Great to see Brasted, where many years ago I was a lodger at Brasted Place. If my memory is right, the White Hart pub next door had a board up with signatures of WW2 pilot 5:20 😅s included Sir Douglas Badger. Thanks for showing Brasted. Brilliant
My Dad would drive us through Brasted on his way to Hythe to see his siblings when I was a child in the 1960's/1970's. I haven't been that way for years
Another great video Marq, living in Biggin, I travel through Brasted all the time, never really got out and wandered around though... I must do that! The white Hart did have (it may still have) a blackboard with signatures from pilots of RAF Biggin Hill during WW2. It was preserved and was on display in there last time I went in. The White Hart pub became the unofficial HQ for the pilots (more likey to get a pint away from the airfield).
White hart hotel famous for fighters in ww2 flying from biggin Hill there was a buzzer system from biggin Hill to pub pilots used to jump in their Jeeps and fly out from biggin Hill.famous blackboard in pub of fighter pilots signature original in hendon war museum. I was bar cellarman at white hart from 1978 -1985 many happy memories.
Very enjoyable, Marq - I’ve only ever driven through the village. I had to look up where the church was on a map, it’s tucked away a little to the north, like the one at nutfield, further west.
Interesting to see Brasted as I knew someone who came from there. Her mother's first husband got killed at biggin hill during the war. I wondered what Brasted looked like. Thank you.
At the other end of the village from the white Hart on the right there is a road called Church road on the main road corner there is a white house that used to be the Bull pub up the lane is a very nice pub called the stanhope arms & the church is just passed that. The white Hart was used by second world war pilots from Biggin hill it used to have a board that all the pilots signed that is now in Shoreham Aircraft musuem kent not far away from there it has a lovely Tearoom open at the weekend well worth a visit.
