The way the chief talks about family isn't for show - he took the oath, he's one of theirs now. Somewhere down the line, he might find himself in NYC again and know that he can go to any firehouse and they'll jump to help their brother out. He saw firefighters on TV, and when given the chance, the FDNY proved that they were everything he saw and more. Way to live up to a little kids dream, and I expect nothing less of the exceptional men and women of the FDNY, Cormac included.
