Unfortunately some uneducated people think that range equals a superior singer. Someone can have power, but not range. Others can have melisma (vocal runs) without power. Some can just have a golden tone. Then there are some people who have it all. Although it’s a matter of opinion, others who can’t discern the differences will automatically jump to the belief that belting and intonation are the most important factors to a singer’s voice. That is unfortunate because Aaliyah was literally one in a million and had it all. We don’t know what kind of success or progress she would have had, but I’m sure we can all see she had the vocal chops and major potential…
@@theomays1382 yes, and when I said to crowd, it looks unsympatic, when they recording everything around, they attacked me on one video with johny depp. It looks so unsympatic when half of people pull out smartphones and recording everything. I dont like this age.
But people don’t even acknowledge the evolution in such a short time. Check the old interviews with Missy and Tim. For example Missy wrote I care for you in 95/96 and Aaliyah had been recorded it. They then re recorded that record for the A album. Which was also originally supposed to come out on late 98/99 . However they chose to wait and capitalize off of Romeo must die and what she was doing acting wise, as it was helping grow her fan base. But again she really chose to evolve her sound and with Static major coming in the picture they started to create more of what she wanted, and people still think Timbaland was behind that whole album when he only did like 3 songs, the rest was her static , Missy etc . Even the praise from the critics was that she finally evolved her sound into womanhood with the last album and the experiment was paying off.
Aaliyah had a beautiful tone with a lot of potential. If she kept at it she would’ve gotten better and better. It happens with a lot of singers just starting out. She was still a young girl, she didn’t have enough time :(
Yessss. Life didn't give her a chance to show us how amazing her vocals could've gotten (they were already good but yk what i mean lol). I hate that she died b4 she got a chance to perfect her craft man.
She holding back vocals. You can hear it in her voice. I think it’s the setting of the show. She knows how to make her voice calm on certain stage settings. Compared to her performance from The Oscars, when her voice was way more powerful on that setting.
@blooop I think they mean that since Aaliyah was gonna start working with Whitney on Sparkle before she passed, Whitney would've brought her out of her shell. So what they mean is "Knowing she was going to work with Whitney, she would've blew."
Navanod27 I believe she and Beyoncé would’ve been dominating the industry together they’re totally different types of R&B/Pop, she’d be the beloved Princess of R&B 🥺
That's what were supposed to do, uplift each other "I hope you're album goes triple platinum" then she gives Aaliyah a hug. Aaliyah was a jewel taken soon. This clip makes me feel good inside and shows us that there are and were great people in the world.
So sad when the interviewer asked her about her future with Aaliyah having children around the Christmas tree singing. Not knowing...she'll never have that.
@@simple.1829 You are loud and WRONG. And maybe even deaf, as you can see from this video Aaliyah had a wide range, and great control of her voice + perfect falsetto and effortless chest to head voice transition. Just because she sang a certain way (softer and more chill, because it was her style) doesn't mean she couldn't sing, or "she didn't have a voice" like you say, because she DID. SHE COULD SANG. So pls do your research next time.
Wow!!! She sounds just as good as the record. It seldom you see singer's who sound just like their records. What a beautiful soul and a beautiful voice. RIP PRINCESS. You are surely missed 😢 😔 💔 ❤ 😌 😞 😢
Looking at this makes me appreciate (EVEN MORE) growing up during her time in the spotlight. I was the (self proclaimed) biggest Aaliyah fan in history. I’m so glad I got to be around and witness her career. ❤️❤️❤️
Awww adorable she was beautiful and was Taken away from us way to soon at just 22 years old God only knows why her & 8 other beautiful souls had to leave us .
I literally go back to this video just to hear 4:45 So angelic, every time I just cannot fathom how soft and soothing like a warm hug that part is. Amazing every time
OMG!!! I don’t know why I’m just discovering this (20 years after her transition), but she did an AMAZING job in this performance! I am in love with her all over again, and EVEN MORE. ❤️ #WeMissYouBabyGirl
.....she sounded so precious and effortless in this performance..and the PRETTY GIRL SWAG was just so her....nobody rocked the baggy urban look better than her...
It's so hard to watch the host ask her about traditions Aaliyah will do with her family when she has children when I/we know she never made it that far to have a family of her own :'(
On each one of her albums she would give her fans a song that showcased her vocal range. I think it was part of the industry keeping her mysterious as she wanted to be. Beginning with star search, although she didn’t win, but at 10 years old, the poise and voice comtrol. "Age ain't nothing but a number" she gave us street thing, on "One in A Million" she gave us this song, On "AALIYAH " she gave us "I refuse". All along she was telling y'all, stop saying I can't sing, cause I can! 😂
And this is why Aaliyah would've still be ahead of Beyonce had she not died. Beyonce/DC was still submitting demo videos for labels while Aaliyah was already doing this. So yeah. Aaliyah is too much a veteran and queen, especially in spirit.
Why am I crying..this randomy popped up on my RU-vid ..IM A 90S BABY IM OVER HERE GUSHINH TEARS STILL LIKE THIS WOMAN DIED YESTERDAY...OHHH HOW I MISS AAYLIAH 💔
Thank you for sharing it brings back such great memories of the late 90's rip baby girl. If you have anymore BET footage especially from the late 90s please post if you can.
In her hair magazine coverage part she says she adds pieces of hair in for a certain look like a sew in or something ... but most of it is her hair only the back has sew in .
@@Recardo4306 yes but this is her real hair here .... and why people always discussing black woman or rather if their hair real or fake y’all don’t do that with white woman or any other race woman .....
@@beatlemay1332 Have anyone or you tried "Aaliyah's Marshmallow Yams"? I didn't know Aaliyah could thrown-down in the kitchen. It sounds pretty good but I never tried it yet.
I really love this song, it's definitely one of my top favorites of Aaliyah's, this my first time seeing Her doing live in person, Her talking about kids of Her own brings tears to my eyes😢 singing with her Mother for Christmas, I want to wish Baby Girl Aaliyah Happy Birthday 🎉 today would have been Her 45th B-DAY, January 16, 2024, I cherish U and truly appreciate Miss U so much Aaliyah with much 💞
Aaliyah she can sing I remember went I first I meet her back in the mid 90's back in 1996 she was my favorite, I used to crazy about her, my whole family gave me surprised birthday party back in "97'' I was 12 years old December 9th my sister say Vanessa I got your birthday present Aaliyah came surprised me she was performed she sing and I was crying Aaliyah she came surprised me I never forget in 1997 she sing Happy birthday to me.
Wish she was still here with us today she was a down to earth person 😇🙏 but she will always be with us through her music and she will always be remember and her legacy will live on forever ♥️
Awee this makes me sad she was so beautiful I actually think she's one of the prettiest r&b singers in history! I remember as a teenager my whole room was decorated with Aaliyah posters ❤ I love her voice I love her vibe she wasn't stuck up not one bit just a sweet girl
How can I miss someone whom I never met? She was taken too soon from us. She just seems like the sweetest person and beautiful as ever. Man why she get on that plane 😢.
I miss her everyday. Specially since its her 20 anniversary of her passing. Makes me depressed again that Aaliyah has been gone already 20 years. It seems like yesterday the news of her death. I will never get over her death. Such a great lost to the world. And the new report of how Aaliyah's was drugged was just heartbreaking. The taxi driver the took Aaliyah to the airport said Aaliyah's team gave her a sleeping pill because she a had a headache and wasn't feeling well and was nervous to get on that plane. They carried Aaliyah unconscious into the plane. One minute after take off the aircraft crashed because of being overweight. Aaliyah was ejected 20 feet away from the plane and still strapped to her seat hinged on her left side. She suffered a fatal blow to her head and sever burns to her body. Plus she was scared to fly on that airplane when she saw it. She even told her bother. I di believe she knew she was going to die because she had a dream, in her favorite dream was dark that someone was following her and before they can reach her she flew away into the sky. She had this dream weeks before her plane crash. ♥️😱😥
"Aliyah could not sing" is what brought me here. That's true she couldn't sing.............................................. She could blow. Her voice is beautiful, angelic. Her speaking voice even better
