As part of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold award, I had to do a residential, spending a week away volunteering somewhere. I've been wanting to volunteer at the TR for years, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to try it out.
Throughout the week I spent there, I had a go at a variety of different jobs.
The week went as follows:
Thursday 25th: Guard training
Friday 26th: Narrow Gauge Railway museum
Saturday 27th: Café at Abergynolwyn
Sunday 28th: Loco department
Monday 29th: Tywyn wharf shop
I brought along my camera, and occasionally used my phone instead if it was more appropriate to use at the time
I would like to stress now, I had full permission from whoever I was with each day to film before I would start recording. I would only ever film anything If I wasn't already doing something, especially if it was safety critical etc. As it was my first time there, they were pretty relaxed about it. I plan on coming back in the future to volunteer properly, in which case I won't film at all.
I would like to thank everyone I met at the railway for such a fantastic week, and for making me feel so at home. I look forward to seeing you some time in the future
