You guys are awesome lmfao the jeans, the hand signal, that one player that always isn’t paying attention lol but also that’s a great position to show young kids learning a break-out play. Get it to the center! Haha keep it up boys
“Yeah no, we’re skating” this sentence triggered a thousand memories of burning lungs, my teammates all hunched over, and my coach screaming “DO YOU GUYS ACTUALLY WANT TO BE HERE!?”
In my triple A time when the dmens got lazy or forward didnt back check coach would make us do suicide to the point that lazy players were shunned by the others , i was a goalie btw and i still had to participate in suicides.
Probably don't let anyone on the ice without one these days - which remiinds me of the one 4:30am practice we had where coaches forehead took a high lobber at center ice for a few stiches.
My coach taught the wingers to either swing low enough to just pick the puck up or catch it with the foot that was closer to the point and kick it to our stick
Pretty sure my name is still up on one of those OMHA championship banners at Joshua Creek (or at the time Twin Rinks) needless to say your content is relatable 😂
Teaching new players at any age how to break out properly is really hard. I teach some adults and they finally got it down. One thing they don’t teach is how to shoot it up off the side glass and out of the zone.
My buddy got an assistant coaching job at a pretty well known school. The head coach was a former pro. The night they played their rivals, the head coach full on dressed up and did warmies with the boys, just to get them motivated. The head coach came over to my buddies team bench and even asked him, "Smitty, is that your fucking head coach doing warmies with the boys? Holy shit Smitty he's committed eh?"
