In 1974, my wife and I were on a brief camping, bus trip through small part of the then USSR. It happened to coincide with the 50th anniversary of what we, but not the Soviets call the first world war.. The opinion expressed then, was that if ever Germany was united. Then It would invade Russia for a third time. I note that German tanks and people wearing German uniforms are now fighting on Russian soil.

The Iron Lady, the only British Prime Minister I have ever respected during my lifetime.

As a German who lived through that time and got red pilled 20 years ago, I'm sad to say, I rather agree with that too. What is tragic is that so few people here seem to be aware of this and would feel rather insulted if they were told they have N a z i mentality. Nearly 80 years and nothing has changed.

As far as I am concerned the UK should be divided up and it frankly cannot be trusted with a military.

Not only did Margaret Thatcher have doubts about German reunification, she also believed that NATO should be disbanded, when the cold war ended.

I was living in Montana where Martha Gellhorn wrote to me about what she called a great sense of urgency. To me the pitfall of the wall being broken was America’s low minded response and continued hostility towards Russia, this shocked and offended me very deeply and still does.

When the wall came down, the eastern people fled to the west. The East Germans were the ones who suffered in those decades and I think they deserved to live in a unified Germany. The only reason they were separated in the first place was because of the Cold War binary, they were not separated for any strategic reason beyond that. The suggestion as well that a Nazi mindset exists among the German people in a unified state is a view I hope you’ve changed. The German people are some of the kindest and most intelligent people I’ve ever interacted with, they culturally understand their history in a more honest and scrutinising fashion than we understand ours.

Germany has been at peace and solidly entrenched in NATO and the EU first over 60 years. And still the proverbial scab picking by the Brits. How convenient to bring up the war when ever it suits your needs. While I am quite an admirer of George. He’s still living in 1945 as far as Germany is concerned. He forgets to mention that one of the prerequisites for unification was the Germany be anchored in the EU. Germany abided by this. Renounce me the Oder Niesse border dispute with Poland. Basically bent over backwards to accommodate. It seems the Brits along with many member EU states just cant stomach the fact that Germany is an industrious and hard working nation. Hard work. Something the Brits haven’t had in a long time since they exploited the colonies to attain their wealth and ride on the their backs.

Great story George. I was in Madam Tussauds looking at Thatcher's wax model on day she resigned, at the very moment a member of staff placed a "resigned" notice by her feet. I recently watched an interview with her in Downing Street, journalists right up to her, firing questions, and she answered each one. Very few MPs hold court like that now, you are one of the few GG , no script needed, (no offence intended, putting your name in same sentence as Thatcher).

Initially I thought George meant that she said “I’m rather aggrieved with that” but listening again to my shock she said “I rather agreed with that”.

If George shares such a view with Maggie Thatcher, or vice versa, then he should reflect on whether he has actually analysed correctly or whether he represents a classic imperialist view. After 1945, with the Potsdam Agreement, we Germans had the chance to live in a peaceful and neutral Germany in which the social foundations of fascism would have been eliminated. It was the British, American and French occupying powers that divided Germany and strengthened the pillars of fascism in West Germany. It was not the German people.

Margaret Thatcher was wrong to start the full scale closure of the British coal industry, a policy followed by every government since 1979. When the warming currents of the North Atlantic cease the UK and Western Europe will experience the same temperatures as the same latitudes of North America and Russia. The coldest temperatures were between -40⁰C to -48⁰C. The UK is unprepared for such catastrophic low temperatures that would require the construction and development of the British coal industry. Renewable energy would be pointless, useless and unable to provide enough energy in such low temperatures. The UK has 300 years of coal at 1980s rate of use and coal can provide low cost electricity and natural gas when renewables cannot. The media has reported on the issue that the warming North Atlantic currents have greatly weakened and will stop in the future. The UK has closed its only coal fired power station that is due for demolition in September 2024. Meanwhile the global atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide is at 0.04% and when carbon dioxide levels fall to 0.02% plant photosynthesis stops resulting in human extinction. It's time government climate change policy was changed.

Maggie was kicked out for not being pro EU enough. Her successor surrendered UK sovereignty in signing the Maastricht Treaty without even going to referendum like Labour did (when Labour still meant something) in 1975, of which produced a two thirds majority support for confirming the UK joining the far less integrated European Communities (of which it had already joined under PM Sir P. Ed. O. Heath in 1973). I personally think Churchill had it right when he proposed that Bavaria be partitioned out of Germany. Even the part of southern Bavaria that constitutes the Upper Danube would be a larger nation than Austria. Germany should be further divided between its Rhine-Ems and Elbe-Weser components.
