The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is cut down from the home of Jason Perrin in State College, Pa., November 9, 2017. Perrin donated the 80-year-old, 75-foot-tall, 50 foot wide Norway spruce. The tree is decorated with more than 50,000 lights. The 85th tree lighting ceremony was on Nov. 29 at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a large Christmas tree placed annually in Rockefeller Center, in Midtown Manhattan. The Tree will remain lit beginning November 29th, 2017 and can be viewed until 9pm on January 7, 2018
The tree has been a Midtown fixture for eight decades, with the first official one going on display in 1933. Per press materials, Erik Pauze, the head gardener for Rockefeller Center, has apparently had his eye on this particular Norway sprice-which is estimated to be around 80 years old-for going on seven years; it was finally ready to meet its festive maker this year.
For those who would like to see the spruce on its 30 Rock perch , the Swarovski crystal star was raised & the scaffolding wasremoved on November 22, making the Christmas Tree visible throughout christmas and new year 2018. The annual trumpeting angels have arrived in channel gardens, so you'll be swept into the Christmas spirit before you know it.

And to get a jump on New Year's Eve reservations, the fabulous Rainbow Room is hosting a black-tie bash (including a tasting menu, open bar and live music) at the top of 30 Rock, while Bar SixtyFive next door is throwing a New Year's party with a champagne and caviar bar, DJ sets and dancing to ring in 2018.
