I always enjoy watching/listening to you teach. Honestly, I love watching other teachers teach and wish we could more. I absolutely love those erasable pens! The best! Do you have a video about classroom management and/or the system you use daily?

We can meet with parents at any time. We spread them out. We usually have them come in during our planning period. Our district has 2 conference days set in stone for us. One is in October and one in Feb. We have early dismissal on those 2 days and we can schedule conferences from 1-3 and then 4:30 to 7. We usually knock a few out before then though by asking them to come in during our planning period one day.

I teach 6th grade ELA. We only conference with students who are getting a D or an F. The office schedules a time and all of the student's teachers meet like a panel. We get about 3 minutes to share. It really works out well. We only have 1 conference required per year (Nov). Of course, if parents want to have a conference we can schedule it. The students have that day off.

I love meeting as a panel too! It takes a lot of pressure off. I’m jealous of your schedule though! Once a year is amazing AND having the day without students would be so helpful to prepare! Where do you teach?

I teach 5th in KY. We have initial conferences at the end of the first grading quarter. The students get the day off and teachers have that day to do conferences. With class sizes, sometimes we aren't able to fit everyone in during that day so those conferences are on your own (during planning or before/after school). After that conference, teachers or parents may initiate a conference at any time, but its scheduled whenever you can. I like having the day to conference and get almost everyone in. After that, I am able to mainly communicate via email about any issues.
