I would suspect there is 3 or 4 Pumps in the sump, setup would probably allow 2 or 3 to run at once, and a backup. Level sensors would detect the height of the water in the sump, when it gets to a certain point, one pump would kick in, if the water rises past the next set point, a second pump would start, and so on. If they can get the water down, as a temporary measure the pumps could be connected to Portable generators at the top, to allow them to be run when needed, whilst permanent repairs are carried out, otherwise, we'll be very quickly back to this position again!

now the slip roads are clear they should let traffic on/off and over, even if it is a single lane in each direction.

The fire brigade have High volume pumping units as part of national resilience. Each pod capable of shifting upto 7000ltrs a minute i think. The pods and associated hose can move water distances of over a mile and can be used in combination and left to operate unattended. Just wonder why they were not deployed if not to provide a good (non emergency) training scenario.

Took me 1hr 30 mins from Goldington Rd to Kingston along the old 421...twice along as usual.

That pump needs relocating to higher ground and upgrading to a larger unit to cope. This is not the first time this has happened, you think they would have learned by now !!

that pump would take weeks to move that volume of water. you can tell from where they put the pump they never expected that amount. the only solution is to raise the road level and raise the bridge.

You can’t put the sump or pump at the top of the hill in the same way you don’t put your bath plug hole at the top of the bath. It has to be at the lowest point.

Went down there a week before the big storm and lane 1 was flooded in just a normal rain shower. I don't think the pumps were working

Very silly putting the electrical switch gear so close in elevation to the pump... Did no one plan for a 'one in 100yr flood' or anything like that If the electronics were placed higher that pump could have kept running far longer

3:53 Why would you need to look below yourself with the camera to see how high you were? You always keep your drone in line of slight to keep the flight legal. Right? If you are flying with a screen or goggles then you need a second person as a spotter. AMC1 Article 2(7) see ‘Definition of visual line of sight operation’
