Listen carefully to the "kaa" in "shabab aap kaa" in the first occurrence (I noticed it when listening on good quality earphones). The rendering of this one word captures the emotions of the actor and the moment.

Yaman...once again....I think this raag has been explored by all music directors and this is another great use of the raag...But only a Rafi can give life to that raag the way we see it rendered in this song...Every singer of today must carefully listen to every word in this song and how Rafi gives expression to it...Of course, his voice was such a gift of God that it could support any expression that he imagined to give...The only regret I have is that actors like Dharmendra did very little justice to the great rendering that Rafi did behind the mike...In fact, Rafi always did more than 50 per cent of the acting himself in all his songs and the actors only had to do the remaining 50 percent...but many of them did not do that...Just listen to some of the portions of the song and the way Rafi has sung and see the expression on Dharmendra's face...Very little justice there...May be this is another reflection of Rafi's greatness that actors found it difficult to act to his great singing....

a super quality of rafi saab's voice is that expressions are in there in its fullest form,,, rafi sahib's ability to modulate his voice as per the type of song , as per the situation of song nd also as per the actor was very much unique....in his song the actor basically has not to do much work, even if he is just standing and lipsing at the song, the acting is done by the voice itself......This realization doesnt comes instaneously, u hav to be music lover in true sense from ur soul.......

I love hearing him sing slow with the barest of musical accompaniment . How lucky for us that the musicians turned up late. , and that Nayyarsaab was so strict.

Rafi was and is the GREATEST ARTIST India has ever produced. His contribution is next to none. He has salvaged non-actors like shammi, dharmendra, biswajid, pradeep kumar, bharat bhoshan, rajender kumar, jitender, joy mukharjee, shahi and many others in the male dominated industry. Rafi was the artery of industry. I forgot Sunil Dutt. Raj Kumar. What were they without Rafi. People will remember Dilip Kumar and Marlin Brando with Gangu Jamuna, god father, street car, Mughal e Azam, Andaz, Madhumati, Naya Daur, Devadas and many others. But who will remember Dev Anand and chocolate heroes. There is a way. People will switch Rafi again and again and by virtue of that they will also have a glimpse of the above non-actors. Rafi was and is the phenomena of industry. No other person was raped, exploited, manipulated, used, misused than Rafi. Musicians had converted his voice to a whore who can be accessed any time. Amitabh says, industry will be known BEFORE AND AFTER DILIP KUMAR. I says, industry will be known BEFORE AND AFTER MOHAMMAD RAFI. And I mean word to word.

there was no need for extraordinary acting when most of emotion was already executed in singing and composition riding over masterfully created lyrics . The people you call non actors had to be the medium for the audience to relish as the objects or landscapes of Rafi sahab's voice. without the teaming of all these performers, director, venue this entire experience will be incomplete. the fabulous lighting by the cameraman is complementing the composition too. give credit to the Rafi's level of camerawork and direction.
