This man doesn't get the recognition he deserves in the UK a very talented Scot and great song writer

A great interview thank you. I heard him interviewed on ABC radio this week and no wonder he’d not wanted to do it- he was constantly interrupted especially if he said anything about anti war. Yet he kept his temper… more than I did! Kudos to Eric👍

Very highly regarded in Ireland as a MASTER song writer ( so much so that we stole all his songs, but recognise his genius.) Thanks Eric for sharing your gift.

Eric should be regarded In the same league as Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie; as well as being Peebles' greatest export!

Just saw Eric, Emma and Pete in NZ, Oct '22... well it isn't time yet Eric and I don't think your fans will ever think so. Always an honour and privilege to hear Eric live.

Eric Bogle came to Colchester Folk Club (I think early 90's) with John Munro. They were on a 'world tour' and arrived in a old Ford Sierra. No airs or graces but Oh boy what a concert ..... serious , funny, totally heart-warming. So proud to have shaken his hand.... I sing a few of his songs too...... thank you for posting

Me,my brother,my mate & my Dad went to see Eric at the Hitchin folk club a few years ago,as my Dad is a MASSIVE fan of Eric Bogle. To be honest,we went along to rib my Dad about his taste in music. How wrong we were. All blown away by Eric and the brilliant John Munro. A moving night of beautiful, heartfelt story telling through music. My Dad got a picture with his musical hero. That picture takes pride of place in my mum and dad’s house. It’s usually us kids who give their parents memories. But seeing my dad meet his musical hero, will be fondly and indelibly etched forever in my brain I doff my metaphorical cap to this lyrical genius.

What an outstanding interview with an outstanding man. Well done Adam for letting Eric talk, you played that beautifully. I don't share Eric's politics so end up with cognitivie dissonance everytime I play or sing his songs - they are compulsive, they manage to talk to your heart and bypass any objection. Deep respect and thanks for Eric taking the trouble to reply to an email I sent just after he'd said he was retiring - after John's demise. I'm so glad he hasn't stopped. I would love to sit and have a beer with this man whose opinions I don't share, but respect immensely. This world seems to have forgotten that a philosophical difference of opinion is just that, 'hate' is not required or even welcomed. It's just a difference of opinion. Thank you Adam and a huge thank you to Eric for sharing who you are with us.

Thank you Brian for your wonderful comment. We love seeing comments like this on our projects- it's wonderful to see people who disagree still respecting differing opinions and appreciating the art they produce.

This man wrote the most poignant, beutiful, honest, poetic anti-war song in existence, and then went and did it all over again. No Man's Land and The Band Played Waltzing Matilda are unparalleled pieces of genius. Eric Bogle needs more recognition - he should be a national hero in Scotland.

I have memories of visiting and staying a couple of days with Eric in his home in Peebles with my parents before he emigrated out to Australia. My mother wanted to record him singing and talking about his song-writing before he left Scotland for good. Not sure what happened to those tapes, but if I know what my Mum was like, she will have donated them to the archives of the School of Scottish Studies in Edinburgh. Everyone remembers Eric's two most famous anti-war songs, "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" and "No Man's Land" (which sometimes gets called "The Green Fields Of France") but my personal favourite of Eric's is "All The Fine Young Men". I play it every time Remembrance Day comes along and it touches the soul every time as only Eric Bogle can. Scotland's loss was most definitely Australia's gain!

Eric, like so many Celts, you're a hopeless romantic. That distinguishes you from the comedians you mentioned. Proud of you as a Celt, and as an Australian. Your songs provoke deep thought and introspection. Thank you for sharing your heart.

Though he may have emigrated, i will always rate Eric among the great Scottish poets and songwriters. The Irish and the Scottish make the best folk music in the world,
