A visit to the Donner Party Camp the Winter of 1846/1847 

I snowshoed to visit the Donner Party Camp the Winter of 1846/1847 near Truckee California. The Donner Party left Missouri the spring of 1846 heading to California. The pioneers reached the Sierra Nevada mountains by November but an early snow trapped them. Of the 87 pioneers that started in the group 48 survived the ordeal.
