What is the "Spirit of Christmas" to me: I come from a family of 12. I'm the eldest child. Because of a clinically diagnosed Paranoid schizophrenic mother, the entire family has gone their separate ways..each of us either completely alone OR in a small private family setting..never reaching out to Re-connect with any blood relatives. I HAVE LEARNED late in life (past 60) that Christmas still comes, no matter the circumstance because it's not about with whether we are surrounded by lights, so-called "friends", hostile "family" or jealous co-workers...it's about the coming into this world, in the flesh, of THE PRINCE of PEACE, to give us hope, to release us from eternal darkness. HE.. is the LIGHT of the WORLD. To this fact, my spirit soars and my shout is HALLELUJAH AMEN!!!!
Favorite foods...my Mother's old family Christmas cookies and my Father's wee drammie of Scotch by the fire. Bless them both for the memories which they gave to me.
My little girl just turned 8 years old on the 15th. She was born premature and only 1lb 10oz. It was the hardest, scariest time of my life. I prayed constantly for a sign that she would be ok. On Christmas Eve, my husband and I were flipping the channels trying to find something to watch and found Judy Garland right in the moment of Meet Me in St Louis when she sings Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. I have adored Judy since I was a little girl. It hit me so hard and I cried, while my husband held me. After the song, I looked out the window and it was snowing for the first time. I overwhelmingly felt peace and just knew she would be ok. Your video about first snows and how you cry at White Christmas reminded me of that. I just think you both are just lovely people. Christmas is about hope and family and nature. The light returning with Solstice and the Christ Child born bringing hope to humanity are both such powerful promises...the light always returns and love prevails. The traditions in family bind us to each other from year to year. I treasure my memories of years past with family who have left this world. And I feel so blessed to share the family traditions with my siblings and my children... the thread of creativity, joy, and love continues. The spirit of Christmas to me is honoring memories and traditions and recipes and decorations that have be handed down from family or passed to us from friends. I take care to keep it going with my children and grandchildren. (Every year I look forward to unpacking the tree ornaments- most especially the bell cut from an egg carton, covered in foil, hung by a red pipe cleaner that my son proudly made in Kindergarten. He’s 41 now! I still hang that creation on my tree every year.) Merry Christmas to both of you!

Christmas to me is helping others and just being kind and then carrying that spirit into the New Year. Oddly enough I am the one who needs real help as I'm about to lose my home and all else but helping others makes me feel better. Love to you both.

The spirit of giving to me is giving. It brings me such joy that I hate to see the last gift opened that I have given. But aside from the joy of gift giving the giving of my time and the special time spent with those I love.
First of all my family and I celebrated St. Lucia day for the first time...in a small town in TX. Ty for inspiring this wonderful tradition. The Spirit of Christmas to me is the warmth you feel from your loved ones present and past. We honor those that are no longer with us by making food that they used to make. Merry Christmas. Please pray for me this Christmas, things are difficult on me at this time. But as I continue to struggle putting groceries in my refrigerator and paying bills. I keep my faith in Jesus. Christmas is the day we celebrate our LORD AND SAVIOR. I have know God will see me through this hard time. Both of my children are autistic, I’m overwhelmed at times. Thankfully I put all my trust in Jesus. I lost my job as a social worker at Forsyth hospital because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition lupus and heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption. I wish I could go back to the hospital but the mandate is still in place for hospitals that participate in Medicare and Medicaid. I’m waitressing and I’m so thankful to be working again, but I’m not making nearly enough to make ends meet. I’m ashamed I can’t buy my children anything this years. I have faith God will provide. WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! Please pray for me and my children.

Did the "God Jul" squirrel ornament come from Sweden? How old is the oldest tombstone in your cemetery? You showed one with lichen on it so I'm thinking that it's a very early cemetery. If you want to go back in time, to a time your parents & grandparents can most likely remember then watch A Christmas Story, made in 1983, (the film takes place in the 40’s & it’s a look back at America & how middle class life was back then especially around the Holidays...don’t know how you guys are holding up in a place with no fireplace in the bitter cold we’ve been having...I’m in the Northeast as well & it’s colder here in some areas than it is in Alaska! Living in Arizona for close to 6 years, I miss the coziness of winter time and the snowfall. I do miss bundling up and walking through the fresh snow. LOL I do not miss driving in the snow 😂. Or the shoveling or scraping the ice off of my car.

Speaking of movies, if you haven't seen..It Happened on 5th Ave...it's a wonderful old B&W. Does Sleepy Hollow have a house tour.? Since the late '90's I've been going to the most charming village near me...St. Micheal's Maryland...the homes are all decorated with fresh greens, most offer some type of treats & drinks, it's a wonderful day out. Noticed Dean Martin on your play list, my mom loved him, I woke up to his Christmas album every yr. For me the spirit of Christmas is remembering my childhood Christmases, and hanging ornaments that came to America with my German ancestors.

My husband introduced me to a movie years ago called the night they saved Christmas and it stars Jacklin smith she was an original Charlie’s angel from the 1970s and I absolutely love it basically it’s set in the North Pole and the scenery is beautiful.I forgot my favorite Christmas movie is the snowman ☃️
Merry Christmas, Seems great to have snow on Christmas. But also super cold! 11 degrees here right now. ' What is the spirit of Christmas to me?" Love and family, home and friends is Christmas. But the Love of our Lord brings love for us all and everlasting life for everyone who wants it. We are all one and we really enjoy just having each other. If we can LOVE and find peace, I think we actually may have it all!? My husband and I have always invited family and friends to dinner and especially if we should know of anyone that really does not have anyone to be with at Holiday time and share maybe a plate of food or have them visit or whatever would work out best. (Many people do not have a family and they are elderly, even more so than we are, and families live too far etc, so they do need some help at Holiday times, as they will be depressed and maybe not have a meal even? Or not want to bother to go to such work?) Even a plate of homemade cookies, and just things like this are even welcomed often. Just need to make sure they are not diabetic and need non sugar treats. This brings in love, sharing and caring, as we never know when we can be on other end of this spectrum of needs either.
