Brilliant video! I love that your review, unlike almost everybody else's that I've watched, came from the perspective of an original A7C user who knows that camera inside and out... So much so, that the differences were glaringly notable! I can see how that would be frustrating. Also, I agree with your advice: before you start using it, get all your customizations done. It took me awhile, but it's essential! Great video, and a lot of food for thought here!
Your words give me insipration to keep creating - plus using the a7c and a7cii are so much fun - technology fuels creativity and creativity fuels technology and both keep us making content - thx again for watching!!!!!!!
Thanks for the great video! Your down-to-earth presentation and assessment is refreshing. My a7Cii is allegedly arriving today via FedEx. This will be my first Sony camera. And, since most of your quibbles had to do with the changes from a camera I've never owned / seen / touched / used, I'm looking forward to a great experience. For me, I plan for it to be my primary street photography camera (with the Sony FE 40mm f/2.5).
You are going to love it! It does take some time to setup but this will come with experience. How do you like the Sony FE40? I have tried the 50mm but not the 40.
I really like the change of the ev dial. With the old one it was only usable for ev but now it can also change iso or other values. Since i adjust ev by looking at the liveview i dont have an issue with having no numbers printed
All this new technology..All these photos..Who wants to see them ?I’ve already got around 20,000 photos that nobody looks at .I guess it’s time to buy another camera.
Imagine shooting that landscape photo with the elk with the A7CR. Those 61mega pixels would be twice as sharp. That's my route, skipping the CII for the CR. I love me some pixels. My A7R3 got me hooked.
I rented this camera last week. I think I may have had the same camera you had. I don’t have the A7C or any Sony for that matter. So, the things that bothered you, didn’t me. The one thing that did was the view finder. As and eyeglass wearer the view finder was a little cramped. But, after a day of shooting it wasn’t a problem. I really liked the output of the sensor and the autofocus and tracking was insane. Thanks for the review.
yeah - as someone who just started wearing "cheaters" - I wish it wasn't so "cramped" as well. So cool that we may have had the same camera - its a small world. Thx for the great comment!
I’ve tried the a7c and a7cii at B&H and waiting for 7cii to arrive from lens rentals tomorrow. Let me tell you. A7c view finder was horrible. When you use that the 7cii feels like fresh air. I use a7iii as my camera and I didn’t find much difference with cii but the A7c I couldn’t even take one pic. Had to look all around for my settings
@@SenthilRameshJV Cool you went to B&H - I would love to go there one day - Double cool you rented the a7cii - yeah I liked the viewfinder on the a7cii so much better (I'm a viewfinder kinda guy) What lens will you use on the a7cii? thx for the comment!
Hi , nice review 👍 I believe you can load your LUTs into the A7C II so that you can pp with S Log 3 and see your exposure in advance. I have Tamron 24-70mm 1:2.8 AF SP Di VC USD for Canon with 7Artisian adapter and can’t wait to go outside and take some photos with it. Btw autofocus works normally with this adapter. Didn’t really go deep in testing as I got the camera 2 days ago.
Hi @OliverWiehe, I really enjoyed your video. I noticed you mentioned you used the Tamron 28-75 2.8 did you notice any issues with autofocus? I watched another video where they showed the A7CII having serious issues with autofocus on 3rd party lenses.
I think you’ve got a lot of good points. A big discrepancy is the expectation to have the EV dial numbered: the beauty here is they you get “3 dials”, for whatever you want: EV, aperture, shutter, ISO, subject autodetection, whatever you want! Your complaint would be similar as asking the front dial to have aperture numbers labeled. Here I think you are not considering the versatility. Again, nice video.
I do. I purchased it two weeks ago taking a radical decision to change company after 15 years of shooting Canon. It is weird that they have “only” two C buttons, but you can really assign almost any function even to pre-named buttons. You can have the AF-On button become a ISO changing one. In that sense, the 4 dials can be configured to change almost any setting. It is a very interesting concept, but it means you need to “remember” what you assigned in order to develop that muscle memory that I don’t yet have on this new body.

Yo quiero la a7cii pero creo que solo reuniré lo suficiente para la versión i
I also have a Nikon F2A, bought at Yokota AB, Japan, exchange in 1979. Best camera. Done with film as there is no Kodachrome. Now I have the a6700, also an incredible camera. Yes, we all have to learn the new menu, but that's life. After dealing with Windows since the beginning, I'm used to menu items hidden in new places.
I like the design of the A7CII/A7CR (in black on black!) with the EVF in the corner very much, but the EVF is too small with too low resolution, there is no joystick and the flip-out screen makes the camera too thick.
to show how to place a b-roll above a story to make the video more interesting. Also, I gave you guys a "shout out"! Plus to lead by example in creating a video.
I don't like Sony cameras for one reason. It's the actual menus and the way the cameras look on top it's why I use Fuji Fuji make cameras for photographers Sony make cameras for I don't know who photographers yes, but they don't think of photographers
@@OliverWiehe Thanks for guidance, I realized that I can live without extra AI chip but on day today use I will have more versatility and better control over camera with good grip, more functional buttons, Better EVF and joy stick with A7IV. I cancelled A7Cii order and re ordered A7IV.
