we only get the chance to make a few projects like this in our lives, a fact that is daunting in of itself, so most people never do anything like this. and the fact you share this project with everyone the way you do... its a blessing to everyone who ses this series

A few projects? 8 to be exact, if they all take 7 years like this one. Ha! Thanks for following the build.

So refreshing to see how this vacuum infusion process is not as simple as it more often than not made out to be from other channels!
@BuilderCreator

Yep! Sometimes an unseen condition causes a failure. Second time usually corrects the woes! "Hind sight is 20/20?"

When your resin stalls during infusions, dont panick. In your case, the resin was too low and your resin flow was battling gravity. Lift the resin bucket higher and resin will start flowing again. Also try to minimise distance between resin injection ports to around 500mm spacing. Lastly, if you have lockout or dry areas, use a large syringe with needle and inject resin into that area. Remember to block the puncture point with some tacky tape when pulling the needle out or you will end up drawing air into the infusion. P.S. always do a drop test before any infusion. Love your progress.

As a RU-vid armchair maker who has never done anything on RU-vid (ha ha)... Easy Composites Ltd might suggest you might need a resin break near the vacuum ports to slow down the resin as it gets to them giving much more time for the resin to spread through the rest of the part. Also infusing across the short side as others have suggested. Possibly putting the spiral tube on the delivery side and quite a few vacuum ports on the other side that you can clamp off if the resin gets to them first. I really like watching people do fibreglass and carbon fibre for some reason and your show is top notch!
@BuilderCreator

Thanks for watching, I'm glad you like the videos. I'm pretty sure the next infusion (passenger seat) will be successful if I add a flow channel down the center to feed the area starved. Not only is the chopped carbon resistant to flow, but the greatest vacuum pressure is on that flat area.

@@BuilderCreator Hi Jarvie. Have a lot of fun as always watching your build. I have had so much fun, getting out and to car shows. Last month, interviewed Larry Hutchinson, the President of Toyota Canada. And had a WOW week end interviewing Simon Pagenaud, Scott Dixon, legend Al Unser Jr. and a number of other amazing people at the Toronto Honda Indy. But just this past week end at Shannonville Motorsport Park, interviewed Guys with vintage race cars from VARAC and the Sunday was a track day with Jspec. That was amazing to see all these tuner guys race their street cars on a track. Something inspiring you said that I'll never forget. Is to start doing it and don't wait. I'm learning all the time about how to build my car. Got some great idea's from Champion NASCAR Pinty series race car builder on adjustable roll centers. I'm applying that to my car. This is what happens when a kid gets a tool box instead of a video game for his 11'th birthday lol. Thank you as always for your posts. 😊

Next time whenever you try to do an infusion project add some spiral cable pipe on the top of the mesh, right from the infusion pipe. That will help the resin to spread alit easier and therefore infuse the part perfectly and alot quicker without the risk for exothermic reaction

Always infuse along the shortest path, in you case from one side of the mold to the other rather than from top to bottom. Even better, from a circumference feeder line to the vacuum at the center, that would divide the distance the resin has to travel by half. Did you use infusion spec. epoxy ?
@BuilderCreator
@BuilderCreator 2 года назад
True, the shortest distance is recommended, but a vacuum fitting in the center, on top of the laminate, will distort the fibers in that area. A flow channel medium will fix the problem and pull off with the peel ply, leaving a smooth surface front and back. Infusion epoxy- yes, but I should have cranked up the AC to stretch out my work time as well . . . "all the things we could have!" Ha! Next time!

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!

Why do these people who make their own cars at home not make the job easy? Instead of making all that trouble with that seat I would have bought myself a gaming desk chair, those chairs are very similar to sports car seats, they come ready, they look the same as a sports car seat, and I assure you that it is much cheaper and takes less time than even making a chair at home, what does it matter if it is not an original original chair? a homemade car is not original from the factory either hehehe, so what would be the problem of working less and doing things more efficiently :D

I am always amazed at the amount of time and money people spend on component cars only to find out that when they are finished the cars may not be all that great. I am duly impressed with this mans engineering prowess but come on already, please finish this project and let us see if all that time and effort was worth it.

Do you ever cover your leftover food with plastic wrap; day after day for years, always throwing it away? Think of all that plastic wrap wasted. Seats are a one time deal and last forever (Okay, maybe only 30 years, unless it retains some value.) for only 6 square feet of plastic wrap. ;)
