LOOL! You are amazing I swear beside that all your videos make a lot of sense, you have an absolute amazing sense of humor. Thanks for sharing such good advise
This video and the channel in general are super helpful. A real treasure for all applicants! Could you tell me, please, if you plan to make a video about analysing the applications of international students? I think this topic is not well covered on RU-vid and many students would be very interested to see the process from the inside. If you have already made such a video and I missed it, I would be very grateful for the link! Wish the best selection 2022-2023!)
I’m starting to prepare my personal statement and optional essays. I have gone through some incredible hardship throughout my high school and undergrad career. I’m worried that my essays are going to come off as though I’m looking for sympathy. Do you have any advice on how to navigate this?
No idea if this is helpful, but I’ve read that it’s useful to focus these essays on how what you’ve experienced has influenced your growth/development as a person. You can and should obviously explain what happened but the focus should be less on the events themselves and more on what transpired in the days, months, years etc. afterward. We all have experiences in our lives that shape us into who we are and hardships are no exception. By writing your essays with this focus in mind you can show the committee that you have a unique perspective informed by experiences that most people do not have to face
