benefit you would probably have to live in Melbourne or Sydney. So by limiting outlets this has reduced the full potential sales area to one corner of the country. Not sure about Perth.
@jordancobilanschi3662
@jordancobilanschi3662 2 месяца назад
Yeah bro but you're forgetting one thing living in australia, the only way u can ruin these tools is by droping them in water. With the way you guys build there you can actually use hilti 24/7 and they won't fail. Hilti is insane in europe and we have reinforced concrete bricks and hard construction not cardboard and wood like you guys so.. yeah pay premium its no problem. As an example their te17 from 1970 still works, I haven't broke a hilti in 20 years..i just update them or replace them if get stolen. If u use grease for drills and a compresor at the end of the day to blow dust. You gonna die before your tools do.
@wrightwoodwork
@wrightwoodwork 8 месяцев назад
Ive being using hilti products for over 25 years the cost has always been expensive compared to your mid range tools like dewalt, makita. Bosch. What you do get in return is a no argument back up service and in the worst case cant be repaired a replacement tool for free . I recently had a drill that needed fixing got repaired but then it managed to get lost in re delivery back to the store. As it had being missing for a month i did avengly say i wasn't happy about it and could i get it replaced for the new version as i was on the old version but had started to get some of new platform nuron tools. From the point of asking it was changed the next day. The drill was a year old and im not on fleet management as i prefer to pay out right with out the worry of having a tool bill every month.

First thought that came to mind, remember seeing Dean Doherty's teardown of the GX90WF Framing nailer for £1294.80, reality is it's a rebranded budget TJEP nailer worth around £504.95, different housing, all the same internals, i.e the bits that make the tool last. Funny seeing comments of that nailer saying It's the best nailer going, so much better than xyz equivelant. It's amazing what a bit of branding and inflated price can do to the perception of a product.

Bosch invented sds. Hilti, Mafell etc have always been marketed to businesses rather than consumers, hence the price of the majority of their tools is out of reach for your average Joe. Festool markets to consumers, so their pricing is lower, and their tools although decent are more gimmicky.
