What a genuine dude. Man, I don’t get why people love to hate on this guy so much. Down to earth and honest. You don’t get that too much these days, especially with high profile people

Raising his vibration, addressing childhood issues, and contemplating your career takes huge guts to face it all. God bless him. We are all a work in progress.

I grew up a Packer fan. My parents both went to UW Oshkosh so I was always among Packer, Badger, and Brewer fans. I watched a lot of Favre and still have memories of the '97 Super Bowl at a big party we went to and how exciting it was. But most of my football memories were in the late Favre and all of Rodgers career. He's been a leader and hero of this team for years and he deserves to be heard and respected in the sport's sphere. He's still just a man and wants to decide his own life on his his own terms. Rodgers and GB fan for life. I'll always cheer on the Pack and I will always root for Rodgers in whatever he does.

Say what u want about Rodgers, he's trying to reach his full potential as a human. He questions and deeply looks into the person he is and wants to be. This is what all humans should do. I look up to his wisdom. And I love the Packers 4 life.

Big Dolphins Fan and a big NFL fan. Aaron Rodgers is real as they get. Regardless of what media and woke people say. Class Act , Honest , Educated and one hell of a QB. Whatever decision he makes it will be for himself and the correct path. Love yah Aaron and god bless yah.

There is definitely something to the darkness. My dad was completely blinded at age 21 from a welding accident. He was one of the smartest people I know. He could draw up inventions and whole job blue prints. He almost gained another sense.

Amazing point made right away about how the talking heads of sports claim to care about players' mental health, but then when players DO take care of their mental health, they are ridiculed, bullied and made to look like a joke.

Thank you Aaron for putting your spiritual journey out there for everyone to view. I know it's probably difficult hearing all the criticism from people that don't understand, but I'm grateful to have someone like you validate my own journey. It's inspired me to embrace and share my experiences with others. Keep at it bro!

I grew up in WI and the packers have such a profound heartbeat for the community. Truly grateful that Aubrey has curated a space where Aaron can share what is on his heart. These interviews have given me an even deeper respect for Aaron as a person and I wish nothing but the best for him & his life!

My friend’s mom went to the hairstylist that Aaron went to early on in Green Bay Area who got him to change his initial haircut. She was there on a day and observed when he showed up late for his haircut and was told he would have to wait. He didn’t act like an ass but sat down and waited. Good dude

It's amazing how vilified he is for being a hippy. He did DMT and darkness retreat and everyone loses their damn minds. He isn't hurting anyone with the way he lives his life. Until McAfee I didn't really know much or have much of an opinion on Aaron. But in the last few years, I have grown to love the profound way he speaks and thinks. How eloquent he speaks. And you two together is like a megaphone of this calm, peaceful words. Listening just helps me be self-aware and self-reflective. Great podcast reflecting on his journey. Thank you!

I’m a diehard Lions fan since around 1990 when I started watching the NFL. Do you know how hard it is to not hate the QB of the Packers! Idk if it will help, but Aaron gave us many years of magical football. In the last few years, he has also played the role of mentor. Not just to the team, I have learned a lot about mindset and myself just listening to him talk on McAfee's show. I have never wanted to meet a football player or "star" in my life, but he is someone that I would like to. As much as I can without knowing him as an individual, there is plenty of love for that man. Either way, if he wants to play or retire, I would be excited to see what comes next. If it was available for people to experience, lol

I’ve loved Aaron Rodgers since I saw him guest hosting Jeopardy, such a cool dude! He is a fully formed, well balanced person, and that’s what he brings to football and anything else he might choose to do.

Aaron looks like the weight of the world has been lifted from his shoulders. Comparing his body language, tone of voice, general attitude and perspective on talking points here as to some of the interviews leading up to the darkness retreat and I can see how much relief he has from the retreat. We could all use a mental reset and re-focus on our lives every few years, imo. Good to see him like this!

Lolll, im not a packers fan but thru PMS, rogan and aubrey shows its hard not to be a fan of the dude.. and it makes me giggle that while the whole NFL media world is basically waiting for Aaron’s decision, he goes on Aubrey’s podcast to discuss his darkness retreat & god knows what other weird topics and the fact that the NFL media circuit will 100% be using this pod to try to spin a “story” is hilarious to me because the way they respond will likely be a perfect illustration of even sports media being so obnoxiously reliant on clickbait.. they HAVE to report something! Even tho no report matters once he actually makes his decision publicly.. Because of this reliance on bullshit content to fill the offseason downtime, now they have to report on (and give uneducated opinions on, in many cases) topics like ayahuasca, darkness retreats, big pharma abuses and really whatever aaron wants to feed em. Plus 2 years of going on mcafee recommending some pretty solid spiritual/though provoking books to a bunch of meatheads (to be clear i say this in the most loving way, i love Pat and the gang) low key id almost go as far as to say Rodgers out here running reverse psy-ops to counteract the blatantly obvious ones the gov and media have been running for years if not decades doing the Lord’s work if you ask me

When I swore an oath to protect the constitution of the United States of America from enemies foreign or Domestic, it wasn't until after my career that I realized, the real work...the real fighting..the real protecting, didn't begin until I returned home....Hopefully Aaron realizes, his real work on this earth, begins After he hangs up those pads. It’s funny, people say they want public figures to be more genuine. Here’s this guy being as genuine and vulnerable as you can be, and there are people who hate him for it. He’s publicly examining his own existence beyond the material things while acknowledging the separate importance of the tangible things in his life, like his profession. These are the things we all grapple with as we move forward in the phases of our lives. To want to be able to identify and speak to those aspects of the human condition isn’t crazy or aloof. It’s about recognizing and appreciating your existence. Sadly, it’s understandable that a lot of people really are caught up in constructs, insecurities, and outside perceptions. We’re not necessarily taught to think any differently. There would be great societal benefits to people being guided to be introspective, thoughtful, mindful, and inquiring.

I went into the dark at Sky Cave in September. I had similar experiences as Aaron had. It is not easy but incredible!!! I have a better understanding of who Aaron is now after this interview. Bravo!!

As a Wisconsinite who has lived in the heart of Packer-land the last 12 years. I’ve spent more time listening to / watching Aaron off the field and will say that’s given me 100x more respect for the dude. Aaron, when you do retire, come down to Milwaukee and we’ll find something fun for you to do.

This is a really genuine, cool, and almost spiritual interview.. which u don't see these days... Usually, it's a certain topic that athletes get emotional and/or spiritual about, to have a conversation with 2 guys talking about experiences they've shared together and separately is something alot of people can learn from if they don't have that connection in their lives... I feel like if we as a whole pay attention to other people's experiences and truly listen, there's so much we can take away and use or try using in our everyday lives.

Just a couple hours ago I was thinking about how Arods experience in the 4 days of dark went. I even talked to my girl about his multiple ayawaska sessions and how he was back to back MVP in his mid 30s after taking ayawaska and then I was explaining how hes leveling up with the 4 days of darkness. She's not a big sports fan but she instantly became a fan of him and when this interview popped on my algorithms I was so excited to see how happy and at peace he is. Hello Aaron (and Aubrey!), I know you'll probably never read this, but I wanted to say: (whether it goes to you, a publicist, or just the universe) you're words about football and life being inseparable to you (yet for many years you fought against that due to worries of perception and that you didn't want to be defined as one thing, or that your value was permanently tied solely to the sport).... All those things, ALL of them, spoke to me. Even though I'm someone who never played NFL football, never even played D1 football, I still felt the same thing - that you were speaking a version of my own experience. Growing up in high school, excelling both as an athlete and academically, I felt a similar identity crisis that continued into college. It only got worse as I wanted to become a teacher and coach. My inner dialogue became "Well, you shouldn't go to MSU, the college you have rooted for and wanted to go to your whole life, because then people won't know you were smart enough/got accepted to UofM and Northwestern." Or "You can't be a teacher, the thing you've wanted your whole life, because people perceive teachers as not as smart as an engineer or doctor, and those jobs make more money, so people will see you as a failure." Or "You shouldn't be a football coach, because then everyone will see you as that History teacher/football coach stereotype of a middle-aged man who is a dick, not in touch with emotions, forces his own kids to play, and someone who cares more about winning a dumb high school game than the kids/players themselves." Or my mother, sitting me down, crying, and saying, "You are so much smarter than I was, you got a 34 on your ACT, you have so much more you could accomplish- a doctor or surgeon... but you want to end up as *just* a football coach in the same town you grew up in." I spent 2 and a half entire years after getting my degree and certification unemployed, depressed, not coaching or teaching (not applying to jobs, saying "No" to offers to coach) drinking alone and not telling my wife, consumed by the idea that I *was* a failure (I was proving that to myself everyday), and that voice in my head was right, and the same voice saying maybe I should just end it all. Until football literally saved me. I started coaching again and it got me out of my depression, because I was back to doing something I loved and HELPING other people. I took on the responsibility to help these kids, the way coaches had helped me (to be mentally strong, physically healthy, loving and relying on my teammates who become my closest friends, and being a part of accomplishing something bigger than just I can do on my own). Even once I got a teaching job at the school where I was coaching (yes, the thing I love the most in life, teaching, was also a gift tied to football), I felt these thoughts creep back in. That voice had been hiding in the recesses of my mind, but turns out it wasn't gone, just hiding for the right opportunity. Teachers would jokingly say: "Well don't feel nervous about losing your job, you're a football coach, this district would never fire you." I didn't want to be seen as a meat-head/heteronormative/unintellectual dude who was only teaching because I wanted to coach football (or that I only wanted to coach football because I never made it as a player and live vicariously through players). Or my fear that my students would just see me as any other cliche football coach& History teacher (in that order). As my friends become engineers and doctors, I felt the negative thoughts of "You could've done that! You sure this was the best choice? You sure you're going to be okay with your small salary? If you invest more of yourself into this (teaching and coaching), and the more you truly believe it to be important, the more it becomes a part of your identity.... And I couldn't possibly have my identity be teacher & coach! I'm better/smarter/more sophisticated than that!" Listening to your podcast yesterday led me to reflect on how far I've come to push down those negative thoughts, but how I am holding on to them still. Seeing your honesty, growth, and vulnerability, even though you're Aaron fucking Rodgers, who is on the Mt Rushmore of NFL QBs, showed and inspired me that I can do the same. I realize now, that all the things football and teaching have brought me are reason enough to jump in even more with passion, conviction, and love, and that these things ARE important, and have brought me the things that I love the most in life. Being a teacher and coach gives me the opportunity to inspire young people to become adults; it allows me to provide the same blessings and relationships I had growing up, cultivating the sort of positive environment that made me the man I am today. I realized I can be at peace with knowing: the things that allow me to have the most impact and help others (coaching and teaching) are the things that bring me the most joy, pride, peace, understanding, and love. And I am proud if that is my identity, and I have no reason to feel shame for that anymore. Thank you for sharing your journey with everyone and bearing the burden of most people not understanding - them seeing you as whatever *insert mean tweet here*. I hope you know, you have helped at least one person remove the baggage of shame I've been carrying for decades, and inspired me to jump in more completely to the things I love and ways I can help others, and that includes my love of Football. It's hilarious to me how so many people judge a man who's just trying to be a better him. It must be difficult being so perfect that you feel obligated to judge others. Life is about making mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. It is how you handle them and correct yourself, that matters.

I didn't know you guys were friends, but you seem like a great influence for Aaron. Dark retreats are a great way to reconnect with yourself and this was unexpected but Aaron is very smart and the best for a reason. Very heartwarming conversation too and it's all too rare to see men express themselves this way. Peace.

I learned to meditate in a Texas prison. Upon release, part of the conditions of my release was a unfavorable UA I would have to do an automatic 5 years. The insanity of addiction is such that I started using again, despite these potential grave consequences. I contacted a Vipassana center, and lived like a monk for the next 18 months alternating between sitting 10 days silent retreats, and serving the food for the courses. I completed my parole. The organization sent me to India, where I sat a 30 day course with the founder The centers are so golden. Only people who have completed a course, and feel they benefited may donate. The centers around the world do not charge anything to go and attend a course. The teacher said that’s how the pure wheel of Dharma turns. 20 years later, I’m still involved in the drug war. But as a counselor. Be so cool to see dark retreats pop up like the Vipassana centers.

Hello Aubrey and AARON Sounds similar to the way I feel about mental health addiction nursing, parenting and more. Long time served so far, I suppose. Experiencing more of the me than the ANTI me of late thankful for that, but most grateful for my daughters unbelievable recovery journey, so far. Only six weeks previous she was in critical care with multiple injuries including head trauma. However today my daughter now 22 years young is home and healthier than anyone could have imagined. So many stories old and new. But not done, not yet. Thankful to youtube and podcast community for the incredible 'brain gym' over these difficult, challenging few years. Truly. Considering that many retired players say they miss “the locker room” and “miss the guys (player friends)” I would expect it to be a really tough decision for any player to walk away from the game. While the season is a grind it is also intertwined with what so players love the most - competing with your teammates. Nothing can replace that so you’d better really be ready to say goodbye to it. I don’t think Aaron is done playing but yet I can also see him experiencing a new team situation and whatever that experience may bring.
