Imagine: Ultramarine standing there and waiting, when Chaosmarine ends his part, just to make epic entrance and start argue with him.

3:41 I realized why this scene is so powerful. The Primaris knew each Guardsmen personally... He knew their jobs, their age, their stories. He knew the Factory Worker, he knew the Farmer, the Storekeeper, the Father, the Brother and the Son... He had spent time talking to them, knowing them... ...And he only arrived in time to save just one of them from the Chaos Marine. This actually shows that his 'Breaking speech' to the Chaos Marine was him making a Mockery of the Chaos Marine, just like the Marine had made a Mockery of the Guardsmen. It's also why he snappishly asked "What's your Excuse, _Monster?"_ at the end. He notably spits out the Word "Monster" like it was the most foulest of Poisons. With the added context, it basically shows he is no longer going to drag out shaming the one that killed _his_ Guardsmen. I mean, the Primaris could have just _Shot_ the Chaos Marine from behind, but because he was likely downright enraged by what he had seen him do to _His_ Guardsmen, the Primaris decided to Torture the Chaos Marine by beating him to within an Inch of his life before finishing him off.

I remember the day in a apoc game where a squad of guardsmen was annihilated except 1, he said fuck it and took a shot at reaver titan.... it went critical and nuked a chunk of the board... The weak sack of flesh went out in a blaze of glory.

I wrote the original text for this on /tg/ back in 2010, maybe 2011. Never thought people with 500x my talent would make an animation for it. These guys should have 10,000,000 views.

Such a grand speech is added considerable weight when you realize it is coming from a Primaris Marine. Who would not even be standing there had the "pitiable" Guardsman not held that line for 10,000 years as he slept.

Being a monster is easy, being a human is not..

I like the idea that a space marine is saying this instead of a guardsman because if a guardsman said it would sound more arrogant than heroic. Also it shows that some space marines, the powerful super soldiers , acknowledge the importance and the sacrifice of the imperial guards who are far "inferior" to them.

When the Ultramarine gets to "...a mere man!" Sends chills.

All this silly comments about what guardsman could do in response to CSM speech are simply pointless. It's not about a contemporary internet user with a whole library of memes and zany jokes. It's about a real and mature man who stands for something and who has done his best he coud, and he's now laying on the ground wounded and paralyzed by the pain. He doesn't have to say or do antything right now. He did his job. His deeds defend him. His Courage and Defiance.

Imagine if the space marine that was defending the guardsmen was a salamander. Amazing video it makes me shed a tear evertime he says (For 10000 years he has held the line)

That was literally THE best speech I've ever heard. For the human race! For the Emperor!

Two things I love about this SFM 1. Tells us to respect the Imperial Guardsmen and the Astra Militarium 2. I like the way the Chaos Space Marine didn’t notice the bolt pistol he picked up didn’t even have a magazine.

Chaos Warrior : you are weak, guardsmen. Guardsmen : maybe, but there are hundreds of lasguns, tens of basilisks and a a few baneblades, firing at you at the same time. Chaos Warrior : oh shit.

The Planet Broke Before the Guard Did

I love how this Chaos scrub is talking crap to the guardsman, but if you look around the guard's position there are more than a couple dead Chaos Marines.

This makes sense because I remember reading that some space marines grow to despise guardsmen for being weaker than them while others (most likely salamanders) grew a greater devotion to humanity and even protected guardsmen

I don't know if a Ultramarine would go on with this heartwarming speech... maybe a salamander would. 🐲

I just LOVE that part at the end. The moment you see the face of that Chaos Marine as he's about to die, he just looks genuinely broken. Like the realization seeped in after the Ultramarine said his piece and he realized that, for all his talk, the Guardsmen he mocked and belittled were stronger than he would ever be.

"They have the audacity not to lay down and die." Humanity irl and 40k and anything else in one line. In fact most of what the Primaris Marine says is true about the grunts of Science fiction. But the warhammer guardsmen are the unnamed soldiers who hold the line against all evils, weather it be the alien, the mutant, or the traitor. The emperor protects!

Made me literally tear up **sniffs** I'm not kidding, when the Ultramarine started his speech, tears somehow fell from my eyes

I love how the chaos marine looks so tiny next to the primaris

the guardsman: "thanks for the help, but could you spare the speech and just finish the freak off??...i've been kept company by corpses for three days and i've got a case of trenchfoot that would make nurgle squirm.."

And THIS is why I think Guardsmen are the most balls-to-the-wall badass soldiers in the Imperium. BECAUSE they're weak. BECAUSE they're poorly equipped and scared shitless. BECAUSE they are fighting enemies who should by all rights wash over them like the sea over a sandcastle. "And he has held the line for ten thousand years!"

Space Marines exollting the virtues of the flimsy human IG's is a wonderful thing to behold, and wish we saw more of it in the official material.

This is why the Imperial Guard can sometimes be the most badass group in 40k since they're basically farmer Joe with an over glorified laser pointer fighting shit strait from hell

After watching this, I now have appreciation for Primaris Marines.

It is funny, that the imperial guard has enough firepower to conquour a sector while a chapter of space Marines have enough to take a subsector. And that ballasiks and baneblades are never too far from a squad of guardmens. Killing guardmens is like kicking a puppy, when its owner finds out there will be hell to pay

Truly the lowly guardsman is the bravest of beings in the gallaxy, for they have no augmentation, no centuries of victories behind them, no giant stature nore gentic mutations nor blessings from unholy gods, their muscles are weak, their reflexes dull, their bodies frail, their minds made of clay easily molded or broken and yet they stand before the never ending tides of enemies who have every bit of that and more with not but the chippest and easiest of guns to produce a sharpened piece of steel for fangs and what ever scraps of iron can be spared for armor to protect them from eldritch backed super weapons and armor, they die in forgotten millions, their names blown away with the dust of their bones, and still they do not move out of the way for to take one step back brings a fate far worse then death uppon their loved ones!

Any who fight for a good cause have my respect. The resolve you humans show, throughout your humam history - never fails to fascinate me. No hulking stature, no super powers, no special abilities, no augmentations, no mutations, No genetic enhancement, no state of the art weaponry, no impenetrable armor... And yet... Humans persevere, holding the line, in a seemingly endless and hopeless war... in a grim dark future... even after tens of thousands of years.

Ive read that the emperor actualy cares about everyone and sheds a single tiny tear whenever a guardsmen or any of his servants die in combat with some big heroes getting full tears and he weeps during great wars his custodes collect these tears

I wonder if Chaos Space Marines do this much roasting in canon? But my god that "reason you suck" speech by that Primaris(?) marine was beautiful.

God, I can't get enough of this video. Ultramarine Primaris---Status: Bitchin' Chaos Space Marine---Status: *Error. Burn beyond Exterminatus parameters* Sole Surviving Guardsman---Status: Inspired to become a Lord General. The Emperor Protects.

Chaos Worshipers fight for their own personal gain. Those of the Imperium that defy them fight for the sake of those beside them and for those that can't.

Absolutely incredible. This made me want to grab some cheap, disposable equipment and run straight at a bunch of demon possessed super-soldiers for emperor and imperium.

I like to think this Ultramarine has had his faith in humanity put to the test for the whole campaign, and finally he hears this Chaos Space Marine giving this speech which encapsulates all he's seen and heard in recent years, and the Ultramarine just has to get his thoughts out - and his rage.

Guardsmen truly are the strongest in the galaxy, even more than the space marine, for even they hide behind thick plates of ceramite. Guardsmen charge into battle knowing they will never prevail in hand-to-hand combat. Yet they still do it, for they are the mightiest warriors, the deadliest warriors... Mere, mortal men.

They fight with no hope, no chance of winning, no proper equipment, no adequate training to combat the enemy of the imperium yet they have the courage necessary to beat an enemy Most badass Kind in Warhammer, The Guardsmen...

To give them the credits, those powerful enemies are the ones that was left plainly because guardsmen took care of the weaker enemies.

God as my witness, I love the Space Marine's speech! "No super soldier, no immortal warrior...a mere man!" What better way to describe a true hero than a mere human facing every challenge that comes their way and not giving up until it is overcome? God bless every hero that ever lived in service to their fellow man, be they soldiers, doctors, policemen, firefighters, paramedics, counselors, parents, teachers, preachers, or those who give what little they can out of the goodness of their own hearts. Mere humans all and yet so much greater for that fact alone. Heroes of the day, legends forever!
