Just like the year before it, last year went by so quickly. So we took a moment to look back and celebrate some of the highlights our engineering team experienced in 2021. Even we were amazed by all that we’ve accomplished and seen! Does this look like a place you need to be a part of? If so, reach out! We’re hiring!
At Agility, we make robots that are made for work. Our robot Digit works alongside us in spaces designed for people. Digit handles the boring and repetitive tasks that are meant for a machine, which allows companies and their people to focus on the work that requires the human element.

So cool that each month saw a new improvement! How about tweaking the speed at which it can turn around?

I have seen something about jumping being quite effective for high speed on flat land thanks to the elasticity of the legs. At least it works for kangaroos and helps them travel fast without using much energy. Seeing that the legs are pretty similar, it could be something to experiment with. Motors elasticity might neglect the energy saving concept of this method, but well.

This so far is my favourite Robot made yet. Just needs stronger arms and hands and run.

I really love and appreciate the amount of work that Agility puts into showing the technical side of their robots! Really helps educate the public about robots and demystify them. Leading to more people understanding that robots are here to work with people, not against people. :)

nice progress. Very impressive. I just have one question. What is the benefit of backward knees? You might run into some compatibility problems in the future fitting it in the world of humans. How is it going to sit in a car for example? Backwards? :D

Why do they make robots with only 2 legs? Why not 4 legs and 2 arms? It would be much more stable.

Why does it march in place? Doesn’t that just waste energy? A human doesn’t do so.
@banksuvladimir
@banksuvladimir 9 месяцев назад
I think that has something to do with stability. If you watch a lot of videos of cheaper robots than the ones produced by Boston dynamics, like the other dog robots, they seem to keep hopping on their feet the whole time, and I think this is apparently easier to keep the robots stable this way, whereas something like Boston dynamics robots use much more sophisticated (and likely expensive) mechanics and software to stay stable in place without moving their feet
