The Sänger suborbital idea was still alive in the 1990's - Revell produced a beautiful little kit of the proposed vehicle, with the option of a freight pod or a passenger carrying re-entry glider. It was made to a very small scale, but was still a fairly large model, so the real thing must have been vast. Only thing I wasn't keen on was that it was moulded in black styrene, which always makes details difficult to see. It was released about the same time as the US Navy stealth ship, and Russian Ekranoplan kits. (Both worth having, by the way).
Ah, yes, black plastic can be hard to use, I think the only kit I built in recent years that came in black was the F117 Nighthawk from Revell - but then that is generally black anyway
It's certainly different. A lot of these Luft 46 plane designs never got past the rough sketch stage, but even so, they are interesting as model subjects even if they were never even close to being built for real. Really would like to see this one put together. The extra trucks and trailers really make the kit for me.
supposedly to actually get this thing into space, sanger proposed that it would first be propelled by a special purpose built rail-bound rocket sled, now imagine if there was a kit that included that railway (which would have to be quite long) and rocket sled! also as an aside; the cockpit wouldn't actually be a cockpit, instead there would be a camera in the front and the pilot sitting quite the ways back. they would only have a T.V display as their only means of looking outside. youtubers 'found and explained' and 'scott manley' made some fairly comprehensive videos on the subject!
The round bomb is a plutonium implosion bomb like Fat Man and the long cylindrical bomb is supposed to be a gun type uranium bomb like Little Boy. Even in the alternate universe where this was a real aircraft I’m not sure where Germany would have got plutonium from. I guess it’s also possible that the long cylindrical bomb could be a thermonuclear fusion bomb because it’s so much bigger than the short round bomb. In real life, Little Boy was smaller than Fat Man. But a thermonuclear device uses a fission bomb initiator so these bombs were initially very large.
I read about this bird (a paperkit can be downloaded for free btw), the couple who designed it (yes, it was a couple male/female) were convinced it would work, however a prototype was never build and new calculations show it wouldn't have worked, wich is a shame from an engineering point of view.
This is a very cool concept by the germans during ww2. I love luftwaffe kits especially "concept" prototype aircraft that were never built. Check out Mark feltons videos on these sorts of aircraft if you're interested 👍 Also Matt if you like these concept luftwaffe kits then I recommend checking out the special hobby EMW A9 rocket if you can find one. I've just picked up one on an eBay auction for a bargain. Cool paint scheme and nice decals!

Great review Matt! The small bomb looks like Fat Man, the second of the nuclear bombs the USAAF dropped on Japan. Perhaps one bomb is nuclear and the bigger one conventional explosive?
il manque l'essentiel, la rampe de lancement de la bête avec son pousseur, il n'était pas prévu pour décoller avec ses moteurs fusées.......au fait, toutes les déco proposées par TAKOM sont pures inventions, le projet n'ayant jamais dépassé la planche à dessin, pas plus que les deux bombes présentées dans le kit.
I suppose if you think about it, being a concept aircraft that never got past the drawings stage, the entire kit is an "invention" and lends itself more towards being sci-fi rather than a historical model

Built this. Not a good experience. The decals are horrible, the fuselage pieces have huge gaps, and the landing gear is weak in terms of supporting the model.
@@benmanning4340 it's not offensive, it's silly. we have 100 kit options for everything german, including bad things and things that never happened. why is everyone so obsessed
@@benmanning4340 Well at least I am not naïve to see that my money is not spend correctly when I send it to China. Everything I can buy from other nations than China, Russia, or India. Seems like some people seriously do not see what is happening in the World.
