For sure my favourite guitar player of this era.. Such a nice balance between riffs and licks and tempo its not overly done and just shredding all the time like some others these days
It;s called Hybrid picking and its used by him and most people that use it to catch notes on other strings so you dont have to string hop with the pick. Less movement as far as the pick is concerned and once you get it down smooth it does make things more fluid. It can make the note sound different but in some of those legato runs you want all the notes to sound basically the same, as far as more trebley with the pick and fatter and less trebley with your finger, so you have to pluck it just right for those runs and does an amazing job. He makes it look so easy lol thats what sux. If your ok at fingerstyle, thumb, index and middle finger picking on the acoustic than it can be easier to hybrid pick. PRactice
