What an exciting adventure you guys are on. Florida is awesome, we usually visit once a year from Scandinavia. Moving there is unrealistic but would be great to own property there at some point
I literally subscribed to your channel right away while watching your move-in day video ! Congratulations 🥳 to you and your family on your new Home 🏡 and Florida life. On my winter days 🇨🇦 I will live through you 🌴 ☀️. And let me go ahead and say CONGRATULATIONS on reaching 1000 Subscribers 🎉🎉🎉 🥳🥳🥳
Thank you for watching and subscribing :) Oh I can imagine you get some cold winter days in Canada, were definitely not experiencing anything like that this week in Florida x
Pier 1 imports are good in winter park, I prefer publix and trader joe and whole foods ! Great vlog ! Like the light green scrumptious the best ! Have fun
Considering you are anovice you are not doing too bad. Your videos are really good love watching them especially what you are going to do to your Villa in the future.
Hi just found your channel and wanted to say I’m enjoying your vlogs 😊 well done with the kitchen handles I would never had attempted that, love the dark green paint sample by the way. I will look forward to your next instalment 👋🏻
Loving your VLOGs x We always said we'd move when we retired but that's not going to happen. Just spent 5 weeks there. Wishing you & your family all the luck in the world ❤
@@Katiesfloridalife it really isn't and was a 1 off. We spent 2 weeks travelling across Florida within that 5 weeks. Just amazing as we went across west, down to Keys across east, saw a launch at JFK then up to St Augustine. So blessed it was fab. Already planning to come back. Xxx
I really love your vlogs. My goal is to move back to Florida someday but until then I will live through your journeys. Also where are Zara’s (spelling) eye glasses from? Love them.
@@Katiesfloridalife I’m looking forward to your next vlog! I just found your moving video by accident and I’ve been hooked. Hope you’re having more nice weather this week. x
Dark green. There are outdoor curtains that you can put up like regular indoor curtains. It also will block out the sun from that side. There are also blinds screens you can put. There are so many stores around Orlando that you can find home decor. Home Goods - At Home Stores Kirklands. There’s a vlogger from Orlando that is always shopping.
I’ve seen those curtains, might have a look at some of them as they would be good for privacy. I went to home goods for the first time the other day and I love it. You will have to let me know what the vlogger is called as I love watching shopping vlogs 😍 thanks for watching xx
Congratulations on your you tube channel. Am loving your vlogs, both your everyday life adventures and the theme parks. Either the dark green or the third colour!
Loving the Vlogs very interesting how you bought your house and how you are doing it up looks amazing we come to Florida quite often we are coming next year in September. I don’t know if you realise your sound keeps dropping out on your Vlogs look forward to your vlogs
I’ve had real issues with the sound and music, I’m not using an expensive camera so I’m going to look into something better with a microphone I can wear. Thanks for the feedback and also thank you for watching xx
another great week. I think you did a great job with the kitchen, getting those handles on, I would've messed that right up. Loving the dark green. Gave a shout out in today's vlog for you..there's a lot of people that love these everyday life vlogs. Hope you're having a fantastic weekend.
That’s so kind of you, I watched a couple of your vlogs last night. Those teddies your daughter makes are adorable, does she sell them? My daughter is 13 but she still loves things like that x
Welcome to Florida!!!! Love your vlogs, looking from a different perspective living here!!!! Great job with the kitchen counter door handles!!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Hello Katie, I’m thoroughly enjoying following your journey. Congratulations to you and the family for a successful move! I agree with another comment in that the finishings inside the home vary from both state to state and builder to builder. The price of the home is also a consideration. Homes at a higher price point will naturally offer more. My family and I live in Atlanta, GA and in looking for a vacation home in Orlando- we too, were a little taken aback at just how little you get with some of the homes there. But again, it depends on the price point. My experience has been that Florida builders tend to “skimp” a little more than other builders. Either way, I’m thrilled for your new journey!
It’s interesting to see that even the same builder offers more in other states 🤷🏼♀️ overall I’m happy with what we’ve got and will just have to add little things to make it more homely :-) Thanks so much for watching ❤️
I prefer the lighter green. I would suggest plants they refer . red tips for screening. We had a home at Orange Tree on the US27, and used them to screen the pool. We also successfully grew a banana plant and lemons. Where is the end of your garden lot and are you in Haines City?❤
Oh thanks I’ll look into those plants, it’s overwhelming when you look around a garden center 🤦🏼♀️ I’ve always wanted a lemon tree tho. We are just near Haines city yes. The end of the garden is just past the little tree that they’ve planted. Trying to keep the grass alive at the min as it’s been so dry! X
We are really loving your vlogs Katie, we wait for them coming out every week. It’s really interesting and informative watching your journey. How brave are you?! First time using a drill and you tackle your brand new kitchen! …😅 but you looked like a professional, they look great! I like the dark green too (Or the 3rd one 🤔). BTW …What is a love❤ bug? They sound quite nice, lol. Would it be really bad if they got in to the house?
Thanks Lynn :-) I know I did think after I drilled the first hole omg I hope this is right 😂 can you imagine a random hole in my new kitchen! Love bugs are not nasty or anything they’re just 2 little black bugs together that fly around annoyingly, but they wouldn’t harm in the house no. Thanks for watching again ❤️
Loving this channel! Try Home Goods for your home decor, they have some amazing items in there. Well done on the kitchen cabinet handles, I wouldn’t have even attempted them, but you smashed it! 💪💪🥰
Love the handle so cute. I also love your vlog please do more. 😊💕. I’m looking to get an annual pass holder.. do you mind telling how much you paid for yours
Thanks for watching. I paid a Florida resident price so not sure it would be the same if your not too. The Disney one was around 1k each and the universal was about 700 each per year :-)
Loving the channel, hubby and I want to purchase a property in the next 5 years in Orlando but we won’t permanently move there. Can I ask will Zara go to school there, how does that work for her?
It's a great investment even if you don't live here. Yes Zara will start school when the new school year starts which is beginning of august :) She was sad to leave her old school in Qatar but excited also for her new start. Thanks for watching xx
Great vlog! I would take the dark green too if it's just one wall. Your video of the sweets at Walmart made me almost dizzy 😂 you moved so fast over all the cookies and cakes. The drone show was beautiful. And congrats on the over 1k subscibers now 🎉
😂🤦🏼♀️ sorry I sped it up coz there was a kid screaming in the background. I’ll have to take some better shots of the shopping this week. Thanks for watching x
great job on the handles. If I had a choice I would go a little brigher than the dark green of course it is hard to tell from the computer screen. I am up in PA and we are all about fenced in backyards up here.
Thanks, I’m happy with the handles!! Yeh the dark green looks darker on camera for sure. Oh so the no fence thing isn’t all over in the US, I’ve sort of got used to it already! Thanks for watching x
We know the boundaries from the plan so we just have to cut the grass to that line and then the rest gets looked after by the local council. You can have a fence put ip if you want and get HOA approval but it doesn’t really seem to be a thing here 🤷🏼♀️ strange I know!
"In this country" - No. Unless it is a Federal law or regulation things vary by State, then county & city. And some of the things you are questioning vary by developer/builder. As far as permits, Florida has more permit requirements than even California.
It’s crazy isn’t it, when someone is offering to pay for extras through a builder that would certainly be overcharging and they still say no 🤷🏼♀️ ah well their loss. X
@@Katiesfloridalife That is strange. Not sure of the situation with your purchase and what stage you entered in the build, but usually you can either select a level of included options at least, or mix-and-match options at added expense. Again that varies by builder.
Oh god 🤦🏼♀️ I’d leave the handles for Jason to do. I agree, those doors look like ones which would be on a basic kitchen. Also, looking behind you as you are speaking, the doors don’t look level, so the handles will not be level if you’re just measuring on the doors ! Forgot to ask, will you have anyone behind yours ? As the view is great x
New subscriber =) We moved here 16 years ago too. We were in Hunters Creek but moved near happy trails three years ago. Do I recognize your accent. Im from Middlesbrough/ Redcar area and your accent sounds like home!.
Thanks for watching. Yes I’m from Hartlepool 👏🏼 an nice to hear another northerner lives local, I’m hoping to meet some friends soon 😂 it’s hard when your brand new somewhere!! ❤️
@@Katiesfloridalife The first year is the most difficult with the adjustment and homesickness kicking in, but if both of you are equally committed then you'll soon settle! I grew up in Billingham so even closer to you. Lived in Redcar later. The good part of living here is that family and friends are happy to make the effort to fly over and visit often =)
You can get anything you want in your home, but it depends on the builder. You did a really nice job of putting on your own handles, very professional. Also, do not bring anyone into your home, when you see a phone number on the side of the road. Legitimate decorators do not advertise on the side of the road.
Thank you :-) oh yes I’ve got no intention of having random workmen here, hence me doing the handles by myself, I’ve actually enjoyed the few little DIY bits I’ve done x
I am in Maryland and have never seen a new house come without cupboard handles and towel racks. It must be a Florida thing or your builder. I would have told them I wanted them. That is not normal.
No drawer pulls/handles on any cabinets in California homes. Our home was 12 years old when we bought it and the 2 previous owners never had any installed. We didn’t bother either until we remodeled. Welcome to the US. Scottish expat here, been living in Northern California for 29 years. Pulte build homes in this state as well.
Ah is that the reason? You would never see an oven like this in the UK, that’s probs why I don’t like the look of it. But it works well and that’s the main thing 👏🏼
Another lovely vlog, love the Drone show too!! 🐭 My daughter has just moved to work in the Uk pavilion in Epcot. Check out her vlogs she is Wanderlust Wilce. 😊
I didn’t, unfortunately I had some problems with copyright as this was my first vlog and then RU-vid said they could replace the music but they put it in the wrong places and ruined the vlog. I couldn’t fix it 🤷🏼♀️
