I think the best thing for Aaron's recovery was the Jest getting eliminated as it took away that x factor of being cleared with understandable risk. We all know he would have pushed as hard as he could to be back on the field and fighting with his team if there was even a crumb of playoff hope left in the table to fight for.

risk vs reward. If they won and had a chance to make the playoffs, then he would've played because Rodgers at 75% is better than any other qb on the Jets. But since it's mathematically impossible that they make the playoffs with their loss to miami on Sunday, there's no reward for the risk other than pleasing the fans
@danizel1

@mugshotmarley this should be obvious…
@EchosTackyTiki
@EchosTackyTiki 5 месяцев назад
I feel like the possibility of him coming back before the end of the season was entirely dependent on the Jets having playoff hopes. If Rodgers had been going into week 17 or 18 with the Jets one game from a wild card shot, he would've limped onto that field if he had to. But with them out of contention, there's no point. And yes, they could use these last few games as a test bed for Rodgers to get him some real pressure field time without worrying about the outcome, but just because the Jets aren't concerned with the outcome didn't mean the Commanders, the Browns, and the Pats won't still want to win when they play them. You put your start veteran QB at substantial risk for the relatively frivolous purpose of reaclimating him to the game rapidly when you'll have the whole off-season and next preseason to do exactly that.

As a person who has suffered this injury it is tough! I’ve “recovered” yet the fact that I still cannot due a single leg calf raise (injured leg) even after two years shows the significant of this injury and putting in the fact that the muscle atrophy that occurs with the calf is even more frustrating the leg will never be the same . Now given the fact it’s Aaron Rodgers I’m sure he has the best medical and will be back soon. But damn it’s a pain with this injury. Aaron was never coming back this season, playoffs or not. Any athlete or physician knew that right off the bat. Docs, Aaron and Jets FO knew from day 1 that he was never coming back in 2023. The improvised plan B was to keep gullible fans hoping for a miracle, only to prop the 2024 season up as the long-awaited return of the Messiah. That's why they egregiously tanked and blocked Saleh from getting a decent alternative QB. The emergence of another Purdy was the last thing the Jets wanted. They still want returns on their Rodgers investment other than smirks from Green Bay.
@hhaste
@hhaste 5 месяцев назад
@@StripedSooner Sure, the timing lines up.. but he has no reps/hasn't played all season.. no conditioning for the NFL, a terrible O line.. there's more to it then just the timing. He would come back and either re-injure it after his 8th sack in the first game back or tear the other one, trying.
@codsworth9950
@codsworth9950 5 месяцев назад
@@jeanfourcade Yeah, but getting a few Jets fans excited about his return would be one thing, but this thing absolutely blew up. It made it to every single sports station. They had fans of every NFL team and other contact sports paying close attention. There were surgeons and specialists not in sports medicine watching this closely. You even had Howard Stern, who hates sports, talking about it on his show. If their goal had been to only give hope to hopeless Jets fans, then they royally screwed up. The timing of this, “Yeah, I can’t come back yet” concession is incredibly suspect. They were only willing to admit this once they found out that they were eliminated from the playoffs. Just weeks ago, Rodgers was still going around telling absolutely everyone who would listen that he was feeling almost 100% like himself and that he would be playing in the playoffs. I’ve got the strongest suspicion that had they actually made it past regular season then Rodgers would definitely be playing ball. Unfortunately, we’ll never truly know.

When I was 14 I tore my ACL and even being as young and healthy as I was it took me 6-7 months before I trusted my leg and as we know with the ACL being stability oriented an Achilles tear is considered more severe. All I’m saying to have experienced the lesser of the 2, seeing him actually moving and throwing after a few months blew my mind. I’m glad they are ruling him out, the last thing I want to see is watch his talent go to waste because he tried pushing himself to early.

Thanks for the videos. Enjoyed them much. I tore my AT 11/30. I'm 69, have been very active my whole life (between pro level and much more than weekend warrior usage). My surgeon used the PARS system. I asked about the Speedbridge, he will not use it anymore (and as you said not "new" by any means :)) which he had previously. He has seen an anchor release and because of the added tension pain can appear in the heel for a period of time. Anyway I'm ~6 weeks now and things are progressing well. I have read literally 100's of hours of studies/procedures/protocols on the rehab of the AT. Currently per my surgeon and PT (who I have had for other various rehabs); and based on many rehab protocols out there it is time to begin gentle AROM dorsiflexion (6-9 weeks). HOWEVER I have come across numerous studies and protocols calling for delaying that step to 12 weeks (to minimize overlengthing of the AT, maximizing the functionality of it). Being very anal about many things, considering my age, at this point I am pushing for at least 10 weeks to begin 5 degree although I could do that now easily. It is tough on me, my AAA personality; wanting to get back to the many activities that I enjoy and are required of me. But I want to minimize that possibility of elongating the AT and maximizing the power it generates when properly healed to as close as possible its original length. I know I will never regain original strength based on studies but will push hopefully 85%+ and definitely will never get back the size. It seems the two biggest drawbacks waiting that long would be additional atrophy (been lifting weights for 45 years so that doesn't bother me, I'll get back whatever is possible); and not working the collagen, scar tissue early so that will take longer to remodel. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the waiting of the dorsi movement. Again, thanks for the videos and once I got into this topic had to chuckle at AR as the old saying goes you can't fool mother nature. The AT just needs that time to heal being up against the biologics of it.

There is a highlight reel on RU-vid that last for about a second for Rodgers tenure with the Jets, he calls hike then goes down. Funny af now that he's close to full health.

Aaron Rodgers also had access to a number of therapies most of us either don't have access to or can't afford. A $50,000 Alter-G Treadmill, $1-2k PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections, stem cell therapy and use of a bariatric chamber for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. I'm glad he's using those to maximize tissue healing, but those therapies, plus his physical condition as a professional athlete may be part of the reason he and other athletes can recover quicker than most. Just a thought. 😊

Can you please provide information regarding stem cells treatment? And how they could impact recovery times?
@married_incel
@married_incel 5 месяцев назад
The current state of stem cell therapy is just not ready. It basically consists of dumping a bunch of random cells into the wound, hoping there are actually some stem cells there, (sometimes there are, sometimes not) and hoping they do what you want them to. At this point we lack understanding of the signalling and growth factors that control their differentiation. Current stem cell therapy is analogous to dumping a bunch of logs on an empty lot and expecting to come back a month later and find a house there.

The inflection on 100% differentiates between admission and clarification, though. ACL RTP at 9 months isn’t even at “100%”; remodel of a tendon graft into ligament tissue is 2-4 years.

I think personally he probably feels super disappointed and terrible that he got injured game 1 drive 1 of year 1 with his first new team in the NFL since drafted. He wanted to believe and so did everyone else that he could come back and light it up en route to a playoff push/run. Hes inching closer to 40 and also needs to realistically look at remaining healthy to resume play, but also for the rest of his life. Thanks for your quality assessment Brian 👍

The players 100% isnt the same as a medical clearance of 100%. If Rodgers had the hankering to play in week 18 for a half, im sure they would give it to him. I think the speculation of 100% is literally based on player vs medical evaluation. and the player will always have a higher percentage. I dont think he was contradicting more than challenging himself.

Yup. He never committed to anything and clarified whenever pressed or the boys implied. He is always very clear with his position and will update it if necessary. People just don’t like him so they don’t listen to what he says and just call him arrogant and judge him. It’s an indictment on them not him.

Back in 2009 I suffered a grade 3 proximal humorous fracture from a fall landing on the point of my shoulder. 7 hours of surgery and 3 years of rehab. the first year was just mobilization and the rest was just getting strength back I never got all of the power back, but like you said, things progressed quickly and the last 10 percent I gained too so long and was depressing. He is lucky he can go back to his career, I lost mine over that. Best of luck to Aaron, and thanks for the video. Look forward to seeing you after some injury news.

I don’t think Aaron ever claimed he would be 100%. And I think here he is clarifying that he understands “100%” is and has been unrealistic. Overall, it appears and from what he has said in the past, that if the Jets were still in playoff contention that he would then play - regardless of being “100%.” Here and now, the Jets season is over and there is no reason for him to come back. It makes sense to tone it down with the comeback now that the team is out of it. Otherwise, it would seem he was trying to hype up the team and keep fans in it - now only if the team had held it together…

Rodgers knew the social media and sports journalism pull he'd get from all the injury talk through out this season. Im sure his manager told him to play the story of "coming back soon" so his name would still be in the ticker and in the hash tags all season long.

@OldManInternet

Not to read too far into it, but I think what Rodgers was implying was that there's no way he would be 100% by the end of the season, but if they were still in contention he could have played in a similar fashion to what we saw from Burrow earlier this year who was clearly playing while not 100%. And that by the playoffs he would have been 100% barring a setback. The thing you have to be careful about with Rodgers is he's very particular with his words, and you have to avoid giving him the benefit of the doubt, OR making any assumptions on what he's saying. Never assume anything when it comes to what he's saying. Because technically what he said wasn't a contradiction if you look at what he said under the Rodgers lens.

I knew he wouldn't be back, maybe if the Jets made it to the playoffs, but otherwise what's the point, especially behind that o-line. But also, I've heard you say multiple times that he's not a particularly mobile qb...have you watched many Rodgers games? Yes he's known for his throwing talent, and he's not a rushing qb in a Lamar, Vick, Cam, Allen type of way. But he's 8th all time in qb rushing attempts, 10th all time for qb rushing yards, and tied for 10th all time in qb rushing tds. He is most definitely a 'mobile' qb. Which just added to me doubting that he'd be back, it just didn't make sense.

Tbf to Rodgers regarding that report stating that was expected to be “medically cleared”: Schefter is notorious for being an unreliable source. He does have contacts, but it’s clear that he either just spews a report on whatever is a hot topic, or simply does not vet his sources.
