Limp Bizkit opened up doors for me musically when I was younger. People need to remember Limp Bizkit was huge there for a moment. That’s more than 99.9% of bands can say. Thank you Fred and Limp.
Also dont forget he also helped bring out the band COLD, and also even though they ended up going with a different label and producer in the end, he also helped bring TAPROOT to notoriety in the very beginning of their career. Plus even though KORN mainly headlined them all, it wasnt just KORN that had a large hand in bringing the FAMILY VALUES tours it was fred and Limp Bizkit.
20 years ago today Limp Bizkit was about to be the #1 band in the Nu Metal scene... Nookie video was being filmed and Significant Other would blow up Summer 1999. Them and Korn took Nu Metal to the top of the mainstream.
I have tried to regain the feeling of joy from korns music but I can't help but think it's terrible now. I used to love it. Im not saying anyone should agree; it's just interesting how perspective and time can change so many things for a person. You know whos music aged well; Deftones. I was a bit of a fan back in the day but recently I've been litening to the first couple albums. Damn. I like it more now than I did before. What nu meta, rapcore (or whatever genre from that era) albums do you guys think aged well?
Bahahahaha .... limp bizkit is one of the shittiest bands ever. I’ll be honest I liked them when I was 15.... but to each their own so you go and move in and move out put your hands up then down then back up back up ....then tell me what you’ll do now.... dude is a douchebag that couldn’t write a song to save his life.... lemme guess you say he sold more records than me? So has Justin Bieber .... selling records is more proof you ARE NOT talented than anything.
Fred Durst is really a stand up guy from what I’ve been hearing. He may not be the best vocalist but he just loves what he does and he is just a unique frontman
@@AdamTopCommenter well, in metal we invest our time in writing meaningful lyrics, badass riffs and ripping solos and not rapping( sarcasm) about Gucci, Versace, big booties & twerking or meaningless dissing.
Dude I grew up in junior high and high school listening to limp bizkit! Don’t get the Fred hate, I saw them finally at 98 rock fest in 2009 and they were amazing! Fred is larger than life on stage, insane stage presence, and Wes Borland wails on guitar. They sound really good live… just like in the studio and Fred pumps up a crowd like no other! Limp Bizkit will forever be a part of me and my childhood, they kick ass!!!
We should all take note, We should try to lift each other up not kick them while they are down. We can all be assholes given the right circumstances. Life is too short to hold grudges bc of something that happened when we weren't having a good day.
Fred Durst is actually a good dude, i think people couldn't tell the difference between the artist and the real dude. At the end of the day, Fred helped a lot of people in the industry
I like limp bizkit, it helped through my angsty years, I liked the nu metal scene.... I hate nickleback with a passion!!!😂 Don't know how they were ever signed with roadrunner records!!
That guy doesn't hate Fred, he really loves Arron Lewis. That was that guys way of saying that. He was saying your enemies are mine..he just didn't understand how Arron actually felt...
The difference and downfall of “nu metal” I feel is the fans. I mean if you think about it, nu metal is just harder punk rock music, but punk rock fans stand behind it and aren’t ashamed they are fans of it whereas it feels like nu metal fans were kinda afraid to admit they were, and just trashed it like everyone else while being closet fans. Lorn, limp bizkit, were the best bands of their time and cultural icons whether anyone likes it or not. And they made great music, that still holds up to this day.
I don't understand why people go to places they don't like or annoyed with. I mean I kinda like to go to places I enjoy if I'm going to spend my money. Last I looked I had my big girl panties on so I don't need someone making me go somewhere.
Aaron Lewis walked off stage at the Pharr Tx show. He tried to quiet the crowd to play a song, and someone in the crowd said "say it in Spanish." The show was in the lower Rio Grande Valley and Aaron Lewis responded with "I dont know Spanish, Im an American." He looked at his watch and said have a good evening and cut the show early. If he didnt want to perform in front of Latinos, he shouldn't do shows in South Texas.
He didn't have to sing in Spanish or speak it. One person was heckling him, and for some reason, this got to him. IMO he comes off at best a prima donna, at worst, an intolerant person.
Did he say he didn't want to do shows in front of Latinos? And if he does, how does that mean he's required to perform in Spanish? And if he can't, does that mean he needs to be heckled? As an artist who performs around the world should he be required to sing in every single native language of every country he performs in? Get over yourself...
Man... i wish Fred didnt cancel the summer shows. I was finally about to see LB for the first time after 20 years of being a fan. Then the show in NY was canceled only a few days before the date. Im still bummed out about it.
You have to understand, this people have their own life, and if sometimes they're acting non sense, is because of the life and society pressure on em. I'm from Iran and Fred Burst always will be my legend. I remember we didn't had access to albums that time n I listened to his albums demos, like 20 seconds of each track that you can download from limo Bizkit website and I was pray that one day I can buy his album and listen to it. They really had something to say in Nu. They're Artist and life is full of up n down. Please respect artists instead of what they're doing. It's simple if you like em, follow, if you're not do not hate em, just ignore em.
I remember you starting out in the 1st Family Values tour & Fred coming out & singing with you cause didn't you have stage fright? That was so cool. Me, my daughter & my little sister got to meet him at Salt Air in Ut. I'm sure he doesn't remember which is cool. We never will. I have the pics.
Fred/LB also helped other bands, such as Puddle of Mud, Staind, personally, I wouldn't known Staind if not for Fred's endorsement in one of the MTV's show (I forgot what it was)... I bought Dysfunction w/o hearing any of it's song. That albuw was sick!
Love them or hate them, there's no middle ground for Aaron or Fred. Props to Aaron for not letting people shit on Fred. You may not like Fred or Aaron or their music, but what they create is unfiltered and they make the music the want to make. Nowadays I respect any musician who does that, not to mention the ones that can actually make a living at it like these two have.
I totally agree. That band still kicks ass, their live shows are some of the best ever. So what if some of his lyrics are stupid, doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy, stop taking it so seriously and rock out and have fun to some incredible legendary nu metal riffs.
@@jacksamunster4407 If he was. He's not anymore. He said his stage persona was meant to be a satire of rappers at the time. Heck I met the guy years ago and he spoke to me like we were sitting at a coffee shop. And even people who hate LB said their music is great.
Think it's his attitude he proper feels sorry for his self plus he did call his own fans in the past when he dissed slipknot fans an I'm not even gonna go to the reason Eminem made the song girls he's done it all on his own be a douch get treated like one it's that simple probably why some ppl don't like him
I met Fred Durst at one of the shows here in San Antonio and he's the biggest humble person I've ever met and the most generous guy I've ever known "RESPECT"
@@PaddyBoyBKLYN I'm 6 foot 3...I was with Fred at a Jazz party he did on Hollywood blvd at the Black rabbit a few years ago...Fred got some size on him. ...still a super humble dude...John Otto the drummer is a friend of mine
As a LB fan, thank you aaron lewis. Needed to be said by someone with clout like you. Hes misunderstood. Hate ICP or something. But not freddy d, the public enemy, ya know the one who had brittney droppin to her knees.
Hate ICP? The clowns that preach anti bigotry, anti hate, and have prob given more money to charity than fred ever made, all while being kept off the radio? 😜
Aaron Lewis will always be one of my favorites! Staind was one of those bands that got me through some of the rough times in my life. I had the chance to meet him once and he seemed really genuine and down to earth! I love that he stood up for Fred Durst! He always remembers his roots!
You know what's really amazing? The fact that Aaron Lewis can sing the way he does while being a smoker! When I smoked, I didn't have a lot of lung capacity to work with. He must be genetically made to do this.
Hello thanks for your love in my career.. may God continue to bless you you...send me a private message on my hangout account.( officialaaronlewismusicstaind@gmail.com)
I met Fred and hung out with John otto the drummer of LB....but never got to meet Aaron Lewis...his music saved my life...I thought I was the only person going thru something when I heard his music
Fred Durst gets so much unreasonable hatred and is probably one of the most misunderstood and misrepresented characters in rock history. Chocolate Starfish shattered Guns N Rose's record for album sales and they were on top of the world. Then Wes leaves, to make literally the worst music of all time with his brother, while throwing fred under the bus, for rapping???, and the world dog piled on. Honestly I think alot of people had fears of hip hop taking over rock in some way and were itching to jump on the hate fred durst band wagon.
Whoa whoa whoa...what record did Chocolate Starfish break? I love the album but last I checked I don't think any Limp Bizkit album sold better than Appetite for Destruction. What record exactly did GNR how prior? The only record I can think of is Top selling debut album of all time. Im kinda confused by your statements. Love Chocolate Starfish though. Great album
No. Noone gave a thought or care about Wes. He had a couple followers but Fred Durst was the king there for a small time. The start of the downfall was the Woodstock set. The media blamed and crucified basically him alone for killing the history of good vibes of Woodstock. After that the entire music genre got a black eye and many people kinda blamed him for less sales, publicity and more drama. All he did was kick ass but that one set sent him spiraling and many people jumped off his bandwagon at that time.
Fred Durst helped not only Staind but Puddle of Mudd and CoLd.. among others.. I was always a Limp Bizkit fan. Still am at 31 years old. Have a CoLd logo tattoo. Still listen to Staind regularly. I don't understand why people hate on so many of the Post-Grunge and Nü Metal guys.
I'm 30, and I agree. I remember 5th grade in 1999 riding around on my little razor scooter listening to "Nookie" on my portable CD player. Lol. It was kind of a joke to a lot of people back then, but there are music snobs who will hate everything! I myself am really into Crowbar, Down, Pantera, and a lot of underground sludge metal. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate some country tunes when I'm driving (old country...not the new shit). I'm a snob too. Lol. I think we probably had the last really great childhood of any generation to come...if that makes sense. The internet and cell phones weren't as much of a time consumer, and we could get outside with neighborhood kids and just create fun things to do! Ding dong ditch was fun. We had better music back in the 90's too...I must say. Even the shitty people were better than the most famous acts out there now.
Most of that era of music was our generation of music so we are the last to see the best of rap metal and alternative metal at it's best I miss those days. When Deftones, P.O.D. papa roach, Ill nino, Linkin park, mudvayne, Soulfly, Static-X, Sevendust, Godsmack, System of a down, even Incubus when they were all coming out at the peak of their career it changed the formula of new age sound of metal that style was popular and being pushed into mainstream when it was still at it's best. that's all I was listen to during best years when I was kid.
It's because morons with their fragile little minds don't like it when other kinds of music are thrown in with Metal. They get butthurt if a band decides to use Hard Rock and/or Hip Hop in their Metal sound mostly because they can't appreciate other kinds of music besides Metal.
Fred Durst helped to produce the Primus album "Antipop" which brought us singles like "Lacquer Head" and "Electric Uncle Sam" Durst heavily encouraged the band to return to their aggressive sound found on earlier albums, specifically for the song "Lacquer Head"
People really think they know someone from social media..kudos Aaron for sticking up for your friend. I once saw some d-bag try to correct Ringo Starr about an event that Ringo was at and the d-bag wasnt...
Fred Durst brought Arron Lewis on stage to sing one of the most memorable songs of the early 2000's. Arron Lewis has one of the most unique voices of my generation. Fred Durst brought forward one amazing band Limp Bizkit. I grew up a socially awkward kid, bullied and mistreated. Music like Slipknot, Korn, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit reminded me I was not alone. Limp Bizkit was amazing regardless of what others think
Kjc Ile what are you referring to? I’m responding to the many videos online of him getting attention for the questionable things he has remarked about. I’m simply stating here that, regardless of how you feel about his recent encounters, this was a moment of sincerity and kindness.
Fred Durst was never really a douche, the media just put him up as one and he had moments of douchie moments but who hasn’t right? Freddy D is the Homie and always is
It's beautiful seeing bands I grew up on, and saw in concert (The first time I saw Korn live back in 2000, Staind was pretty new and was opening for them during the Sick & Twisted Korn tour. I never got to see Limp Bizkit live.) still having love for one another, and letting the childish shit go from back in the day that happened between them!! For the most part, anyway. I'm lucky to be able to still be proud of the majority of the bands from my generation who are still rockin' today too! Staind played while my Nephew was born 18 years ago, so even though Korn was the one I listened to most out of the three, Staind holds a special place in my heart for that too. I like how Aaron always seemed to go to the beat of his own drummer, even if nobody else heard the song. Limp Bizkit became more of a guilty pleasure for many people after their initial fame, and that's unfortunate. They do have SEVERAL solid songs! I'm sorry Fred lost everything! I knew his house was hit by the fires, but I didn't know our was this bad. I'm SO looking forward to Korn's upcoming release too. They've always got some sick shit up their sleeves! That's why they still top my list. Thanks for sharing this clip. 💗, Amanda
I've been saying for a while now the reason why LB has been so dormant and hasn't put any music out in the last 7 years is because Fred is clinically depressed.
Absolutely a awesome stand up guy and fred is 2nd to none as well he has helped alot of people without asking for a pat on the back 2 great hearted guys that haven't let fame go to there heads!!
I just gained so much respect for Fred Durst. Not once, did I, and I assume anyone else, hear about him losing it all in the fire. He's apparently not the type of person who has fame and abuses it to get sympathy. He didn't post about it on social media, which I'm sure 90% of other celebrities would just for sympathy. Fred, I'm sorry that happened to you.
Limp bizkit was great back in 1998 when i was a teenager, loved it.Find i listen too it now and still love it,its different listen too the other songs by limp bizkit that were not on the radio there some.of the best.
If you had the fame and money Fred had at his young age, you would be the same way Fred was at that age. Most people at that age are doochbags without the fame and money.
Who are these creepy leaders of ‘’we all hate this band…now…right??’’ Bandwagon people somehow still surprises me yet I find them so ignorant! People just refuse to think for themselves. IDGAF 👁STILL Respect & love FRED DURST & Limp Bizkit beyond, just Rollin’ Rollin’ & Nookie. Fred genuinely has a beautiful voice. I’ve watched a few of these type of vids over the years talkin 💩 bout Fred for no GD reason that I can tell except for the tasteless fad of incoherent furor & following the fad leader by jumping onto their suggested BAND WAGON , ESPECIALLY in 🇺🇸. So frustrating, for instance these many channels LOVE to play FD speaking about Scott Stapp… AS IF …#1) Fred was no longer allowed to have HIS OWN thoughts or speak about HIS OWN honest experiences ?! Especially being around selfish hypocrites w/ narcissistic personality traits that of course conveniently hide behind a ‘’I’m a Christian thus I AM ALLOWED to act like I’m ‘’higher’’ & almightier’’ dbag & treat every other human like trash mentality’’ that is a sad majority in my experience that people who use their organized religion as their personal weapon. Well I imagine that’s likely going to elicit negative feelings & there’s not a lot of humans that would be brave enough to speak against others like that. But #2) Fred was spot on it turns out - since many many bands have had issues with Scott Stapp his own family & band included. So many artists often become addicts and struggle with mental health which is 1000% understandable just ALWAYS OWN IT! Sobriety is a lifelong struggle to keep it in remission, acting like all your issues were only because of an undiagnosed mental health issue & the fact he had zero clue he ‘’shouldn’t have been drinking on SSRI’s” beggars belief. I still don’t see Scott Stapp owning all of his issues I think he hides all of it behind his diagnosis of bi-polar. But opinions are like brown balloon 🍩🎈 knots . I’m beyond thankful for Fred Durst, because I likely wouldn’t have been helped by STAINDs music, it’s all incredible music 14 shades of grey & of course Break the Cycle will always be some of the best music I’ve ever heard.
