That's my life. It takes me about 40 minutes to drive to the small town. By small, I mean about 2000 people. I have to drive to the next town over to go shopping for food. It's another 80 or so miles to get into a bigger town(still small by your ideas), to go to bigger stores or restaurants. Don't even think about a mall. That's another 300 miles. But this is me. I gave up city life. I gave up living in a town. I'm a country girl.
I was curious if you've heard this and this is the main reason I don't like pop country. This is a video by Sir Mashalot who mixed 6 popular modern country songs and made a new one.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FY8SwIvxj8o.html
Holy cow, @saremile, what a find!! I knew there was a similar sound among many artists coming out of Nashville, but that was unbelievable. Those are all basically the same song!!!
I love this song and he is talking about his own life and as I'm selling his soul to the devil he was referring to when he signed his life away to be famous.
Love your reactions I personally believe Aaron best song is Lost and Lonely. I was fortunate enough to see him at the house of blues in Orlando right before the pandemic started. Awesome videos!
@Matthew Smith Thank you for the kind words, and welcome aboard the channel! And that’s a great venue and concert to see Aaron before things got shut down. Hopefully things open up again soon so we can get back to seeing shows and everyone’s face again.
Good voice, seems like he don’t care. I’m from the north but I got southern heritage from the south. My dads side is country, my moms a little.... I like him exspeshally the “Don’t Tread on Me” I just ordered a Don’t Tread on me flag a bit ago.
im from a small rural town in western il with corn all around. i rarely identify with these types of songs. dont give a shit about guns, trucks, or whiskey. however i like the message of self determination even though the juxtaposition of old glory and the dont tread on me flag is kind of silly to me. having the Possum on his death bed crooning on the track 😍😍😍 makes it even better
The guy can sing. I don't care for the country songs he's written but he does a very nice version of "Whiskey and You" a Chris Stapleton song. #StaindIsUnderrated
Hi Don, I needed this song and your reaction today. I love Aaron's voice and the melody and instrumentation. Beautiful!! I get you on some of the obvious lyrics. I have a favor to ask. Have you done Willie, Blues Eyes Crying in the Rain? I love this song. It is where I am right now. A heavy load I carry at this time. So good to see your smiling face today. You are so calming. Have a great weekend. Pam
@Pamela Hammons, okay, now that I'm done blushing from reading those beautiful sentiments, I can respond! I'm sorry you're bearing such a heavy burden right now--nobody and nothing really prepares a woman for motherhood and all it entails, especially in extra-difficult circumstances. I'm hoping things gradually start to right themselves so you get a chance to be back to being you again, and of course I'll put that song on my list for you. Keep the faith, my dear--I'm in your camp. :-)
@@RockN2Country Thank you so much Don! I am putting one foot in front of the other by the grace of God. My Daddy always said the only thing that's constant is change. Waiting on a change for the better😊 I hope you have a great weekend!
I respect Aaron a lot, but i'm not a huge fan of his country stuff. If you like creativity, look up Todd Snider. He's folk/americana and to quote Jason Isbell "If the day ever comes that he (Todd Snider) falls off the peach truck, everyone in this town (Nashville) is going to say he was their friend." Isbell does a cover of "Play a train song", however i prefer Todd's version. I'll take the heat if the people don't like it. ;) LOL
@Adam Buckley I went by what Wiki said, and they may be wrong, of course, but always hope they're right. I think another poster said he moved to Massachusetts sometime after he was born, so maybe we're both right? Not sure.
Hey, I've been gone awhile working 14 hr days but I'm playin catch up now. Ya, this was a break thru song. I like it. I relate. I dont know much about Aaron Lewis personally but I like a few of his songs.
Hey @austin 8693, good to see you in her, as always. It's gonna take a while for me to get to it, as my list is now about three months long, but I'll keep my eye out for a spot where I might be able to this one in sooner. Thanks for looking out!
Staind is one of my favorite bands, because of Aaron. Not too much of fan of his country stuff but man I love my 90s post grunge, but I do like this song.
All I can say is this, anyone that has to write a song about how country they are and how much country stuff they have...might not be country. Our one lawyer in my little town has a fancy office, a fancy imported car, and wears expensive fancy suits. Yet everyone knows he's as country as a cornbread wedding cake! Nuff said...
@@cicibradley2809 I think it would have been more effective to just write country music instead of writing music about being country (you know, like Darius Rucker did). Dozens of published articles have also questioned his motives and even call him a wanna-be. The truth is he was born in Vermont and his parents were hippies that listened to hippy music. As a kid, they divorced and he moved with his dad to Longmeadow, Mass. which is the most affluent suburb of Springfield, Mass. He formed a rock group in his upscale suburban high school when he was 16. After making millions (he's still worth 9 mil. today) he decided doing teenage angst music wasn't going to keep working for a plump middle-aged man. So he buys some land and expensive country-boy toys and announces he's a country star! We all have may have slightly different definitions of what being country is but I'm just not seeing it?
We need to raise money for you to start a magazine. The way you write and what you write is pure gold!! I would totally subscribe to that, even if came out only once every six months. Ha!!
@@RockN2Country Thanks Don! I'll make a deal with you, I consider the magazine but you have to start writing greetings cards! You have the rare gift of conveying so much love with just a few words! Thanks again for the complement, my ramblings have never been made to feel so regarded!
Lol I remember when this song first came out, everyone one was spreading the false rumor that it was Charlie who was singing. No one that I knew realized that George Jones was the one singing, or even featured in the song. If you have eyes and can see the video, you should be able to tell that that wasn't Charlie.
