53:25 “One of the things I try and do is really explore the relationship between work and meaning. I think we often assume that work is an important source of meaning and purpose for everyone when actually if you look at the data a lots of people don’t get a sense of identity and purpose from their work. Lots of people don’t think their work makes a meaningful contribution to the world that we live in. And if you look back in history you can see very different relationships between work and meaning.” ~Daniel Susskind, author of “A World Without Work”

There will always be a need for food and fresh water; I believe that we've almost reached the heights of our evolution, next is declining, naturally, my fear is not whether or not there will be enough jobs, but rather " are we going to find enough food and water to go around ", and that's why the next wars ( and they are very close to happen), will be for water.

How will the so-called pink-collar jobs be impacted by technological unemployment? With the increasing degree of automation affecting jobs in machinery & manufacturing, as well as the services industry, could there be an uplift in esteem (and pay) for jobs e.g. in kindergardens, school etc (which require more social skills and are thus harder to automate)?

Technological Progress: Widespread unemployment combined with increasing inequality, will lead to social disorder, political unrest, and even threats to the sovereignty of many nations! Dr. Rajiv Malhotra

I'd like to see a discussion between Susskind (technological unemployment) and David Graeber (bullshit jobs). Unfortunately, this will never happen 😕

If this is the case, why are non-skilled immigration levels as high as they are in the United States and Western Europe? Surely there should be more concern for the replacement of domestic (former) workers?

Technological progress in the past did benefit the 1% , In the present does benefit the 1% and in the future will benefit the 1% !!! The humanity in large would suffer unemployment, inequalities and have & have not!
