I think for many that have the love and one more watch mentality, a grail can mean many things. For some it's that one piece that you lust after, but can't afford ever (PP Naut Blue in SS comes to mind). For others it could be something that is rare and not so expensive and are in for the hunt. Again different things for many...Fortunately, my grail was the WG Pepsi GMT, I truly thought that it was a piece I could not afford. Then I stubbled upon a naked one, enquired about a trade and got it after trading several with a bunch of my other pieces. If I have another grail, oh no one more piece, it would be a A. Lang and Sohne One Timezone in Rose or a Datagraph Chrono. Great content btw!! Thank you!
Definitely one of my favorite Jaquet Droz models so far. :) Regarding a grail JD it would be the Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon with the MOP dial. Saw it in person, shot it and fell in love :)
Poor AB!, you get to handle all this amazing pieces!. So hard no to want to have them all!!. I love the long seconds hand, bigger than all the small seconds dress watches. I particularly like the Jaquet droz grande seconde in normal dress dial.
Thanks for this video, Youtoube needs JD reviews! :) Actually JD Grande Seconde 39mm is one of my grails and I'm about to get one soon :D PS. Unfortunately you are wrong about the brands history. Swatch Group founded JD about year 2000. It has nothing to do with Jaquet Droz, the watchmaker from XVIII century (also nothing to do with revived Jaguet-Droz from the 60s and 70s). Just the name. No direct link. So the brand is 20 years old right now ;)
Jaquet Droz is amazing and known for the automatons. Their automaton watches are cool and expensive and id buy them over the top 10 most expensive watches in the auction. Their standard watches are extremely underrated though. My least known grail piece are Breguet Tradition and Habring2 but most watch enthusiasts know them
Different for sure. I’m not a big fan of skeletons, but this is definitely luxurious. So many grails out there, but I think anything from Lange qualifies.
4:58 Thomas Prescher, Van Cleef Arpels, Piaget, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Montblanc Minerva, Breguet, Glashutte Original, Vianney Halter, Haldimann, Rudis Sylva, and many more underrated brands
JLC Master Control Chrono Calendar is my grail. I love the idea of this watch but it doesn’t do anything for me. My taste is more traditional . Thanks for another great review!
Wonder what the water resistance on this piece is. When I’m doing the dishes, I’d prefer something that holds up to some chance drops if water. I wouldn’t dive with this, but casual swimming’s probably fine if put on a NATO strap.
