A song about an underage girl singing to her older lover that she is more mature than her age would let on being sung on a kids TV show. The 90s were wild.
She was only doing what she was told. She was obviously extremely young and did what the adults told her to. He wrote a song about her and made it her song because she was crushing on him..
Aaliyah was one of the best and will NEVER EVER be forgotten. Her vocals on this performance was so mature for a 15 year old girl. You can tell she was a Sanger not just a singer.
Aaliyah was 14 when she recorded this song, at the start she says May 5th 1993, Aaliyah's Diary...and here she is grinding slowly on Nick TV... it's so mental how as kids we didn't even see it...yet she certainly had many many adults around her.
Cassidy Banks they really were tho😂😂 then when she said "so what's up" the dudes went crazy when she said "come here, age ain't nothing but a number" dude with the white shirt was pointing to hisself fanning hisself😂😂😂
Plenty of freedom, It was a wonderful time,no camera's & technology watching your every move.No PC or cancel culture. You said what you wanted and no one cared..
These kids were so lucky to have seen her live. I'm glad I grew up during this era. The generation today just doesn't have music/performances/artists like this anymore. I love watching Aaliyah's live performances. RIP to an angel. We miss you.
I was a kid back in 94’ singing this song 😫Awkward!!! A 15 year old Aaliyah Singing about a young girl sexing a grown man on a family/kids network, song written by one and the only pied Piper his self R Kelly.... Subliminal messages RIGHT IN OUR FACES !!!! 😫😫😫 #survivingrkelly Super disturbing
Ppl criticize her Live vocals she chose to sing low live and in my opinion it’s good cuz you can still hear her runs in her lower deeper tone she sung if she chose to as well she was great man
Wow I was 13 during this video and Aaliyah was the hot new young R&B Princess. What a time to be a teen! I miss the 90s ❤ 2:30 explains how us fans rocked with Aaliyah right there. 😂
She's on a Dan "Get her in the van" Schneider show performing a song written by the pissy pied Piper about a child being attracted to an adult. They were really playing in our freaking faces back then smh
@@alexisfeliciano4994 it's exactly for that reason Alexis I said what I said...and you know what's sad Alexis is that though justice has been served it took over two decades to happen and she lost her life before she could see it come for her and many others
Ps ... Smh how the music business protected Him for as long as they did where as they could have acted on it long time ago already irrespective of his fame and status / & influence he wielded....I see that they protecting puffy combs in the same / similarly way he was protected untill the surviving rkelly doc came out
thank you im a guy and i used to love Aaliyah and All That and i remember this and i been looking for this for years havnt seen this since i was like 8 THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! R.I.P Aaliyah
OMG. I remember watching this when it first aired! Back when things were simple. I cant believe it'll be 10 yrs since her death this August. Always will love Aaliyah's music no matter how old it is...
Ok first, let us forget that R. Kelly ever happened for a second. This is actually a teen-song that makes perfect sense. There are many ways the lyrics could be interpreted. If you listen to the album version of the song, it establishes that the girl is writing on a diary (which many teenage girls actually did back in the 90s). Meaning, everything she is narrating in the song is a mere fantasy of hers. It could be that she is a high school freshman who has a big crush on a senior. It is not really clear how huge the age gap is. Or it could be that her crush is her math teacher. And he fantasizes about him through his diary. Sure some of the lyrics could be a little sexual but sexual awakenings happen during those years. So in either case, if you think about it objectively, is it uncommon for teenage girls to have crush and fantasize on older men? In fact some of you reading this may have fond memories of similar experiences that you laugh about it now. But indeed it is unfortunate we would learn about the true dark meaning behind this song
That first album is the best album of hers and one of the best albums of all time without question. God bless Aaliyah’s soul and I pray for R. Kelly everyday and I hope he is freed soon.
I used to watch All That when I was a kid. I don't remember this performance but dang, I'm surprised they let her sing such a naughty song on a kid network.
Us 90's kids were young adults. We are in no way a reflection of today's youth! We had common sense to understand mature music for exactly what it was. No one had reasons to be concerned about lyrical content on kids shows back then. It's this new generation of kids that are inadequate to our maturity level of yesterday. Which makes songs like this seem alarming from a viewing point of today's society.
