A14 Huntingdon - Cambridge Full Scheme Now Open 

London M11 - A14 - M6 - A74(M) - M74 Glasgow This makes up this combined the longest non-stop stretch of road in the UK

Presumably the greyed out strips on the signs at J24B are for Huntingdon, pending the viaduct-related work completing.

It's great to have a high standard A-road like this, it's impressive!

What I find funny is you have the A14 as a three-lane dual carriageway as soon as you get onto the M11 it only has two Lanes and it's supposed to be a motorway

FYI, they were running variable speed limit tests last weekend. Looks like it's got the go-ahead for an A-road to have variable speed limits, which is very interesting indeed

The Bad thing about the A14 upgrade is that it's pretty much a smart motorway, just not a motorway, that means more speed cameras and lying gantry notices

Finally! :) Only 20+ years after it was needed, but yay! I avoided going north while they were building this. Maybe one day I'll get to drive the upgraded A14. The M11 needs an extra lane now guys. Maybe start saving pennies for 2040? Be even better if they reinstate a direct railway from Cambridge to MainLine at Huntingdon. Reduce journey times to Scotland :)

I went on it a few days ago. It is far better than the congested old road through Huntingdon.

There are still overnight and weekend road closures between Cambridge and Swavesey, so it's really NOT finished yet. It will be finished when there are no more closures and when the thousands of cones are taken away.

The new A14 avoiding Huntingdon looks amazing. Even though it’s not motorway standard but has made the A14 in Cambridgeshire a lot better than before. Perhaps the A47 could do with this in Norfolk and to replace the dangerous cross-section junctions with segregated junctions with slip roads and sections of the single carriageway to become a fully functioning A47 dual carriageway from Great Yarmouth to Acle, Acle to Postwick. Costessey to Swaffham, East Dereham and King’s Lynn. King’s Lynn to Wisbech and Peterborough. And Peterborough to Wansford and Leicester passing through the small county of Rutland.

It’s a shame that this is not a motorway

It opened very early it was meant to open December

So have they finished the work between the A10/A14 and the A14/M11 work yet?

I remember travelling down when they were doing it when i travelled to Cambridge

I remember the good (!) old days of those route being the A45 & A604.

lol going south down the A1 to the m11 everyone's on the new a14 , use the old one until boxworth , still dual and nearly empty !
