@@limpetarch98k hop leans more towards informational but he does it in such a subtle way with his words that he's also just a different type of charm to watch like James. Best people on youtube honestly.
Is the mdrx the "no man sky" of the firearms world? Hype killed it, but after time the company kept working on it in silence, until they made something pretty neat.
You never played No Man’s Sky or followed anything in regards to that game or even Hello Games. You can’t even get the games name right. Your dumb ass just watched InternetHistorian’s video. I hate people like you who comment on shit pretending they know something when they don’t. Pussy little bitch.
I have an MDRX in 6.5 creedmoor and it's pretty great. The muzzle break will give you brain damage. I took off the forward ejection chute panel to see how it would eject cases. It throws them further than my G3. It had to have been 50 ft. Would recommend if you got the money.
Oh looks, it’s James “I can’t move my mags past my ginormous pecs” Reeves, or better yet James “my sling is giving my jorts a run for their money” Reeves
My Keltec RDB did the same thing to rounds. I was able to send it back to get it repaired for free. Glad to see that some American companies are still honorable.
IIRC InRange covered the gas block rail portion - it's supposed to be for a micro dot zeroed to a specific barrel so that you can change out the barrel without needing to re zero your optics, just need an extra one for each calibre. Still a lovely piece of kit I'd love to get my paws on. Also *YES!* This man gets it! Rear balance locks the rifle in to your shoulder and (to me at least) feels a hell of a lot more comfortable. Not that I have much range time yet, maybe in a couple of years when I leave for somewhere a little less crowded.
"I am an idiot and it would take less than a quarter of the time." I am a firm believer that when you try to do something for the first time, you find out how to do it wrong.
This has become my primary home defense rifle with exceptional weight balance even with MAWL/weaponlight, H2/magnifier on FAST mounts, and Mantis bipod forend. Way more handy than my AR for most applications, but especially for home defense.
One of the best reviews of any product, let alone firearms, I've ever viewed. Your desire to be thorough is second to none. Thanks for your dedication to excellence, we all benefit from it. Cheers ...
James dropping the high quality entertainment and info as always. Absolutely great review James, well done. You always hit the main things I want to know about a rifle. Accuracy, reliability, suppress-ability any quirks when doing drills etc. And hits the low points too. Thanks!
The quality of this channel is impeccable. I was discussing y’all’s video quality with my cousin and we both agree that the TFB TV channel is hands-down the best Guntube channel when it comes to making it seem like a legitimate TV channel. God bless y’all and what you do for the industry by getting real user info out to possible consumers. Y’all are some of the best.
4:02 As a musician who's tuned several pianos before, I can say for sure that tuning a Steinway is much easier than tuning the mechanisms on a high-tech firearm. Lmao
That fully transferrable lifetime warranty shows a lot. The only reason something like this is offered is if the manufacturer backs what they make. I'm in the market for a bull pup. I think they're awesome. I'll check em' out.
You know you're dealing with an *actual* veteran when it hits 15 minutes into the video and he's saying "I struggled a bit but that's because I'm AN IDIOT" 😂. These guys often take being humble to the extreme. You did good mate, you didn't break anything and it still worked after!
Bought two 20" MDRX Rifles. One in .223 and another in 6.5. The 6.5 would malfunction 3-5 times every 5 mags or so. Sent it to Desert Tech Three times, and it still does what its been doing but 3-5 times every 10 mags or so. The 223/5.56 had similar issues. It has been much better since the 223 rifle was converted by Desert Tech to side ejection. It is much better than the 6.5 but still is not a rifle I feel confident in like i do with 20'' Rifle Length AR's, CZ Bren's, or a Steyr AUG. Which leads me to say this. If you want a Bullpup you can trust, get a AUG. A 40 year track record and now with the ability to use any STANAG AR Magazine, it is the king of Bullpups. I want to trust the Desert Tech like i do my AUG, but it's just not 'there' yet. Hopefully in another year or two Desert Tech can perfect the design or have a Company like LMT, CZ, KAC, or FN buy and perfect the design because it has a ton going for it, it just needs a company with money to work the bugs out. If that were to happen, i could see the MDRX give the AUG a serious challenge for the Bullpup Crown.
I personally have always liked bullpups. So when I set out a year ago to put together my ultimate multi-purpose no-spared-expenses rifle, the MDRX was an obvious contender. And honestly, I like that so few people like this gun as much as I do. That just means it will be something that much more special when I finally get it. Say what you want about DT and the MDR, they make some really neat looking weapons and they really and truly stand by their work.
Outstanding presentation! I got a laugh out of your wind up to explain how DT owned the problem. What a refreshing attitude, right? That's the difference between a small company still driven by passion for its product, and a top-heavy corporate entity whose leadership is primarily concerned with their various reputations and careers far and above the actual product.
I didn't really think having most of the weight to the rear was important till I ran my AR15 with the bolt lock to the rear, it was noticable faster to bring sights up to target with less effort. Super light guns are nice but giving your body more leverage to support the weight also makes sense. P.S. I've shot a X95 left handed and did not eat brass.
Holy fuck balls batman did an Ar guy just show acknowledgement love to a bullpup design and its balance of weight to the rear?!?! The world must be evolving ;-) All jokes aside I admire your intellect, honesty & bravery.
A friend of mine bought one and we were all excited to see it in action. Malfunctioned so much, after every other shot it would have a failure to eject or failure to feed. He sent it back to Desert Tech and when it came back, still the same failures and the charging handle broke after pulling it back. Friend ended up selling it.
The MDRX is pretty much my dream rifle. I'd take it in either 300blk or 6.5 creedmore (or both if the conversion is within a reasonable price range). Although the price is up there for the average Joe like me. There are more expensive AR options and this price point is what higher end AR's usually go for anyway.
The railed section of the receiver is for their red dot mount, so when swapping calibers an red dot can be left with the barrel kit to have a permanent zero after hot swaps.
To fix the problem with rounds and brass not going into the chute properly, simply stone the sharp edges on the pawl and chute. About 2 minutes of lightly removing the sharp edge and it increases function immensely.
It seems like, as of now, the MDRX is a lot more than an AUG if you can find it at all. The AUG could stand to incorporate some of the more common upgrades (trigger, brass deflector), but it seems like they're doing a better job of supplying them.
I hope that Desert Tech does well, continues to innovate and maintains it’s respect that it obviously has for the shooting community and towards firearms excellence.
The 16" .308 is i think the best thing on the rifle Even though i get a red shoulder at the end of the day, the smily i have then is worth it. 11/10 rifle
I don’t know if it applies to CT, but I saw, when James briefly showed the website, that they offer a compliant model, if you’re willing to put up with that. It only explicitly mentions CA and DC, but check up with that and see if it complies with your laws. I know, I’d also rather it be normal.
When you run the forward eject system manually or want too cycle out a round too clear it, rack it hard back and immediately let go of the charging handle, you have too run it rough. Never short stroke it, you'll never have that issue ever again with running the charging handles.
I’ve put about 100 rounds through my mdrx which is nothing but I’ve been having the same problem James had thanks for covering that and having a solution. Loving the gun so far!
@@DeezyP Nah. The reason why UT makes so many guns is because of the Mormons. If I remember correctly, Missouri tried to genocide them in the 1800s and their guns were what saved them.
I love the comedy and the gun reviews are not half bad.. I really treasure these videos being introduced to firearms I never seen before..Great to see individuals not taking themselves so damn serious..Keep up the great work gentlemen
Got my MDR December of 2019 and still loving it, just wish the Micron was forward eject cause that's one of the bigger reasons I got the thing in the first place
I ordered my MDRX back in December. Still waiting for it... Worst part is the dealer I bought it through said "in stock" at first then called me to say it would be 8-12 weeks, and has never contacted me since to say it hasn't come in or would be delayed. Once I finally get my rifle, or sue the store for fraud, I'll never do business with them again for such shitty customer service. I know things have been rough this past year and change, that's still no excuse for basic customer service.
7:35 when you said you’ve already spoken about a topic and won’t repeat it, it sure would be nice if you included a link to the video with those conversations. Why make viewers dig for it? It’s your content. You know it’s directly applicable to the conversation at hand as you referenced it.
Cannot wait for my 308 MDR to show up, been wanting one for years and finally saved enough to treat myself! Shes gonna looks so good next to my Tavor SAR.
You know they gotta take care of the Pewtubers first.... The average guy that pays actual money has to wait, and those free guns they give the pewtubers are paid for by raising the price for the regular Joe.
I think it's because they got some contract halfway across the world so they're trying to fulfill that at the same time with reduced worker cap cause of rona
Same brother, nothing but repeated emails about a some new delay. I’m starting to get real scared that mine will be a lemon and it’s going to take them another 5 months just to Warranty it
@@andrewryan1946 Right? first ship date was Oct. 21st. Week after the 21st I emailed them. They said 12-16 weeks from order. week 18 comes by I email again, 20-25weeks from order now. Week 26 comes I send another email, now its an extra 3-5 weeks 😑.
@@dans5534 That most recent update of ‘3-5 weeks more’ was soul crushing. They’ve got to have a bunch of big contracts they prioritize, there’s no way they’ve got so many individual orders that it should take ~8 months for a single rifle to ship to someone who payed up front
