Fern, my white Boxer dog, is an accredited service dog under the 1992 DD act. She holds special access rights to be allowed to enter places most dogs cannot. This includes National Parks such as Chiltern Mt Piolet NP where Reedy Creek is located. Unless your dog is an accredited service animal they are not allowed to enter NP.

Hi Chris, Another good idea for seasoning a new pan is to use just driveway dirt/gravel, any material that has no gold and just dry shake the material in the pan. It does a MUCH better job than sandpaper, the fine sands and dirt really get into the apexes of the pan and riffles, roughs it up great.

I generally put new pans in the lathe and hit it with 100 grit. Have to hand sand the riffles but it works.

I think Dan Hurd said to wash the pan well with detergent to get rid of the stuff they use to stop it sticking to the mold as well. can't be sure, it was a few years ago.

I think it's the mold release that is water repellant. Probably you can also remove it with Ammonia or soap and a scrubbing pad.

Keep looking man. Test everything. Up high, down deep. Stuff that looks wrong. Etc. Its a matter of eliminating where it isn't.

I am thinking that a small hand held sand blaster like the on that I bought from Harbor Freight here in the states for $20 might work better. It works well on small jobs for rust and loose paint.

Nooooo!!!!! Not the sand paper!!!! Just put a handful of sand in the pan and rub it around with your hand! Handful of sand ----> it's in your pan ----> now use your hand You will successfully season all of the nooks and crannies with beautifully random micro scratches.

Think for a moment and use your brain… Metal pans work fine and stay smooth… Miners oiled their pans regularly to keep them from rusting… Perfectly smooth plastic is way more grippy than metal… The first pan you process is going to sand your pan for you. What you are advocating is a total and complete waste of time and energy… No one puts mostly refined material into a brand new plastic pan… So your demonstration is bogus. You may as well be telling people to sand thier brand new car tires before they drive on them for the first time… It’s just stupid.
