excelent film, I left leeds twenty five years ago and what a different place it is now so beutiful, i barely recognise it now, i do get very home sick and miss the place very much, brings back so many happy memories.
Sorry for the late reply, only just seen your comment. I understood that there were a few ideas put around for the Tetley Brewery site, but there has been no movement as yet. That side of town seems to be struggling in terms of getting people down there, which is a shame.
Fascinating...Thoroughly enjoyed the walk Thank you !!! Excelllent work..Left Leeds 17 years ago after growing up there. Not sure what all these chic apartments will look like in another 20 years !!!
@rylaneirl Thanks very much. Leeds has certainly improved as a city since I moved here in 1997. I still have to finish the walk via the main city centre and shopping areas.
@waldenhouse Thanks for such positive feedback. I'm just trying to capture lots of places as they are, hopefully in years to come they will prove interesting to people, to see how places have changed, just like I'm sure your brothers films would. Regards, Stu.
@MrJascol Thank you, I haven't finished my 'walk' yet, but will do when nights are lighter again. Need to do Quarry Hill, Town Centre, Corn Exchange, Victoria Quarter and the full Headrow.
Hi Stuartmoss thanks for your reply, You should approach yorkshire tourism board I am sure they would welcom your films and probably make them into promotional films for the Yorkshire tourism, I very much look forward to your future films, Keep up the good work from Tph Blackpool.
Yeah cheers for the upload. I left Leeds 3 years ago and the Granary Wharf area was still under construction. The Sky lounge looks great! There was talk of creating a new park and urban beach before I left, any news? Cheers
In the 60's the Co-op coal boats were towed by tug up the Aire and Calder to Leeds. After a night out enjoying Tetley's Best Bitter one of the boatmen returned on board. From habit he cast off and went below to sleep. Next morning a crowd of people were shouting at him from the bank. His barge had drifted sideways onto the weir.
Great video, I left Leeds in '07 to move to the Midlands and so much has changed there it looks incredible now. That Candle house(?) and the City Inn weren't there when I lived in Leeds.
Hi Stuart - good stuff once again! You know, if you put a decent 'voice over' commentary on this and kept it a few years, I think you could well make yourself a millionaire by selling the films. My Brother (lives in Canada) has got some fantastic video of Yorkshire, and Leeds City taken on his Panasonic M10 Shoulder cam, it had a seperate power pack and Video recorder-about the same size as a video player! People would stand and stare-in the 70's when the only film crews seen were from TV. Rob
It shows the UK cities are becoming identikit in parts. No joking, I thought the Riverside in the thumbnail was Derby (sorry Leeds, I can hear you fuming and jeering right now) but visit the Silkmill there and you'll know what I mean - everything ruined with 'apartment blocks'...
Really a nice city, like the rest of england If I could I will love to live here British citienz should to be proud for their nation, coz you lead's the world :)
lol there are still people in Manchester living in houses with no running water & sink estates so backward they make the poor parts of Leeds look sophisticated lol Manchester?! ugh what a degenerate shit hole
