On Monday 19th October 2015 Ab 608 "Passchendaele" begins the start of Steam Incorporated's three week tour around the South Island Railway network. Ab 608 was built in Christchurch's Addington Railway Workshops in October 1915 and is a fitting tribute that this locomotive returns to its birth place briefly 100 years later. We follow most of the sector from Picton to Christchurch along the stunning Kaikoura Coast and inland North Canterbury. Unfortunately 608 was towed in light steam by a diesel from Picton - Kaikoura due to a lack of KiwiRail steam certified drivers but she ran under her own steam for the rest of the journey to Christchurch.
