Aside from the blue tint on the left reduction, the blues are less concentrated than they are on the remaster, and the reds have better leveling, too. I know that this is from Eastmancolor materials, but that's probably how it is on the real prints too. Otherwise the colors appear to be fine, and the scenery of these early 40's Merrie Melodies take the cake.
Just as I thought, the cartoon has the new WB shield, and a regular opening and closing. I hope somebody makes more accurate recreated titles for this one.
I believe I heard that the print they restored this cartoon with was damaged so a different cartoon had to be used to recreate the opening. Also, this is the last cartoon with the improper 1940 copyright date (MCMXXXX instead of MCMXL, which the next cartoon would have). And by looking at the Roman Numeral copyright letters, you can actually tell they were about to move the 3 X’s in favor of the L for “Ghost Wanted” since they are moved to the right of the first X.
If you watch the uncompressed official restoration, as its transitions to the title card you can see it transition to another element, the change in the grain structure is apparent
Gotta feel sorry for Elmer in this clip, he meant to be a mighty hunter and yet, the rabbit is getting the better of him and driving him to the point of having a mental break down!
0:04 "COPYRIGHT MCMXXXX BY THE VITAPHONE CORP. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED". Isn't "MCMXXXX" supposed to be "MCMXL" like in the Merrie Melodies intro with the red, orange, and yellow rings?
Despite one of the prints using a alternative Warner Bros logo i actually prefer the 16mm print the colors look darker and more standout compare to the one on the right im not saying that the HD version is bad but it is not as appealing as the 16mm print ❤
